If you watch this part in a big 1080p res, you can see that he is looking/has his head down as he pulls out the saber. The way it is shot sort of seems to me that he doesn't see anything so much as he probably senses someone/something off screen and stops to defend himself/get ready for shit to go down.

I've said this previously but to me it looks like there is somekind of a hatch beneath the snow which possibly leads to a tomb of some sort. It kind of feels like that.

I hope we don't find out anything.

I hope they keep it as vague as possible.

I hope they're still putting out fake leaks until this movie comes out.

The walk looks so ridiculously "I'm a bad guy" act.

Boyega's character arc in this trailer was empty and forgettable. Don't even get me started on how they thought they could develop Daisy by just having her ride around on sand cruisers through the whole movie. Everyone tried to warn me about Abrams doing this but I didn't listen.

Maybe we'll at least get a good Williams score but he'll probably phone it in just like the actors have.

This is sarcasm right?

It looked like sarcasm, until the second part. 0/10.

I don't know about everyone else since I didn't read all the comments, but I grew up on the star wars films as a young kid cause my older cousin brought over the vhs of all them and showed them to me.

I think they are what turned me into somewhat of a movie buff as I discovered a love for movies after those films.

and the part in this trailer when the millennium falcon is shown, gave me chills. I approve of this trailer.

JJ abarams, do what you do!

Maybe it's a saber made from Maul's, or Maul's and Vader's.

Actually looks a bit more like Vader's. Certainly nothing like Maul's or Luke. It seems to have the same bands on the lower part of the handle. Luke and Maul's don't look anything like this.

Vader sabres from the three movies:

I conclude it is Vader's, with slight differences.

Lucas is an awesome storyteller. Not the best at dialogue but Ive always liked his actual stories regardless of the specific writing. He wrote the outlines for the sequel trilogy but I'm guessing it has still been changed around a lot. I think Lucas' basic story will remain intact, his actual backbone of basic events. That's why he's credited. So people worried about that shouldn't be. I think its good for Lucas to have a say in the story.

That being said he's not writing these nor will any of the dialogue will be from him but what people may not realize is that we're still likely to get cheesy writing because that's kinda how SW has always been. Just because Lucas isn't writing doesn't mean the scripts will be flawless. This is where I feel the hate he gets is blown out of proportion. They see him being even remotely credited and get worried.

Kasdan did a good job on Empire but that was a while back. I'm pleased to see him on the project, but it doesn't really mean that it's going to be at that level again. But it could be! I'm just saying its still early for assumptions. Abrams is also a writer on it.

No it's definitely the "stomping my feet and flexing my arms" tantrum-walk topped with unnecessary motion to activate the saber as if you needed to shake it violently to make it work.

I've seen some snow and ramps in my time.

It's not okay for that to maybe be just kind of what that character is like, mannerisms, personality, etc.?

Slowly downing on me we are getting a new starwars movie and I dont know what to do, maybe go out screaming on the street.

Fuck, dat theme love it!

People are freaking out over the most ridiculous things. The light saber hand guard, the way the camera moves behind the Falcon, judging an actor's abilities based on two seconds of them NOT TALKING, the "soccer ball" droid not being functional? Have these people never seen Star Wars? Not everything makes sense... I think everyone should just chill and realize that the original trilogy had some weird stuff (and some shitty ass acting) -- the huge, mile long worm that lives on an asteroid for example (or how about AT-ATs? I mean what the fuck, it's a stupid idea but SO AWESOME).

BTW - The camera movement behind the Falcon is freaking genius. I got the feeling that the Falcon was moving in such a way that the camera man couldn't keep up. It was a blast watching it.

Is there a wallpaper sized version of the X-Wing scene available anywhere? I got the Falcon shot from here yesterday but haven't found a big enough X-Wing one.

We don't actually know even that do we? I know it's the major assumption, but has it been proved beyond informed speculation?

Want to be Sith who by the end of things might not even end up the villian and turn good.

But we don't officially know anything yet.

Unfortunately for you, you don't get get to police what people think about the trailer, and you certainly don't get to set a limit on what is "actually bad."

I do have the right to voice my opinion on yours though. And yes, the nitpicking at things like lightsaber guards is stupid. Very very very stupid.

The design of the lightsaber guard, if it is a guard, is stupid because it wouldn't actually be functional as a guard. Notice how I didn't have to insult you simply because we disagree.

The guard would actually protect the user from quick attacks at the wrist.

And me thinking the nitpicking of the guard is stupid is not an insult to anyones person. But it appears you are just trying to nitpick now, yourself.

Probably old, but I think that cloaked person in the trailer don't want this happen to him/her/whatever.

Considering how lightsabers go through pretty much anything that should happen in every lightsaber fight.

I wonder if lightsaber would go through a planet if you dropped it while it was activated.

You weren't merely voicing your opinion. You were whining like a child saying "Oh why can't we just have fun!" I think telling people to not pick apart the teaser is stupid. Like I said, what do you want people to do? Sit here and jerk off onto the trailer? It's 88 seconds long. Unless you're reading leaks, there's nothing else to go on, so it's all we have to look at. Most people by now aren't picking the guards apart for accuracy reasons but because they think they look dumb. That's a perfectly legitimate opinion.

Lightsabers automatically turn off when the user drops them (one exception is when Vader threw his at Luke during the final duel in ESB).

Word Word.

I feel like this thread would be less than 2000 replies if that lightsaber 'guard' wasn't there

My thoughts exactly.

I get why the guard is there for the saber. Wouldn't want to end up with your hand chopped off. But answer me this. Why is there still an empire? I thought that it was gone with the emperor dead and all. Disclaimer: I know nothing about star wars outside the 6 movies already released.

As I thought, you're a pathetic shitposter, contributing nothing to the discussion. Wonderful.

Carry on.

I would presume that just because the emperor dies, the command structure of the entire empire doesn't disintegrate. Major parts would, but some would be left. In the Expanded Universe (now not-canon though), the Empire remains in some form for quite some time. I'm sure they'll have an excellent explanation for it existing 30 years later.
