343 addresses ongoing Halo MCC Matchmaking issues

We are also preparing additional content updates that will address existing campaign, UI, and other issues to improve the overall experience.

can someone explain to me how the hell "content updates" are going to fix "campaign, UI, and other issues"?

fuck extending the beta for 5, when that hits no one will be playing the collection much while its out, it's stupid to release the beta while this problem still exists.

So how is it that Bungie was able to make it work so well out of the gate for an arguably much larger install base for Halo games? I'm guessing 343's resources are incredibly limited compared to the former's.
To play devil's advocate, their releases weren't 4 games in one that has to handle matchmaking for what amounts to 6 games because of the need for classic and anniversary edition playlists for the original Halo and Halo 2.

It's simplifying the issue, sure, but Bungie had a lot less on their plate for what could possibly go wrong when managing the servers for their games. I'm not excusing the troubles at all, as I am affected by this and haven't even bothered playing MCC at all until this is fixed outside of finishing the original game's campaign and getting a third of the way through 2, but I imagine this is a pain to troubleshoot and figure out what exactly is wrong with how the game handles matchmaking.

Isn't that pretty much the same exact thing they said before last week's update? Now that you mention it, I'm also confused why they keep calling them 'content updates', Is that code for "This update doesn't do shit"?

Thanks for the apology, but honestly I don't care for it. There is no way they didn't know about these issues before they released, maybe some would make it through, but this game is broken from campaign to multiplayer. That bullshit about internal tests not picking up on these issues is just a slap in the face. Should have and could have been the best collection of any generation, but as it stands right now it's one of the worst releases, up there with sim city, drivelcub and battlefield.

I don't know how the matchmaking could have been screwed so badly. They've had Halo 4. They've had the original games to work with, which already work amazingly.

Im going to get a refund... this game is a complete disaster as far as multiplayer goes... which is why I bought it... fuck you 343... no really... fuck you.

How was the product released to begin with. It's a joke that i've spent £45 only to have to wait what we most likely be over a month before I can really enjoy it.

After this and Driveclub I'm never downloading or pre-ordering a retail release again.

I dunno about UK specifically, but people have been successfully getting refunds from MS I believe

it was never going to happen fast. You don't go through millions of lines of code, understand, diagnose, fix and test bugs over night. That's just not how reality works.

I would expect things more playable in a couple of weeks, and maybe most things stabilized by the end of January. I think that's most realistic. We can only hope it doesn't turn out like Battlefield 4 where we were into the Spring hoping for launch bugs to be squashed.

Plus anyone in the US probably has Thursday and possibly Friday off, they're not getting jack shit done this week I'm sure. Hope they can fix this all before Christmas

I don't think anyone saw this coming. Who would have thought MS could fuck up Halo multiplayer? No one.

While our team works on continual improvements and towards solutions, my commitment to you is that we will take care of all owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Our primary and continued focus is first on fixing the issues at hand. Once we’ve done that, we will detail how we will make this right with our fans.

hmmm please do tell! :)

I haven't been following the issues, so i don't know the extent or severity of the online problem. That being said, i wonder if it comes down to a ridiculous timeline set by Microsoft to 343i - with the rapid decline in sales and increase in negative public perception since launch, microsoft may have decided very late in the process to create a Halo/Master Chief collection. These issues may all be due to lack of time/resources in both development and QA for 343 . This is just my personal thoughts.

How do devs/pubs get away with it in such a $$$ industry is laughable. And people who bought the game have been deceived. This shit needs to stop right now. Grab your pitchforks, sharpen your blades because the games industry needs a fucking revolution

Throw in MP DLC maps with that revolution. The whole fucking thing needs a paradigm shift

I call bullshit. You're telling me not a single one of the many many bugs could have been found. She's so full of shit. Then you can tell from that this game isn't going to be fixed for a hell of a long time judging by that.

This was good. Now we just need to wait. I hope the community has recovered in a few months time. Really don't want online to be a ghost town.

It's amusing how he says they're working on "tweaks." The matchmaking system is not functioning properly, period, fixing that will amount to more than a tweak.

I found it interesting. I think that it came from Bonnie, the studio head is a good thing. Instead of Frankie or Dan updating us, this is coming from the head of the studio, which I think is about time.

I am looking forward to the fixes and hope that they are coming sooner than later and mainly that they actually work. It will be interesting how they plan on making it up to us. Personally, I don't feel they need to give me anything, her apology was enough, but if they are offering something, I would certainly welcome it as another nice gesture.

I don't understand the "4 games is too much for matchmaking" argument used to justify this.

The matchmaking algorithm should be running before any of these four engines is launched, so how does that affect the current mess in any way?

And how is it simpler than Destiny, a game that is also constantly and seamlessly matching you with players?

It's really annoying that no one in the gaming media has managed a solid interview from someone at the Studio. Do your damn jobs "journalists"
