Is anyone else trying to do all of the events on hard, I'm trying and I feel like I'm wasting my time, doing stuff on hard doesn't really get me more shit right?

I tried but couldn't do 8 of them on Hard; just do hard when it's a bonus condition I guess?

Yay, finally got all Classic trophies.

People are having fun on Miiverse.

lol, who posted that ZSS one? I love reading the comments whenever a lewd miiverse post slips through

I really wish the pro controller had a 3.5mm port so I could plug my headphones in. My monitor doesn't have any speakers or ports, what are my options to plug in headphones or speakers and bypassing the gamepad?

Guys, I don't understand what the Beautification event (w Rosalina) needs me to do. Anyone wanna clarify the instructions? Or do i just not understand how Lip's Stick works? I beat one of the Bowsers using it and he seemed to just respawn instead of staying dead.

Use the Lip Stick and hit all of the opponents with it.
They all need to have flowers on their heads to register a win.

Man, I don't know how I lived without 8-player smash.

Being able to just keep adding in friends and never passing controllers as they come over is fucking amazing.

Used it all day today in an 8 hour session. So good.

I'm a fan of this one.

You just can't trust that man

I hope the store I'm getting my game from have some Amiibos left once I get there. Want to check and see if there aren't any goofy-looking Villager ones there. Not sure about you guys, but I think you could park a car in the gap in between the eyes. Has anyone seen Villager Amiibos that don't have that huge gap?

My cheap solution: I plug the component audio cables into a stereo female to male adapter, then attach a female to female, and finally plug my green speaker cord into that. You can buy online, but if you need them faster I found all of those adapters at a radio shack. Could maybe find then at a microcenter too?

for video I use hdmi. There's an option to split sound to components and video to HDMI in settings

If you have old Wii AV cables laying around, there's an option in the system settings to output audio through HDMI and analog AV simultaneously.

In general, how do you guys like to customize your characters? Do you prefer to round out a character's weakness? (Giving Attack to a character with low killing power or defense to a light character?) or do you prefer to further strengthen a character's strengths? (Giving speed items to Sonic, for example?)

Can someone give any tips for the challenge unlocking "Into the Space Pirate Ship?" The one that requires:
"Play as Palutena in Stage 2 and score 80000 in Target Blast using the back wall"
?

EDIT: Never mind, figured it out. I didn't know which
back wall
it was referring to.

Complete and total Smash newbie here, two questions:

-Who is a good starter character? I've played a couple of characters, main thing throwing me off is most characters regular attacks are very close range, thinking maybe I should play as Link or someone with a sword?

-My biggest problem right now (outside of generally not knowing what I'm doing) is that I'm constantly dashing all over the place because I'm used to just slamming directions for movement when I've been knocked down in games etc. So I feel like I'm moving out of control a lot, is this just something you get used to in terms of being careful how far you're holding the stick?

I've been playing basically single player for around 8 hours. The mileage that this game gets out of the core fighting is damn impressive. The loop of "fight to get better to get more coins to get more trophies/tickets and switch between modes to fight differently to get more coins, etc", is pretty strong. This is the strongest single player offering in the series.

Although, I did bring my Wii U over to my friends for some hours and that was damn fun as anticipated. I haven't tried online yet, but Smash is in strong control for my goty.

I am a newbie as well and can relate. I often feel like I am not in control of my character. The difference between a "tilt" and a "smash" is obvious when thinking about it rationally, but when actially playing, I feel as though I am just mashing buttons. I compare this to a technical fighter like Tekken, where everything felt methodical and this just feels like chaos.

I do have moments where I can be deliberate and get the result that I want. Lately, this seems to be with Link, sometimes Mario.

I think Link, Captain Falcon, and Bowser are pretty good starter characters. Nothing too complicated about them and they have killing power.

The game is all about positioning and timing. Make sure you don't just fall into attacks and feel free to back off when you need to.

I guess it's not that bad I didn't watch any of KTAR XI since it sounds like it was a monumental disaster. Twitch sponsored Melee ($1000) and the top 32 didn't even get streamed? PM didn't get streamed at all? Seven events on 12 setups?

It entirely depends on how you want to play or what you find fun. Generally it's not a matter of characters being "easier" to use, it's just that they work differently.

Link wouldn't be a bad choice if you want range, not so much because of his sword but because of his projectiles. A character like Marth/Lucina/Ike will have the slightly longer range, but without the projectiles.

I'd just suggest playing classic mode on lower difficulties with as many characters as possible. That way you can get a feel for how they work and decide "yeah, this character fits me" or "no, I'm not really feeling it with this one." That will give you something to go off of, and if you try out lots of characters you might find a pattern emerging - maybe you like projectile characters. Make you like slower, more powerful characters. Maybe you like speedier characters that have good punish games. Etc.

(Funny enough, the three examples I gave are covered by Forkball's suggestions - Link being a projectile user, Falcon being a fast rushdown/punisher, and Bowser being a strong, slow bruiser type).

It finished at 4 AM LMAO. And it sounds like from people who went they weren't happy.

Just unlocked Right There, Right On and DK Rap. Now I am happy.
Also, I heard CD's can repeat which is BS. Also you cannot sell extra trophies still!

Well I love this game but I am hopeless. I think I'm 4-13 online or something like that. I need to figure out the character's moves. I like Bowser Jr the most right now. Maybe I just need a lot more practice. Any tips?

P.S- I don't think I can ever go back to the 3DS version after this.
