343 addresses ongoing Halo MCC Matchmaking issues

I'm aware that one patch can't fix everything and of course this won't be 100% perfect with the next one, however, it would be nice to know what they expect ot fix with the patch this week. Do they expect it to mostly work by the end of the week? I would be fine with 9 out of 10 matches working as advertised, even with 8/10 I wouldn't complain.

If they keep it too vague, people (me) will get their hopes up again and be even more depressed/disappointed about this situation... (if that's even possible...)

Frankie, is there still nothing to say?

Hopefully it is fixed in a somewhat timely manner, although from the wording it sounds like a 100% fix may be some ways off. I am not looking to get a refund on my digital copy, as I will be there day one when it is fully fixed (and also prior to that).

The only thing i'm guessing they will give us as an "apology" for the troubles is a extended beta(would love to play a few weeks earlier) or some MCC DLC. I really hope it's not that new halo top down shooter, people would riot lol.

These fuck ups just keep getting worse and worse. Seems like every other game these days is riddle with bugs or just straight up broken. it's unacceptable.

I'm not completely surprised. This whole collection seems to have been a rushed release MS fast tracked for release this year after it became certain there was no way they'd be getting Halo 5 done by the end of 2014. And you kind of get what you pay for. Four games remastered in such a cheap package... It sounded a bit too good to be true. Smaller HD remasters collections with 2-3 (single player) games only have taken a longer time to be developed and still been a bit wonky upon release, was hard to believe they wouldn't screw up something with a year one release of such a big collection, especially with a huge emphasis on online MP.

Halo is an evergreen franchise no? (Ignoring halo 4)

It might not ever be the resurgence that you all hoped for, but eventually you will have no problems finding games.

Especially people who mostly play with RL friends, that will be enough.

Exactly. The launch state of this game is largely irrelevant; more than enough people want to play classic Halo and will come back to it when its fixed.

I think time is going to tell, but 343i is pretty much burning the last amount of goodwill they had with the franchise with this launch. There are so many great games out there, I don't see people waiting over a month to get the online functioning and coming back in droves when it works.

People didn't stick around for Halo 4 to get better, and I don't think people are gonna care enough to come back with 2015 looking so great, let alone the stacked 2014 holiday release that we just witnessed.

Doubt that. Gamers have a really short memory of getting screwed, and Halo could sell on name alone to its fans, plus pre release hype trains blind consumers.

I don't know about that.

After what happened with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (on Xbox 360), Halo 4 (on Xbox 360), & now, Halo: Master Chief Collection (on Xbox One), it's going to be really hard for Microsoft & 343 Industries to convince a lot of folks to jump back on the Halo train with Halo 5, especially casuals.

Cancelled my halo 5 preorder today, I've bought every halo on release including CE on OG xbox launch day, however the ongoing problems with MCC and now the slap in the face from discounting it on Black Friday before those who paid full price can enjoy the game has upset me greatly - especially as I bought halo 4 which from a multiplayer fans perspective was hugely disappointing.

I'll pick up halo 5 after reading the gaf comments that the multiplayer is good and stable and after it's had a few price slashes, something they seems to be all too common for xbox one titles now.

343 handling of the MCC multiplayer has been shocking and I refuse to play it until it's fixed.

When do devs ever learn the "internal test environment" is not a representative test of the real world at all. You have people connecting all over the world, how can an "internal test" (done probably in a single building) simulate that in the slightest?

as someone who had to put a much more boring and non gaming related product live for a business and then had a 'game breaker' appear in the wild on day one, I sort of want to reach out across the internet and punch you right in your clueless nuts.

broken games are annoying, buy your 'they did this on purpose' garbage doesn't even make a lick of logical sense.

Theres no way they didn't know of these bugs pre launch. Delaying the Halo 1 playlist, all the SP issues, and the ability to kick players without being host in H2A being in the H2A tourney show this.

Incoming free copy of Spartan assault.
I'd laugh so hard at the disconnection between 343i and the user base if that happened, as it was already free with GWG a few months back. And probably end up weeping when I realize who's responsible for Halo.
how hard was that girl rolling on E lol
Doesn't look like she's that far gone, looks more like she's deliberately acting like that. She peeks into the camera for half a second with a serious look.

I don't know man, her and her friends pupils are fucking MASSIVE

and that peek can just be because she's absorbed by all the pretty lights and sensations. she's a pretty good actress if she's not really rolling, i've been around a lot of rollers back in the day and she's convinced me :P

The thing that really convinces me watching the video is the heaviness of her eyelids. There's a very specific way rollers look when they're at the height of their ecstasy, and that is HARD to replicate

Sorry off topic. 343i should fix this game lol

Too little too late. This release should have been remembered as possibly the greatest collection in gaming history. Now it's nothing more than a cheap cash grab thrown out there by the executives. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if releasing Halo 2 was the initial plan. Then when XB1 sales started tanking they came up with this idea to help drive sales.

I'm sure they will fix the problems eventually but games should work at launch not months later. I however doubt issues such as shitty framerates will ever be fixed. Too many devs these days are touting their games as 60fps when in reality they aren't. It's also very poor that customs and co op don't run on dedis, especially when Titanfall does it so well and this is a damn first party game. Power of the cloud lmfao.

I got a refund on my copy and advise others to do the same. This will be on GWG next year to help drive interest for Halo 5. They are gonna need it after Halo 4 and now this.

Haha are we really going to discuss how far she's gone :p Looking at the YouTube video I've got to agree with you, I take my words back.

OT: Fix Halo.

What happened with Halo CEA?

343 better give more than in-game items. Absolutely shambolic. I've played maybe 5 online matches and no sp and spent hours trying with a friend at first.

Unless it was free additional H2 maps remade.

sorry i don't do drugs anymore so living vicariously through those who are fucked up is a little thrill for me :(

But hey at least 343i wasn't on drugs when they released this game. It just LOOKS like they were.
KIDDING GUYS

Wake me, when you fix me.

Man, reading some of the responses, 343i is taking the blunt of this fiasco, but frankly, I'd bet money that Microsoft is more to blame than the developer. They probably pushed for that release date to have FH2, SO and MCC almost back-to-back-back, while dropping the price of the XBO to $349.

I really hope they get this fixed, it's a big disservice to the Halo franchise and its fans.

the disservice is desperately trying to keep the franchise alive even after its creator has moved on...

Exactly. The launch state of this game is largely irrelevant; more than enough people want to play classic Halo and will come back to it when its fixed.

Except it's not. Even Halo fans that have been around for a decade or more are getting refunds or trading it in. It's foolish to think the playerbase will come back. Why? It's going on two weeks+ now. Others have moved onto other games, others have lost that hype and momentum. I post non-stop in HaloGAF and have for the past two plus years. I joined for the Halo community here. And even my hype and urge to play has severely plummeted. A year of hype, I bought a console, a play and charge kit, a stereo headset, just to play this game and I'm not sure even if it gets fixed if I'll want to play.

I knew people who took time off of work to play this game. After the first day, they all went back to work and waited for the weekend. Nothing was fixed. They probably feel the same way. Yeah when all is said and done I'll be back playing, I played Halo 4 for almost two plus years. But I bet the player population will be fraction of what it was or could've been had it not launched like this. The casual and non hard-core crowd won't come back, especially if places like my local EBGames are telling people who are about to buy that matchmaking straight up isn't working.

mentioned in the other thread that as long as the game ends up being supported through the holidays and next year, i wont be too upset about it. it's a shame the game didn't get much of a chance to revitalize the community; i was looking forward to playing with some old friends and running custom games on forge maps, but nobody is really interested with all the issues lying around. my enthusiasm for forge plummeted from a high it hasn't reached since 2010 (no pun intended)

more than anything, i hope one of the content updates addresses the framerate problems. all of the H2A maps have noticable drops, and forge drops way more than it did in Reach and H4. if those aren't fixed soon, i may just have to cash in on those refunds.

Well, some people might be upset that in order to get the game and the out in time to match the price cut trying to beat PS4 sales in November, they released a game in a knowingly not fully completed state.

Attempted to play tonight once more and I got into one game in an hour of trying. Party system is completely fucked, the Xbox OS tells me my friend has joined my game when in game they have not and I can't invite them or join them. The game actually thinks they're in my party and gives me the option to make him leader or kick him, makes no freaking sense.

There is just so much stuff. I think this post gives you a good idea of how messed up this thing is.

http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=139906543

In case you cant tell what that is, it's UI on top of UI.

I am done. Off to play another game. It's sad to see halo like this, next time I won't be so gullible. Nonstop problems for the entire community that supports 343i.

edit: this only started happening after the
Nov. 20th update

You got to be kidding me...

the disservice is desperately trying to keep the franchise alive even after its creator has moved on...

The way I see it is that the games were supposed to be remastered to take advantage of the new console. On top of that, it's not one game but multiple. That's not a bad thing for fans of the series.

Unfortunately, that effort was FUBARed by MS/343i.

Fantastic UI work from UFG right there.

Seems MS shouldn't have farmed this out to four different developers, might not be the disaster it is right now if they had kept it to Saber/CA and only released H2A with both re-imagined and old school maps.

How about Gears of War? In your opinion, does that have the potential to realise a AAA classic?

Or is the Black Tusk all-stars performing a disservice on the scale of 343i?

It still seems pretty bad then? I've been wating to upgrade to Gold but have been sitting out while I wait for the all clear from you lovely beta testers!

I'm guessing there isn't much 343 can do that they aren't already doing I bet there are some poor soles working 14 hour + days trying to resolve the issues and other part of the team working hard on general fixes. So probably good on them for putting the effort into resolving the issues ASAP. That said it shouldn't ever be in this bad of a state in the first place, you can understand some teething problems and actual server load issues but this doesn't seem to be that it just seems to be fundamentally broken with the skill/numbers in matchmaking.

For it to be two weeks on and peeps still seeing it taking 1 hour to get into a game to be a success then something is rather broke. Hopefully they resolve the issues pretty soon but with all issues as big as this it is going to take time and everyone is going to be far more sensitive to the smaller issues so no doubt from the actual fanbase point of view the game is going to be broken for a good 2-4 months.

As for the promise of the gift to compensate the early adaptors I doubt it is going to be something that pleases the players. Either 1 month of Xbox Live, Halo 5 discount/beta early access (what a dumb idea that would be, experience the overload servers one more time!) or maybe a free Xbox One game (Ryse, Killer Instinct etc).

Good on them.

I've just been playing campaign coop with no big problems. And the only times I've tried matchmaking solo I haven't had problems either, sucks some people have tho.

343, as an apology let us have the full range of armor customization.

I have never had that GUI problems...What reason may cause that ?

its something to do with switching menus too fast or something. Ive gotten it a few times. it goes away sometimes, other times u have to reboot the game. it really is one of the problems i care least about...MM and in game bugs are more important.
