Let's not pretend the series went drastically downhill after Bungie when Reach is right there for all to see.
I loved Reach. It wasn't the way I wanted Halo going forward to be, but as its own thing it was pretty great. And miles above Halo 4.

Bloom, sprint, etc were all introduced in reach, right?
Right.
Fuck
But let's pretend the series went downhill after the majestic and god tier Bungie moved on.
Pretty damn depressing to see people repeat the series only went downhill after Reach, even more so when these same people claim to be fans who've been playing the series since CE.
Miles above Halo 4? Hardly.
it's the reason we got the Halo 4 we did. Shitty arse loadouts, abilities, crappy writing, less than stellar gameplay were all seeds that were planted in Reach and built upon in 4.
Without Reach, we'd have a totally different 4, so I don't agree that Reach is better, I'd argue it's much worse as it's the main reason we got the Halo 4 we did.
Again, I don't think Reach was the direction Halo should have followed in. But as its own thing I loved it. And it didn't causes 343 to make Halo 4 shitty. 343 causesd 343 to make Halo 4 shitty. I hate how 4 being shit has retroactively made people think Reach is shit.

And, if Halo 4 and Reach weren't enough, we're now getting a sprint based, semi-ADS shooter with ledge and wall climbing, thruster, dash, ground pound type shooter next. If Halo 5 is again not received warmly again, what's truly next? I fully believe Halo 2 Anniversary is what Halo 4 should've been.
It's really annoying that no one in the gaming media has managed a solid interview from someone at the Studio. Do your damn jobs "journalists"
Why would they? Can't go and bite the hand that feeds them.
Question - Is campaign co-op in Halo 2 Anniversary stable for anyone? I cannot get the game to launch a level with either of my two co-op buddies in Halo 2... like, AT ALL.
It's weird because the two of them are able to get co-op running on Halo 2, not without crashes here and there but at least they can get it running. But in over 20 attempts at starting a level online co-op with either of them the game just says 'you've lost your connection to the host' for one of us. Not one successful load of a co-op level in H2A yet.
I can play CE, 3, and 4 co-op just fine (although it's laggy as fuck if I try it with anyone overseas that doesn't have a superb connection), but H2A I cannot load co-op at all.
And before you ask, yes my NAT is open. I've hard reset the system. I've uninstalled and re-installed the game. I've done everything short of giving my XB1 a reach-around to no effect. And I have zero problems online co-op or matchmaking in any other game, and few problems HCE, H3, and H4 co-op. It is literally only H2A that I can't get working in online co-op.
I'm praying this gets addressed too and not just ignored for the 'bigger fish' of matchmaking updates.
Apology of the year candidate?
I only had problems with the Halo 3 campaign in co-op. In which the game ran at what felt like 15~20fps for everyone who's not the host. H2A campaign co-op was smooth for me.Hasn't been answered by anyone yet... asking again.

Everyone keeps saying DLC will be free.. what DLC exactly? i was under the impression this collection had ALL maps already?
if it is new maps, i'm not interested as 343 maps are shit.
Because (relatively speaking) Reach was shit. It's easily the worst Halo game:
- Forgettable campaign
- Bland visuals and artstyle with an identity crisis.
- Armour lock
- Loadouts first
- Sprint first
- Shitty MP maps
- Armour fucking lock
But you know what? The seeds of Halo's decline were there from Halo 2. Bungie's quality as a developer is a myth perpetuated by how great Halo CE still is to this day. CE was a fluke. Hell, they even admitted the pistol (the best part about CE both in SP and MP) was an accident that worked out. Halo 2 added dual wielding, which was shit. They added it because they thought they should, not because they knew what they were doing. They produced an unfinished campaign after having to start from scratch.
Then Halo 3 came along and introduced the equipment, which obviously led to abilities and then perks.
But like CE, ODST was great because it was made in a rush. Bungie isn't a company you give much time or money to, as they've proven time and time again. They're basically the Neil Blomkamp of the videogame industry. Give them a shoestring budget and a timeline and they'll work magic.
Halo was going to decline regardless of how good/bad or indifferent Reach and 4 were. CoD had come along and changed the game and made people realise they don't want to spend their time popping shields before being able to kill someone. Quick TTK is where it's at now and I don't see that changing any time soon.
I"m not trying to argue that 343 aren't terrible, they've pretty much proven they are, but Bungie aren't really any better. Halo 4 would probably have been the same under Bungie. I mean, Destiny is proof that Bungie wouldn't be treating Halo any better than 343 are.
At best, we'd have a working MCC. At best.
I hate to say that I agree with all of this. Halo CE was truly a fluke. Every game since then has shown a very steep decline in quality, yet I still blindly purchased each new edition. I still have amazingly fond memories of Halo 2 multiplayer, but I was 17 at the time and Xbox Live was still in its infancy. I was young and dumb and that was all there way to play.Because (relatively speaking) Reach was shit. It's easily the worst Halo game:

This entire MM issue is still so upsetting to me. Why couldn't this have just worked like I wanted it to?Now I have absolutely no interest to log back on and see if there is any improvement, because other games are holding my attention that aren't broken as shit (Sunset Overdrive, Bayonetta 2, Smash Wii U, MK8 with DLC...)

Semi-ADS? What does that even mean? Its just an animation. It's hardly a big deal is it? You can aim and 'hip fire' pretty much the same way as before.
"with ledge and wall climbing"- Is this really that bad? God forbid they even dare making actual instrumental changes.
"thruster, dash, ground pound " Because this will stop Halo from being Halo?
" I fully believe Halo 2 Anniversary is what Halo 4 should've been" - See I don't get this mentality. You just seem completely resistant to change. When TMCC starts working, just carry on playing that. Its obvious that you're completely close minded about any minute changes to the Halo franchise.
Btw I'm not suggesting that Halo 4 didn't suffer from any mis-steps. Its just that you're already prematurely raising issues with some tiny changes we have seen in Halo. This is why 343 face such a herculean task with the Halo games. On the one hand you have a segment of the fanbase that are stuck in their ways and want a very conservative upgrade from the games that came before and on the other they have this pressure to actually develop and evolve the franchise and keep it up to date.
Damnit man. That means it's probably some weird fluke that only affects a select few types of routers or something. Something something port forwarding or something. Which means my only recourse at this point is to swap out my router with TWC and hope that whatever different one they give me doesn't have the same issue.
It's very, very strange that only H2A won't launch a campaign co-op game for me though. I don't get disconnected from the host (or have them disconnect from me) playing CE, 3, or 4.
What the ever loving fuck.
I disagree, but then I think Reach and Destiny are excellent games
Damn, sonHalo DriveClub Collection
The melodramatic posts and boo hoo tantrums continue lol. The complaining is getting so old and tiresome. Serious lack of maturity going on which i guess i should have expected from gaf.
Mistakes can and do happen. Cant handle it? Go live in a box. 343 has acknowledged the problem several times. Theyre owning the problem. Theyre working to get it fixed. Theyve apologized. Theyve hinted at some form of compensation. Theyre giving periodic updates on where theyre at and what we can expect over the next few weeks. The game works in a subpar fashion but it does work. Nobody's money is wasted if the game gets fixed in the end. Keep that entitled anger going folks. You are all making waves :-/

Granted, I'm not a fan of the halo hype train indoctrination over the years, and halo 2 is my favorite in the series, but I'm going to disagree with your opinion with my own opinion.Just before they shut down the OG Xbox Live servers one of my best mates and I jumped back on for nostalgia's sake.
Within 10 minutes we realised how shitty Halo 2 MP actually was. Broken fucking BR, lag out the ass, glitches, cheaters etc etc. The world had moved on. Hopefully if we ever get a working MCC on dedicated servers it'll improve it immensely. But I won't hold my breath on that.
I'll just keep playing Titanfall and Killzone ShadowFall.
Idiots, perhaps. Reach had the best single player campaign of the series.People thought Reach was shit years before Halo 4 came into the picture.
