Yeah, I had the same experience, switching directly between DS2 and DS1 even.QFT. Sometimes it feels as if people are actively looking for things to dislike, forgetting that despite it being a bit weaker in certain aspects, it's still a phenomenal game and most certainly my GOTY.
And what's that about controls being unresponsive? I heard that was the case on consoles, but the first thing I noticed about the sequel was his reactive the player character was to your inputs.
While Durante deserves praise and all that, I'd much rather see the first Dark Souls getting a proper PC version. Dark Souls II already runs just fine.

PC gamers who already own the original and DLC. Assuming everything else is correct and there will be no save data transfers and a seperate. How much of a discount are you willing to buy Dark Souls 2: Prepare to Rebuy Edition as an entirely new sku?
I want to say $15 for previous owners would be acceptable. I've already spent $75 on this game and it's DLC. The new content will probably not be much bigger than each individual piece of DLC and the graphic options and multiplayer boost should have been patched in since we never had the restraints last gen consoles did. It will suck losing my character I've built over 300 hours but as long as they make it cheap enough that most of the community doesn't feel screwed and moves over I can deal with that loss.
RIP My Dickwarith...
However, after 30-40 hours I couldn't find the same satisfaction with Dark Souls II. The World does not seem inspired, I don't have the same great fun that I had with Demon's Souls and Dark Souls and I really can't tell why. I still need to complete the game but after so many hours invested it's hard for me to understand how I'm not having fun with a series I like so much. There were some nice locations but the most felt a bit bland and it's a shame I feel this way regarding the latest Souls game since I wanted to like it so much as I did with previously entries.
Thing is, I can accept that there are people who dislike the game, I don't have a need to prove that it's fantastic.
Paying ANYTHING for this garbage is unacceptable if you already own the game+Season Pass, which should include ALL new content, new SKU or otherwise. But I guess we're playing "Scamco - the Capcom we want ya' money game when it's totally unnecessary". Whereas far greater updates like the FTL update and Dustforce DX update were FREE to all previous owners, and these were Indies with far lower budgets and install bases. Really goes to show who's doing it for the money, and who's doing it for the passion of game making and respecting their customers. So if you support this behavior, please buy this and show your true colors.
Also find it hilarious in their little list they mention NOTHING about restructuring and fixing the horrible broken mechanics and control calibrations from DkS2, or Poise or hitboxes, or untying the roll speeds and i-frames from the ADP stat (stupidest thing I ever saw in a Souls game imo). Their just basically doing scaling and nerf/buff crap on a larger scale, doing who knows what with NPC's, and putting on a shiny new coat of paint and hyping it like it's the "new black"...for of course a price even with the Season Pass already bought. They also mention NOTHING about fixing their terrible "restriction system" they implemented after the terrifucked up VAC support (great competence there), based on, you guessed it Soul Memory, another example of a hideously bad idea that even goes so far as to screw legit players while cheaters/hackers get free passes!
TLR - Fuck Scamco. PC game didn't need a new SKU for PC, just a good sized update for free, I'm running a Quad-SLI Titan Z rig with a 6-core Haswell OCed, 32GB G.Skill DDR3 and somehow, somehow I've got to buy a new version/upgrade of the game that supports DX11?? What is that, this ain't 2005. Oh yeah, I forgot, Namco is scum and just wants your money and doesn't give a shit about it's customers one way or the other...lining the CEO's pockets = greatest bottom line. Good ole fashioned business decision, we've got here.
Well.... well fuck :/
Should I even finish my 50 hour or so save?I'm a little ways past the mirror knight/Dranglec Castle
Still going to buy it cheap at steam winter sales.
I always been a Souls fan and I remember when I played Demon's Souls (still my favourite in the series). I got an imported Asian copy since the game was not even available for Europe or NA. Finished one year after having the game. While I love these game I a bit... bad at them but this never stopped me from keep on trying and trying and... trying.
After finishing the Demon's Souls I pre-ordered the Limited Edition of Dark Souls for the PS3 and I was here on the Day One GAF Hype. I had some difficulty with the game and after no longer having my console I left the game unfinished. Months later I was able to play the Prepare to Die Edition on the PC and I had a great time. Finished the game and the DLC as well. Just like Demon's Souls, I loved Dark Souls Prepare do Die Edition. Such a great experience not to mention the amazing soundtrack.

Dark Souls II: Dollars from the First Suckers.
Now do I buy the DLC during the steam winter sale or just wait for this new version to come out?
I already got 160+ hours of enjoyment out of the base game.
I guess it depends on how drastic the improvents are.
Dark Souls looks and plays amazing at higher resolutions. The art style really shows itself.
I say 15 IF there is a sizeable amount of extra content which would make it like a 4th DLC. If little is added any extra money spent would be a bit hard to justify.
If you already own the Season Pass...............it should ALREADY be paid for. Period. Otherwise what did I pay all that cash for the Season Pass for? Three garbage DLC's that not only didn't address the community's issues with the base game, but in some cases went even crazier with those designs/setups. So, basically three terrible DLC's vs. Artorias of the Abyss ( which was FREE on PC and far better in every respect all thing considered) is what I gained from purchasing the Season Pass?
You mention a 4th DLC...which should by proxy be part of the "Season Pass". At least Irrational got it right with their Season Pass unlike most games...

DS2 would basically have to be rebuilt from the ground up to address all of the issues I have with it. A fancier coat of paint isn't going to hide its glaring problems. That said, I'll try to reserve judgment until I hear how these gameplay tweaks manifest themselves, but I'm not terribly hopeful.
The timing of its release is also really strange; who's going to go from Bloodborne back to something as recent as DS2? I honestly think a port of DS1 would fare better.
