343 addresses ongoing Halo MCC Matchmaking issues

It's really annoying that no one in the gaming media has managed a solid interview from someone at the Studio. Do your damn jobs "journalists"

Remember they're only "journalists" when they break a news story. Other than that they claim that they're "bloggers".

so are any sites adjusting their review scores or just continuing to base their reviews on nostalgic memories they have of playing mp on the original xbox and xbox 360 versions?

I still can't believe it. In the coming weeks. WEEKS!!!!
Either they are really sitting down and rebuilding this thing or they have like 20 people half assing it while all of the others work on Halo 5.

Why would they? Can't go and bite the hand that feeds them. I mean shit IGN gave the damn game a 9.0 even after waiting till after launch to play it. As broken as this piece of shit is it doesn't deserve anywhere near a 9.0.

So apparently there is a version of this game in the 343 test labs that actually fucking works all the way. Must be nice.

I know maybe they should have released that copy instead of one that resembles something that didn't even make it to certification.

hmmm please do tell! :)

I know, they CAN'T promise that. They just can't. I stake my life this game never works for me online even close to 100%. It's like Murphy's Law governs my videogame life. The first patch has actually allowed a few of my relatives/friends to play a match here or there where they couldn't before (like me)

Me? Nothing.

FUCKING fuck.

They better offer something with some monetary value. Either a free retail game or a year of Gold for free.

Microsoft themselves should be putting a statement out. Their biggest holiday game of the year is busted and they need to address it.

over the coming weeks.

Fuck off 343i, a week was bad enough, two weeks was fucking embarrassing. Now you need even more weeks? "We are going to make it right", watch then dump 3 maps and expect all the be forgotten, as if 100 Halo maps wasn't enough.

Fucking incompetence to the highest degree, just useless.

I'm pretty much done buying games day 1. I don't need a review to tell me everything about a game. But I'm going to wait a couple days to make sure the game isn't broken.

Plus anyone in the US probably has Thursday and possibly Friday off, they're not getting jack shit done this week I'm sure. Hope they can fix this all before Christmas

Some of it? I believe so. All of it? Hell no. End of January? Feels more likely. End of February? Definitely.

Sad reality, bros. 343 & Co. screwed the pooch.

solution: buy Nintendo games and SP-focused, offline games day 1. those are usually going to be solid. it's these games with online MP from publishers not named Nintendo or Capcom that are the problem.

so are any sites adjusting their review scores or just basing their reviews on nostalgic memories they have of playing mp on the original xbox and xbox 360 versions?

The MP does work for some with no problems. Now the single player bugs like halo 2 not saving is inexcusable IMO.

Well. Look on the bright side.

The price is surely going to plummet now and it will feature heavily in games with gold deals next year.

By the time it is fixed you probably will be able to pick it up for 30-40 bucks.

Well at least I have a few other new games to play until this gets figured out. Still a huge disappointment, when I actually made it into Halo 2 Classic games I remembered exactly why that game was so popular.

With the initial release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, however, we have not delivered the experience you deserve. I personally apologize for this on behalf of us all at 343 Industries.
Please accept my heartfelt apologies for the delay and for the negative aspects of your experience to date. We’re doing everything in our power to resolve it as quickly as possible.

If they were actually sorry they would halt the sales of this game until they finish developing it. Instead, they're pissing off more people and ruining this franchise. It's really a sad state of affairs.

On Nov 11th we released Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The goal being to create a tribute to Halo fans around the world, and to celebrate the Master Chief’s debut on Xbox One.

You mean you guys rushed it out the door just to meet a deadline.

On the matchmaking front, we have encountered unexpected issues that were not apparent in our internal test environment. Within 343 Industries and Xbox, I can assure you that resolving these issues is our #1 priority. We continue to partner with the Xbox platform team to analyze all data to make ongoing server-side adjustments to continually improve the matchmaking experience. We are planning multiple server-side tweaks and game content updates over the coming weeks.

You and I both know that this is some plain bullshit PR talk. You guys thought it was a great idea for fervid fans to shell out $60 to beta-test the game. Just admit it. We all know.

Who would have thought Halo would have launched with a fucked up match making lol. By the time they fix it the population will probably be dead.

It's really annoying that no one in the gaming media has managed a solid interview from someone at the Studio. Do your damn jobs "journalists"
They can't find out how to get to settings, let's not get ahead of ourselves. They're probably still wondering how to put the disc into the console.

Well,if it was working it deserves a 9.0. THere's no way they knew the extent of the problem, i'm sure they thought the population was the cause for slow matchmaking.

My problem is now, now where is the interviews? questions? articles? This generation of gaming/media really suck balls.

At least Gamespot changed it to a 6.

So what's more broken online, this or Driveclub?

At least Driveclub worked perfectly offline. Campaign in MCC is still fucked, with game breaking save bugs etc. No idea how DC online is now, as I got the game refunded a couple of weeks ago. Fuck buying broken games only to be a beta tester.

The big difference between DC and Halo is DC was delayed to work on the social features. The fact the game launched with broken online was due to incompetence by Evo. Further delays wouldn't have prevented anything.

Halo was rushed out to meet a critical November launch date. The staggering array of bugs and issues in MCC that encompasses every aspect of the collection points to it being rushed out a good 6 months early. It's not just a server side issue at play here, but campaigns are riddled with issues too. Who knows whether that was MS mandating it launching in this state, or the blame lays equally with 343.

Yup. At this point they're selling a broken game knowing damn well it's broken. That's fraud in my book.

The update that does come after WEEKS better fix the whole damn game. Also, I don't think this is getting as much coverage as it should.
Well. Look on the bright side.

So is the online population.

Especially selling a broken game for the holidays. Fun times!

And some guy thought I was dumb for saying this should affect Halo 5's first day sales.

Please be excited for the wallpaper you're getting.

This was my entry into the halo universe. Not impressed. The "i" in 343 stands for ineptitude.

We fucked up. Please pre-order Halo 5.

Maybe they will offer Halo 5 at a reduced price? Or maybe they will give back $30 purchase price of HMCC?

At this rate they should just give it away with gold when it's fixed and refund anyone who's played it with $60 xbl credit. By the time it gets fixed there'll be nothing left of the population, the game will be forgotten about.

Have their been any articles on this?

Forbes opinion piece had something. That's all i've seen though.

When i sit back and think about it... it's kinda crazy. Ambitious, yes, but these games were MADE already. All they needed to really make sure was working was the net coding, the online matchmaking. WTF happened.

I'll probably shelve the game for a couple weeks then. I've got finals, and a rather large backlog anyway. Its a damn shame tbh, when the game works its incredible, brought me right back to the golden days.

Instead of lip service and promises of some sort of "make good" I'd have a lot more respect for 343/MS if they pulled the damn game from the store, at least digitally, when they are acknowledging that it is broken. Same with Sony and DC.

There was one Forbes contributor article, nothing else that I know of.

Yeah just did a quick search and saw the forbes one, I'm surprised sites like IGN, Gamespot, Kotaku and others aren't talking about this. 2 Weeks in is a long time for this game to be as broken as it is and for it to have no coverage.

Maybe they will offer Halo 5 at a reduced price? Or maybe they will give back $30 purchase price of HMCC?

Reduced price for Halo 5 would be like a slap in the face. The 30$ back would make it worth it, but I doubt that will happen since people who bought physical will need some kind of proof. Especially when it seems like their goal is to take the money and run as fast as possible. If more media doesn't start covering this, that is exactly what will happen.

idiocy
incompetence
insanity
illiterate (some may get that one)

My vocab isn't what it was, hopefully someone can add more.
