This will never happen because past developers/whoever owns the IP would have to code for trophy support and I doubt that's something they would spend time on considering they'd get nothing much in return money-wise.

Based on the patents, the original games would not have to be altered at all. It would be done by analyzing read patterns of the disc or the game files.

-Jak 1 artstyle/universe
-Jak 2 platforming
-Jak 3 story

I can maybe get behind point one and two but I don't think Crash needs to be that involved storywise really.

Wow this thread moving so fast. I remember it was just 30-40 pages weeks ago lol.
Damn this thread made me feel so nostalgic for Crash, I'm replaying right now.

True, but like Jak 1 Crash had some really cool characters, but almost no backstory to them....it doesnt need to be an epic like Jak 2 and 3, but characters that talk and are involved in the story would be nice

Crash waiting for SCEA to acquire and save him.

Yeah, the games were never actually noteworthy or good. A sad piggyback on 3D Mario popularity. Sure, it might be nice to fill that gap in the PS4 lineup, but it won't sell a lot. It isn't a franchise with value outside of nostalgia.

Crash and Mario 64 came out the same year, and Crash doesn't even play similar to Mario 64 in any way. Have you even played the games?

Lulzwut? Maybe Crash Bandicoots weren't "revolutionary" like Super Mario 64, but especially 2 & 3 are extremely tight & well made platformers. They are maybe more like 2d platformers in 3d in how straightforward the advancement through the levels is, but that's not a bad thing.

they were way too easy though. if they were to bring crash back, i'd want at the very least different difficulties

I'll say it again

If Sony ever gave me an Ape Escape RPG (with its action adventure platforming) + open world parts and 100+ hours of content all wrapped up with a tournament versus mode akin to Pumped and Primed

I will never need another game again

but sadly this is impossible so I will just be hyped for other things

I can understand someone claiming CTR was a
superior
piggyback to Mario Kart, but not the main series. Finding a game that plays similar to the first three is kinda rare.

“It was weird,” Pangilinan recalled. “We were funded by Universal. We were at the Universal lot. But you always had this feeling that Universal didn’t know what the hell to do with us. They were a movie studio. It just felt like they were passing the discs to Sony. Sony was the publisher. It was a weird relationship where we were Naughty Dog, but then who’s this Universal guy? The partner we really wanted to be with was Sony.”

Sony never HAD Spyro and Crash to have the opportunity to keep them. They were technically the properties of Universal Interactive Studios, which became Vivendi Games when Vivendi acquired Universal Studios. Vivendi Games was then acquired by Activision. This is why Activision currently has both Spyro and Crash. Mark Cerny was the President of Universal Interactive Studios when their contract with Sony ended in the late 90's/00's. He decided to follow Naughty Dog (who as fully acquired by Sony) and continue working with Sony. What a great decision that ended up being for both Sony and Cerny.
bingo

IF they made a new Crash, how would you like it to be made? Use the graphical abilities to their fullest, or make a unique art style (a la Rayman Origins)? As much as people like the original Crash design, I don't think it'll translate well onto PS4 unless they go the unique art style route.

I'm trying to figure out if I'd rather a traditional crash platforming game or a new CTR

Well, I am glad to be corrected on that point. I suppose they are just mediocre and forgettable on their own. Yes, I played through portions of the first title. It wasnt enjoyable enough to finish.

Eh. To each their own. Imo the Crash gams are probably the best 3-D platformers of all time other than Galaxy. And considering everyone that wants them back so much they're clearly not forgettable.
