Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

Thanks for the reply, but I may just wait for that patch, this sucks today was my only free day.

“We are working hard to finalize the process to move your Dark Souls: Prepare to Die saves and achievements to Steam. We need to conduct additional testing and we are now targeting December to begin this process. We'll have more information in the coming weeks. Thank you very much for your patience!”

Sounds like it could take awhile.

Oh man, I built my gaming pc a couple of years ago but it never got much use. Now that I moved and have a dedicated game room I am into this steam sale.

I posted my pickups from yesterday earlier in the threa but I was browsing and just got the following

Binding of Isaac original and expansion
Gunman Clive
Witcher 1
Witcher 2

All for about 5 bucks.

Amazing!

Picked up Men of War: Assault Squad for a few dollars. I'm terrible at RTS games, but I have a soft spot for MOW singleplayer. I wish I could enjoy online coop but by the time I buy these games everyone is a veteran and rolls through the maps like gods.

Is Thief worth 7.49?

It's a flawed Thief game, basically it has a lot of the pitfalls of triple A games, context sensitive controls that feel really out of place in the Thief series (limits where and when you can perform many actions), quick time events, parametric button presses, a few scripted action sequences and far too many cinematics that constantly shove the terrible story and characters in your face. The City, which acts as the main hub between all of the missions, is claustrophobic and this feels more like a constraint of being designed for older consoles than an actual design choice. The paths you travel through the hub to get from one mission to the other are really limited and makes travelling through it rather boring quite quickly. It probably took about halfway through the game for some interesting levels to appear.

It will take you about 15 hours to beat if you don't bother playing through much of the side content if you do buy it. Just don't go in expecting anything great and you might derive some enjoyment out of it.

Just got Dragon Age Origins Ultimate.

First time getting into the Dragon Age series.
So jealous, wish I could in the same shoes as your.
Then ignoring Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition ever happened

How is dragon ages story?

Decent and solid, but personally I like the background setting and the lore behind more than the main story. At the time of its release, it was my first fantasy game with slightly grounded tone and well thought various aspect of the world which makes me really liked it.

damn! Thank you for reminding me. Had just recently added 1404 to my wishlist after seeing it in my discovery queue (yeah, I use it to "not interested" 95% of the available games, but was flabergasted when I saw 1404 on it. Because it was not available on steam for a very long time.)

It still isn't on US steam :(

Enjoy.

Maybe there's a fix on pcgamingwi-
Crashing issues
The game crashes across the campaign with a multitude of systems for no apparent reason, there are no current workarounds for this.

I would recommend just skipping the original Binding of Isaac at this point. The Remake includes all the original content running in a much more stable environment with plenty of new content.
I would also argue that the redesigns on the original end bosses is significantly better overall.

I think that would be a pretty big waste. Unless you really like military shooters, you could probably grab three other AAA FPS games for the same price during this sale and have more fun with them.

You're probably right. I guess it's just that for whatever reason, this year seems pretty short on decent FPSes. Besides Wolfenstein, I can't think of any meaty FPS campaigns. Ah well, too bad Ghosts, apparently you're just a little too shitty.

Stick of Truth is amazing. I've played maybe 30 minutes and this is already one of the best games I've played this year.

I'm a big SP fan though.

I hope something neat pops up tomorrow. I have an essay to write though so I'm not grabbing many games this sale :(

Winter, though!

I hope so too. This sale has been a snoozer. We are usually on OT3 by now but this thread barely moves. I guess this is just the appetizer for the big Winter sale.

Witcher 2 is dirt cheap so I was thinking about that, but I have a 5770 and looks like it'd be barely playable with that card.

I know it's old, but how is Total War: Shogun 2? I see they finally ported that to OS X.

Might pick up Endless Legends, though the UI looks rather cramped. Dungeon of the Endless also looks interesting, though I kind of prefer turn-based roguelikes to the rush'n'pause FTL type of gameplay. I'm not sure why that studio isn't getting more attention on GAF...if nothing else, they're making some rather bold game design choices.

A big part of that is because the general Steam thread was recently moved to Community and therefore, unlike past years, wasn't closed in favour of this thread.

I have been playing TW Shogun 2 pretty fine on a laptop with a 840m, I just have to turn some effects down if I play so that I won't lag during the massive battles. Considering some macbooks have a 750m, you can probably play it fine.

I wonder if South Park is ever gonna drop any lower... tempted to bite and grab it while it's sub $20

It'll be cheaper eventually. Hard to say when since the game took eight months to get this point -- you could be waiting another eight for 75% off.

Hmmmm, I think I'm gonna wait for it to hit around $10. I have Transistor and a few 3ds and PS4 games to play so I'll play those beforehand.

That and the lack of flash sales and community vote, those assured that there was a continuous interest in the sales through the entire day by renewing the sales each 8 hours.

Yeah, there's a distinctly smaller amount of "This sale sucks" posts. ;)

Firstly - shogun 2 is not that old! Graphically it is probably not much worse than Rome 2.

Secondly - it is a great game. Arguably the best game since medieval 2. Rome 2 got too complex and just isn't as fun. Playing on one island seems to help the ai remain a challenge, I had a lot of life or death battles. The politics seems to work well also, I have had allies betray me at the worst moment, when they could see I was being aggressive and was overstretched.

I got Endless Legend yesterday so have not played much, however if you enjoy civilization and want to see a new spin on that sort of game then get it. The UI is not as intuitive as Civilization, but it should not be hard to get into.

Like I said, I haven't played much, but the game manages to be really atmospheric, and each of the eight races has its own main quest and playstyle. The race I'm using now can actually move its cities around the map since they are built on giant beetles.

Regarding Endless Legend, I picked that up yesterday and played for about 2 hours. I had the same impression of the UI from screenshots but playkng it it's actually really clean and orderly. Have you played Endless Space? It's very similar. There's also an option to zoom in the UI, it takes up too much space that way on my rather old LCD at 1080p but if you've got a bigger screen it's worth a try.
