343 addresses ongoing Halo MCC Matchmaking issues

So I got a refund finally for the digital version by telling them the single player was kicking me back to the dash. Saw someone suggested it on reddit, and it works so far. Just go through their troubleshoot, and at the end, tell them it still kicked you to the dash.

Is it the truth or are you lying ;) Because than you are part of the problem and fucking it up for players who do have a problem.

I can't believe they managed to take old, last gen, even 10+ year old games and make them worse on a next gen console. Matchmaking is not the only problem with MCC sadly. Still having fun playing with my son but man, we played Halo 3 a couple of days ago, the pop in in the fist level is ridiculous in split screen coop, just embarrasing, vegetation pops in like just a few feet in front of you all the time, just awful, and the framerate is still bad too.

If the premise is that situations like this are something publishers can't consistently control, they'd be best served making a move toward "soft" launches, and away from pushing pre-purchasing. Without deliberate changes to expectations for what launch-window actually means for game quality, it's unacceptable. If the claim is that they can't control situations like this, I know I'd at least appreciate a shift in the labeling. This is hardly just directed at 343, but it certainly applies. The scope of these problems is hardly a small oversight.

This is going to crush my circle of Halo friends when I have to give them the link to this letter.

I can hear them now, "a few weeks?" Ugh. :(

What a disappointment. Unless we get new DLC maps for Anniversary, I can't say I'm interested in an extended Halo 5 beta or another season of Nightfall.

Outside of that, I really don't know what 343 can do to "make it right" with fans. I feel like the only thing they have up their sleeve are the other unreleased Bungie titles. I mean, is it unfair of me to assume that anything that is indepedently 343 is worth anything? Am I being a dick by saying that? :/

They'll give out that Halo mobile game they ported to consoles just like they gave the suckers they fleeced out of $500 a 5 year old $10 indie (Limbo).

Gerstmann was right! How do you, as Microsoft, fuck up HALO?!

of all franchises to drop the ball on you drop it on the franchise that made you.

it would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.

The multiplayer doesn't work at all for me.Can't do co-op with friends, can't even do customs. Achievements don't unlock for me, and I can't even load Halo 2 campaign at all

I tried to get a refund by telling the truth earlier. So it's a lie, but not a full blown lie. Still selling my x1 since the only game i wanted to play is broken.

Unless they send Money my way i don't care whatever they hage to offer. I don't care about Halo 5, a game at least a year away.

Yea....this has to be fixed before Christmas. If the Xmas buyers see the game STILL this "hot out the oven" and a mess, then they truly fucked up

They still did, but at that point it's pretty much over

Halo Reach launched and didn't have a single patch for its first year. No day one title update, no stability updates, nothing. They built a finished game and pressed it to a disc. How often does that happen now? It wasn't very common then either.

Been trying for the last 40 minutes to get into a match on various playlists - Your connection to the host has failed, please try again.

Every time :(
Too much truth in this post :(

Good news, got a refund for my digital purchase phew. Just be genuinely nice, and the chat people will do everything they can to help you out. Cant wait till the game is working again, Ill have no problem investing again once GAF gives the ok to do so...

So how is it that Bungie was able to make it work so well out of the gate for an arguably much larger install base for Halo games? I'm guessing 343's resources are incredibly limited compared to the former's.

Maybe it's down to four games all running from one hub? Various engines and that linked with playlist from all games. I dunno

How do you go about returning this game if it was downloaded from the xbox store?
I literally just did an online chat with Xbox support, and got a refund. Just be nice and patient, and they'll help you out. He said that the refund approval went through(which took about 20min? idk why), based on known issues of the game and he refunded my card. Picking up Super Smash tomorrow!

Since the formation of 343i they've done nothing but apologize for their incompetence. It's getting really, really fucking tired.

Halo 4 sucked, sold worse than Halo 3

Most of the Halo books post Bungie suck, Contact Harvest and Fall of Reach are still the best

Wasn't a fan of FuD, got decent reviews

Halo MCC is broken, will lose them sales on Halo 5

Halo Nightfall has been destroyed by reviews and sucks

Halo 5 has pissed of many fans due to ADS and sprint aswell as low killtimes

343i sucks at building the Halo franchise

I know it'll never happen, but making it right... Reach Remaster...

You want them to try to remake another game?

Also Halo 4 that is shipped on the game isn't even the most up to date version...

I was looking to buy this as a gift but it looks like it wont be ready for some time, and with loads of new ppl jumping in on BF it'll probably get worse. Best of luck to 343.

Why are people still unsure Halo 5 will work?

343 have no problem launching THEIR OWN game. Halo 4, for all it's faults was stable and that's without a beta.

It's when 343 outsource that it all turns to shit. Halo CEA on 360 had broken co-op and online was a Reach map pack. MCC is an outsource and it's completely fucked.

Halo 5 will be fine. It will work, it's a matter of quality that's the issue, not functionality. It will be on dedis and won't have an issue. Holding off on 5 to "see if it works" is silly. Similar to those who held off on Xbox One "in case of RROD" all the while forgetting that post Falcon onwards the 360 was fine and the OG was an indestructible brick of doom.

We shouldn't act like knowledgeable gamers on the one hand, but then ignorant J6P on the other. You're either one or the other.

Halo channel is broken thats made by 343

Have they acknowledged the campaign issues? Like losing save progress? That is as much a priority as matchmaking, but their statements only focus on the PvP side.

I am sure they know about it. But if you play one level at a time, the compaing is actually pretty playable.

Question - Is campaign co-op in Halo 2 Anniversary stable for anyone? I cannot get the game to launch a level with either of my two co-op buddies in Halo 2... like, AT ALL.

It's weird because the two of them are able to get co-op running on Halo 2, not without crashes here and there but at least they can get it running. But in over 20 attempts at starting a level online co-op with either of them the game just says 'you've lost your connection to the host' for one of us. Not one successful load of a co-op level in H2A yet.

I can play CE, 3, and 4 co-op just fine (although it's laggy as fuck if I try it with anyone overseas that doesn't have a superb connection), but H2A I cannot load co-op at all.

And before you ask, yes my NAT is open. I've hard reset the system. I've uninstalled and re-installed the game. I've done everything short of giving my XB1 a reach-around to no effect. And I have zero problems online co-op or matchmaking in any other game, and few problems HCE, H3, and H4 co-op. It is literally only H2A that I can't get working in online co-op.

I'm praying this gets addressed too and not just ignored for the 'bigger fish' of matchmaking updates.

Really? Was it a good launch for Halo 4? Did you forget that they accidentally released a map pack to everyone then had to remove it? Did you forget they had to patch in the ability to get achievements in one of the map packs (a problem present again in the MCC)? Did you forget that Certain Affinity made most of the multiplayer?

There's no basis for the thought that Halo 5 will ship unbroken other than wishful thinking. Which isn't exactly what "knowledgable gamers" rely on for purchasing decisions.

These are only the issues I know about from the limited time I played that garbage game. I'm positive there's more.

For now I just pretend that this game does not exist. Shovel Knight, Inquisition and other games help me with that.

This is a disaster. The game is so incredibly half baked. If you can get into a match, which I only seem to be able to for Halo 2 Anniversary, the teams are NEVER even. They'll launch with odd numbers all the time and what the heck is up with this 5v5 for everything nonsense?

Halo 2 Anniversary campaign is super buggy and the A.I is just flat out weird at times. Looks great though.

Playlist selection is absolutely atrocious. A few more weeks of this and they will be approaching DRIVECLUB levels of wmbarrasent, though I'd argue this is slightly worse because 1) It's Halo 2) It's a goddamn re-release and 3) IT'S FUCKING HALO A SERIES WHICH PEDIGREE LIES IN ITS MULTIPLAYER COMPONENET AND ITS ROCK SOLID STABILITY.

Wow weeks! That kind of sucks. I would have expected MS not to have any major server issues (that couldn't be solved within a day or two) with the amount they spend on servers, R&D and development on this stuff.

Hope they get it sorted before the big winter holiday/break period otherwise it will be pretty crummy if they don't get this sorted before 2015.

Its all bullshit until they give us something good in return. They released a broken game knowingly. I don't give a shit if they're sorry. I give a shit when they give us extra content or a partial refund as an apology.

as someone who had to put a much more boring and non gaming related product live for a business and then had a 'game breaker' appear in the wild on day one, I sort of want to reach out across the internet and punch you right in your clueless nuts.

broken games are annoying, buy your 'they did this on purpose' garbage doesn't even make a lick of logical sense.

Oh, they knew. When they posted that stuff the weekend before launch about how Halo 1 wouldn't have a playlist and how nothing except H2:A Team would have ranking system at launch in order to "monitor network activity", that should have been a huge red flag.

I honestly don't think there is any type of compensation that can make this right.

It will all be forgotten once it's fixed, but I'm an idiot for buying knowing these issues existed.

can someone summarise the Halo MCC experience for me?

I mean, I'm aware matchmaking takes a while from browsing but i'm guessing there's more?

enough summary?

But seriously, campaigns/coop work well enough to enjoy (had very little problems, only some achievements not unlocking in time and some rare frame drops), customs work well enough to enjoy (didn't have any problems), matchmaking is a mountain of poo

I'm wondering how to balance the blame between MS having them release a clearly broken game, and 343i just being incompetent in developing it (at least the network side of things and managing the outsourcing)
