Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin announced for PS4/XBO/PC - April 2015

I know there aren't a lot of people saying so, but man, it's really bumming me out to read that some people are now unsure as to which game to prioritise.

Bloodborne is Half-Life 3. This is a remaster of HL2: Episode 1 (forgive me if this doesn't resonate; my Half-Life community consensus knowledge isn't up to snuff).

You will make no stupider decision in 2015 than opting to play, or giving preferential treatment to this remaster over Bloodborne.

And finally, LOL at those screenshots.

IMO, releasing it 13 days after Bloodborne doesn't seem a good choice.

I didn't buy it in PS3 and I think i would wait for a price drop, at least until it will reach 20€

I implore PC owners to not purchase this, even if there's a discount. Obviously, it's your money, but this practice can't be supported. I know this includes all the DLC, but the rest should be free.

How long will it be before we get game releases, with DX11 Day One DLC? And then we bend over again once DX12 comes out next year.
Honestly, if I had the DLC I wouldn't even consider buying this. But I don't actually own the DLC yet, so if the price is right, I could get it.

But they can fuck right off at full price, certainly.

Hmm, the vagueness of the additional story elements doesn't make me think that it will be very substantial on that front =/

EDIT: wait, PC owners need to pay? D:

Strange timing to release it so close to Bloodborne. They should've waited and release this in september or something. Might play the PS3 version again if the changes are noteworthy post-patch though.

Screens do look terrible and not "next-gen" at all. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference with PS3 except for maybe the AA.

So I read some of this, and the gist of this is From Software is screwing us hardcore here?

DX11 version, we have to buy? Non-compatible characters? Multiplayer is not the same servers?

This is absurd!

EA / EA would BLUSH at the idea pulling something this horrible, and less than a year to boot!

You don't have to buy anything.

Saw this comin a mile away just like GTA V. Glad i didnt get any of these for last gen consoles. I'll probably get it but will probably spend more time on Bloodborne.

And this is why I nevwr bought Dark Souls 2 in the first place! Was like 99% sure there would be an upgraded port. Still with the release date being so close to Bloodborne, I'm not sure which one to get first, and whixh one to wait onnfor a while
Same here.

I postponed buying both GTAV and Dark souls 2 on last-gen platforms because I expected definitive versions on next-gen systems.

The announcement of DS2 for PS4 made me strike one more game off my last-gen list before I buy a current-gen console.

considering people complained that the screenshots looked like it's a ps2 game last year, can we say that those look like the ps3 version now? :D

Really want to get a look at the graphics enhancements. If they're bringing back the lighting of the old, old builds, I might actually buy it, because I haven't bought any of the DLC yet. I will damn sure try and find some cheap, Russian price for it or something, though. Not gonna pay full price. Also, it'd be some bullshit that a lot of us saw coming.

If the graphics are only miniscule, I'll probably skip and wait til I can buy the Season Pass for like $10 or less.

Also, hopefully its 60fps on consoles. Should be, seeing how easy it is on PC. Some of you have no idea how much better Souls is at 60fps guys. :)

Avoiding buying this game up until now was the most patience I've ever harnessed.

Now MY PATIENCE HAS PAID OFF!!!
I can finally play it, it's DLCs, and extra content on Next gen console, AND have it all on a Physical format!

or wait for the ps5 super remastered new edition with the better lighting.

I think I'll just buy the Season Pass for the trilogy of DLC like I originally planned... I'm not going to rebuy a game I already own - it's the collector's edition I own too.

OP, please change thread title to 'Real dark souls 2 starts now'

The inevitable PS4 version was why I didn't buy this game this year. And now I'll still wait a couple of months, as I'd rather play Bloodborne first. Don't want to get a Souls overload.

But why shouldn't it? I'd hope at least the PC version would.

It sadly doesn't seem like there are any significant asset upgrades in the screenshots they've released so far. Or lighting for that matter.

(Here's a shot of what the starting area looks like for me now)

Dear god. What's your internal resolution? You can pretty much make out every little detail in pretty much every texture.

Kinda funny how even my modest rig with an E8500 and HD5870 can pump out better visuals than the screenshots they've released so far. But FROM has always managed to take the worst screenshots ever, even worse than Nintendo's :lol

Don't know if this got posted but I do hope this means there will be some kind of upgrade deal...

I already own DS2 and the season pass on steam, and you're telling me I'll need to pay more for DX11 and better online?
Unless its REALLY cheap, no thank you!

What's crazy is that its proving to be a valid business model. People are buying most of the remasters in droves.
Ah, the day people realise PCs allow every game to become a remaster..

I mean people say its expensive but it's probably cheaper than having to buy upgraded copies of every game you own for what essentially amounts to a higher frame rate and resolution.

Are those screenshots in the OP supposed to be the new version?
Because they look worse than what I already played on PC.

Dark Souls 2 with GeDoSaTo looks amazing. Pretty sure the updated version won't lookt as nice as that.
Yeah this just adds to the unlikelihood of me paying too much extra..I just bought a PS4 for bloodborne alone for cripes sake! At least my daughter can play skylanders on it and it will be a better version than the PC version of skylanders. So far NONE of the titles I want on PS4 are 60 FPS....where's the new guts?

I do! the mirror knight fight is particularly good I think. make sure to watch in chrome to see the 60 FPS. This is only 720P, think about how much better it is on my 1440P Korean monitors.

If they get that lightning even more black and white between flashes how good would that be? I'll wait to see it first before paying though.

Maybe I'm just being selfish, but I was hoping any Dark Souls remaster for PS4 would be Dark Souls 1+2 together for $59.99 :(

Dark Souls 2 enchanced!!!!!!

Yeah, I invested a plethora of hours into DS2, but I will gladly do it again, especially with extras and improved graphics, etc. Day 1.

Curious about those PC enhancements , maybe it will look more like those pre-release videos. I'm getting it for sure, no matter the price! A 'Souls' game is always worth the money.

Platinumed. but never kept ps3 long enough to get the Dlc. its out the day before my birthday and bloodborne the week before. hold me gaf.

Not the best souls game but still easily the 2014 game of the year.

If it was a PS4 version of Dark Souls or Demon Souls, I'd be excited.

I never got the DLC for DS2 because I wasn't that into it and I felt this would inevitably happen. I told myself I'd wait until all the DLC was together on PS4.

But now I'll already have Bloodborne when this comes out.

I don't know how much I'll want to get this...will be so easy to just keep waiting for a price job and let it pass me by completely.

Eh. Can't say that I want to double-dip. Releasing the same game twice in a year is a bit... Off.

EDIT: Oh, not a year. So Bloodborne will be out, and it will be irrelevant.

Kinda cool because I have skipped the original release but I don't know how much I will desire this after Bloodborne.

Very curious about the new enhancements in the PC-version. Doesn't look better (worse, actually) but I expect at least some improvement.

But splitting the community on PC is a terrible idea. I guess having a low pricetag would mitigate the effect, but I doubt this will be under $30.
