ARROW Season 3 |OT| Welcome to the New Age

I'll be honest - from the "I'm cupid stupid" cliffhanger of the last episode, I expected her to be just horrible to watch

That DJ guy really put her in to perspective. I actually really liked the unhinged portrayal, I do like the mentally insane villains (vertigo etc), I'd love to see Harley - it's a shame we won't, although I do like that she got another shout out this week.

There were a few things meh about the episode: Ollie's apparent petulant jealousy, the DJ guy, the guys going around to Diggle's house instead of going to a bar to just get rotten drunk, the DJ, not seeing more of the Atom's suit, the DJ, thea, the DJ...

I've got a feeling Ollie and Maseo's wife have imperilled Maseo's family or triggered a set of events that will suddenly become relevant to the present-day storyline. Tatsu implied they left Japan because they were hiding from someone... assassins perhaps?

Oh and I forgot -- Sherwood Florist! AWESOME :)
Aw, that part was cute!

Well, Ollie going was cute. Roy was definitely not invited by John, so I'm not sure why Ollie asked him to go. If I was Lyla, I'd throw his perpetually perplexed/angry baby face on the street.

How is it that Ollie can easily forgive Roy, who stabbed a COP TO DEATH WITH AN ARROW and Helena WHO SHOT A DOZEN COPS TO DEATH, but when it comes to vigilante Ted Grant who (didn't actually do it) killed a drug dealer, he loses his fucking shit? Is it cause he can't put he penis in Ted Grant? Is it?

Yeah, I feel like they should have gone into detail about the murder, and really shown a level of psycopathy to it, to at least give Oliver some ground to stand on.

As it is now, the most you can do to explain it away is because he still wants Laurel and doesn't like her getting with another dude.

1. Interesting that you seem to be working off the assumption that he can stick his penis in Roy.

2. It's pretty obviously a jealousy thing about Laurel's relationship with Ted. I'm just hoping they've got a bit in the next few episodes where the issue comes up again and somebody calls him on it. Still, it's not like it's coming out of nowhere.

Not to rain on your joking rant
(I'm lying, I'm totally raining all over it)
, it's because he's training Laurel. This season, Ollie is all about not putting others in danger. He has, at one point or another, told every one of his allies to sit the hell down rather than going out with him to save the day.

I think he feels responsible for Sara and doesn't want another one of his friends going out like that. So he tells Diggle to go home and be a family man. Tells Roy to get some sleep. Tells Laurel to knock it off with the revenge aspirations and even tells Thea to chill out with spending Merlyn's dirty money.

Because Ted isn't as hot as Helena and can't do flips like Roy

Just caught up for this week, it feels like things are ramping up, but are just buying time with the tried-and-sorta-true villain of the week formula.

What we're missing, though, is the connection of these villians to the main story. In season 2, the League of Assassins was important because it was connected to Sarah, who was connected to Oliver. Sebastian Blood was important because he was connected to Slade, who was connected to Oliver. Crucially, we were introduced to these characters early in the season, and they had a constant presence in the lives of the main characters - like Sebastian getting involved with Laurel, and Sara looking over Laurel.

Even early season 2 used a villain-of-the-week structure, but those characters served the main characters - the Dollmaker was used to develop Sara's character, and the Mayor was used to develop Sebastian's scheme.

This seasons we have Ra's who isn't present in the show yet, and the flashbacks which have nothing to do with the modern story. I think that's why it doesn't feel like it's paying off yet. Nothing really sticks - a villain shows up for a week and then disappears.

I'm still on board for season 3. If Ray's exosuit becomes a reality on Arrow, and they actually pull it off (the Flash's effects give me hope for this), I will lose my shit. Can you imagine a Ra's/Arrow/Atom throwdown?

He cares about Roy and Helena, he doesn't about Ted. Simple as that.

Can't is such a strong word. More like he hasn't yet tried.

Arrow Season 3 is not really bad. But the show peaked too high with Season 2 imo. Season 3 had its moments so far. Malcolm Merlyn was solid and Routh made a good first impression. It's just a lil slow since then. But I understand that they cannot go all out for the whole season. I'm sure the final will be worth waiting for. Until then we will get all those B-Villains.

And yeah, I guess not having a big huge rival kinda sucks too. Merlyn being all "I didn't do it; I'm not that bad." kinda destroyed his evil aura. No one comes close to Slade. Slade was the best and definitely helped he show.

Yeah, they need to start to actually push Ra's Al Ghul just occasiinally telling that he us bad won't do. Show somerhing, give him a connection.

Hell, let him defeat Barrowman in an awesome fight with Thea saving him in the last minute from death or somethig.

You know, for all the shit Laurel and Thea for season one and parts of season two get, I'd take ten of each and all their annoying behavior over Adalind Schade from Grimm.

Season is in dire need to focus on the serial plot and less on the procedural plot, they need to move on with Sarah plot and start throwing Ras in the story

This, basically. He doesn't want laurel to train with a person who has killed another human being and thus becoming a vigilante like Oliver or Sara. That was his moral high ground. And that was the reason why he rejected training Laurel. Surprised so little picked up on it.

I think When it comes to the second Half of the Season i propose a title change

Arrow Season 3 |OT| Triangles...Triangles Everwhere.

Next time on the Arrow, Who's dating who?

The League got Sin to do it somehow.

Or it was Thea trying to protect her dad, not knowing that the Canary is Sara.

I would subscribe to the second theory if it weren't for Ra's creepy reaction to Sara's death. As of now I think it's up in the air because that could have been a fake-out.

Edit: Thanks to Clevinger, I'm back on my first theory. I don't think Thea would have knowingly killed Sara.

*Season 3 of The Flash*

On another timeline Sarah and Laurel are the black and white canary, because shanenigans Sarah becomes the reason all Team Arror and Team Flash is dead except the Flash himself and Laurel. Barry takes a difficult choice, go back in time with laurel to fix this.

*Season 3 of Arrow*

Laurel and Oliver finally tracks down Sarah's killer, is a masked woman on a white outfit. After a deadly fight, they finally catch her and Laurel discovers horrified how behind the mask is herself. "You'll never understand the reason and is something dosn't really matters now, but I had to do it, now kill me". Sarah's killer was Laurel from the futher and now Laurel has to kill Laurel.

*inception horn*

That really touched a nerve right?.

He's just jealous of Ted and now of Ray. There was a time he got all the girls, now all the girls left him and he ended with psychos as only possible choices.

That said, we need Helena back.

Jessica De Gouw is supposedly in the running to play Jessica Jones in another Marvel Netflix show so if she gets that we'll probably not see Helena again any time soon.

I'm blanking on this -- do Sara and Thea even know each other?

The only terrible thing is that Netflix is even considering her. I never saw her in any role where she was good.

Netlix does seem like they will aim for better caliber of actors, even if it means the actors wiill be pretty underwhelming looks-wise, compared to comics, like Matt Murdock. So bassicaly the rewerse of CW :D

Sorry, guys, need to vent for a moment.

Felicity has become a character that I absolutely despise. It's annoyingly, in-your-face obvious that the writers are more focused on pleasing Olicity reddit people than writing compelling stories this season.

I don't care about Felicity's mom, or how she used to be a goth, or what dress she is going to wear to her big date. There is WAY too much focus on her, and none of the scenes with her in them feel like they genuinely belong in the show anymore. I feel like it's just the writers saying "we need to put Felicity in this scene and make another scene so we can give Felicity more screen-time to please reddit."

And I don't buy Oliver being in love with Felicity for a minute. It seems completely out of character that season 3 starts, and he all of a sudden is in love with her. It's a bad fanfic and it adds more pointless drama to the show resulting in Oliver coming off as pathetic and lame.

On another note, what was the point of making Thea a badass? There has been no payoff for that yet, and this new DJ love interest in testing my patients. She seems to have even less to do this season than the last two, but now it's inexcusable because she has been trained by Merlyn.

Writers, drop the Olicity crap (and the focus on Felicity in general) and commit to the characters that really need more development, like Thea, Roy and Laurel.

They've spent way too much time getting their pieces on the board this season. The biggest problem is everything happening with Team Arrow is fucking dull. Don't care about Olicity (and frankly, Felicity "cute awkward IT girl schtick" is lame this season, especially when the relationship drama is all she's got beyond that), Daddy Dig is cute, but they resolved any tension from that in the premiere, and they only just found something for Roy to do as far as a character arc. Nevermind the villains save Nu Vertigo, Cupid, and Merlyn da Gawd have been lame.

All the interesting stuff this season is happening with the secondary characters. I want more of Laurel's training and her dealing with her dad's health. I want to see the results of Thea's training (seriously, they had her go on this trip just to put her right back where she was). In the flashback, I want to see what Waller actually has planned and what happens with Katana's family and China White. I want the damn League of Assassins. I want the Atom. Shit this season needs to get it together.

Is it?

Cause Ollie is a fucking hypocrite surrounded by people who enable his shitty behavior.

Highlight of the season so far has been Katana treating him like shit in the past and Thea calling him on it in the present. All I need is for Laurel to tell him to eat shit and all will be well.

I see that when Lauren is not screen people still need to find a female character to call a bitch, sure Felicity is a horrid person for moving on from the guy that ignored her and rejected her, what a whinny brat for telling Diggle to quit being Oliver's messenger, what an asshole for taking a chance after going to Central city with dat dress to get rejected by a dude that got stepsisterzoned. This fanbase kinda blows sometimes...

Jessica De Gouw is supposedly in the running to play Jessica Jones in another Marvel Netflix show so if she gets that we'll probably not see Helena again any time soon.

In a perfect world she quits arrow and that other show gets cancelled.

Eh, ended up just reading a recap of the latest ep after watching every ep to this point and feeling like the show's been in a slump at best. I dunno. Really enjoying The Flash, though. I'd say for me this season of AoS has been much better than this season of Arrow. The former has been on an upward and satisfying trajectory, the latter feels like it's been treading water and kind of dull.

There is no way that Sara's killer is not League related, the way Ras acted.

Plus we got that silly generic Middle Eastern musical cue right after she was killed.

I'm blanking on this -- do Sara and Thea even know each other?

I forgot Thea hired Sara as mentioned above, but as the sister of Ollie's longtime GF, I assume they've known each other for many years.

The only terrible thing is that Netflix is even considering her. I never saw her in any role where she was good.

I didn't much care for her on Arrow, but she was terrific on Dracula last year.

It is worth remembering that Felicity did say that the analysis of Sara's wound indicates someone with a Mirakuru level strength threw them. Or maybe she just said that if they were thrown then someone would need that level of strength.

I can't remember.

Definitely. I can't wait for Laurel to put him in his fucking place.

Actually, Laurel's whole arc this season has gotten me happy. Legit happy. Katie Cassidy finally made up with the writers!

What are the chances that Ra's turns out to be a red herring and someone else is the main bad guy of this season?

ras-al-ghul-arrow-111012.jpg

Both previous seasons, we didn't get an idea for what was going on till the mid-season finale (Merlyn/Slade reveals)

Also, Slade needs to make a return in the flashbacks, cause we know Waller is shit-scared of him in the present.

Maybe Katana will return in the present, wanting revenge against Ollie for whatever happens.

Hopefully someone with a proper Ras beard. If that's the case I wouldn't mind the Batman Begins twist. Then again, why would he hide even in front of his daughter. That doesn't seem to make sense.
