The movie isnt separate from the tv show, its just episodes cut into a film.I think you're either missing the Clone Wars tv show or the Clone Wars movie. Can't tell which one that's a poster for.
The canon is the original trilogy and whatever new materials Disney authorizes. The prequels and clone wars are just there and I guess are B canon.
On April 25, 2014, Lucasfilm and Disney revised the franchise's canon. They announced that the existing six films and The Clone Wars television series are the "immovable objects" of Star Wars storytelling.
The canon is the original trilogy and whatever new materials Disney authorizes. The prequels and clone wars are just there and I guess are B canon. Gary Whitta who is writing the next one has already made it clear that the prequels are barely above fan fiction and in the past JJ has said the prequels are "ancient history" and have nothing to do with what comes next. Dropping the episode numbers from the title and marketing should make it very clear to any doubters left on what direction lucasfilm has (wisely) decided to go in.
All right, I know I said the ball bot made sense to me yesterday, but after thinking about it some more and seeing the rolling gif...I just don't understand how it could roll like that unless it's just some perfect magnetism or something.
Oh, Jesus. You're just going to have to face it: The prequels and Clone Wars are canon. "B Canon". Holy shit.

I wonder how the force will be portrayed in the new ones. Maybe a freaking super sonic bang when someone pushes something. What is this then? Constipation after a bad galactic burrito?

This is bullshit Right? The canon is the original trilogy and whatever new materials Disney authorizes. The prequels and clone wars are just there and I guess are B canon. Pure conjecture passed on as fact based on comments unrelated to the production of the film series once both joined it. NeoGAF at its finest.
I thought he was just making a crack at me, like you did earlier, but now I'm not so sure.
I really just want to know how pod racer pods and engines hover.

This is bullshit Right?
JJ was interviewed by Howard Stern after he was assigned to the production where he made the comments about ignoring the prequels. This came after stern went on a rant about how terrible the prequels were.
Yes, it's bullshit. The episode number will appear in the opening scroll, it just won't be used in the marketing for the film.
Gambit1138 pretty much doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about at any given moment, is all.
Can't believe we're actually discussing whether the first 3 episodes are canon or not.
The story points happened. We can argue about the way it was presented and how it came across, but the movies happened and the story points happened.
I don't like the prequel trilogy overall, but I don't mind their stories from a general plot points perspective. The dialogue and the way everything was acted, shot, and edited are what I had issues with. And metaclorians. Fuck them.
What the fuck? That's pretty hostile especially when everything I've said is almost entirely true.
I wonder how many of the 5000+ posts in this thread are discussing the cross sabre?

1500 posts of "THAT WAS AWESOME"
750 posts of "Fuck the prequels"
50 posts of "The prequels weren't that bad"
650 posts about the droid
50 posts about diversity in Hollywood
2000 posts about the lightsaber
Yup that's how I feel as well. I thought the larger story arc, even the trade federation BS, was quite interesting. It was the execution and how the story was told that was terribly flawed.

Anyway this conversation is too premature. Let's talk once both "episode 7" and whitta's films are out
http://www.starwars.com/news/the-legendary-star-wars-expanded-universe-turns-a-new-pageThis includes the six Star Wars episodes, and the many hours of content he developed and produced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. These stories are the immovable objects of Star Wars history, the characters and events to which all other tales must align.
No, it's not really hostile, and no, almost nothing you've said is true.
The JJ quote is misconstrued at best, like I already pointed out.
Whitta's personal opinion of the quality of the prequels doesn't override their canonicity, either.
You just fabricated an entire level of canon out of thin air despite having the actual facts directly linked.
You then tried to suggest the episode number was removed from the movie (despite the fact it's not removed) as support for your completely made-up theory regarding something called "B Canon."
That plus your really weird comments regarding diversity in this movie from previously in the thread make you someone not worth taking all that seriously because you don't think about the things you say before you say them.
That's not hostile.
However you will remember that initially Disney was calling it episode VII and even had a temp logo and that has now changed.
I never said the episode number was removed from the movie. It will obviously be in the title scroll but that will most likely be it. However you will remember that initially Disney was calling it episode VII and even had a temp logo and that has now changed.

Clone Wars straight sucked.
I don't know why anyone would oppose The Clone Wars as canon. It is the best Star wars since the original trilogy. Sure it started off rocky but it gets amazing. We will never see anything of that caliber again either animation wise because it was Georges pet project. It was practically his way of fixing a lot of issues in the prequels. He poured millions into even while it was losing money.
Why do you think Disney was so fast to kill it off even though they had 2-3 more seasons planned. It was wildly expensive and Disney was not going to foot the bill like George was.
Midichlorians probably won't be mentioned in the new trilogy, unfortunately.
And not because the writers of the movies hate the prequels and don't consider them canon, but because everyone in the universe that knew about them is dead.
None of that changes The Clone Wars is an immovable object in Star Wars canon. A piece that is considered EQUAL with the likes of The Empire Strikes Back within the canon. Your statement about a b-tier canon was completely incorrect. The stuff with Mortis and the zillio beast was weird. Also it recycled too much from the OT making it seem like the whole universe just keeps going in circles. Imo brining maul back wasn't a good idea either.
However the Obi Wan arc was top notch especially the final mandalore story in season 5
Why is it unfortunate

Because I'd love for that not to be ignored just because people thought it was dumb.
See this is the kind of respectable attitude I enjoy seeing. It's a shame that those flaws exist but I rarely see people who don't like the prequels this... easy going, I guess. It'd be my pleasure to talk all day about SW with people who carry this attitude about the prequels. I don't care if people dislike them but there's a way to have intellectual, mature conversations while being respectful.
It might not. Depending on who this figure in black is, it's possible some of that old shit could be brought back up. I don't think little prequel references are out of bounds at all. I mean, there's old podracers in the background of the balldroid shot from the teaser.
Some of the edits are so so stupid I can't not laugh when I see them. The scene where the Sand People are about to take Luke at the start of A New Hope and R2D2 is hiding behind some rocks. In the special edition they added more rock to hide him more.
