Yeah, GREAT Nintendo! Now.. maybe in another 10 years you'll give us the option to play against random people by partying up with friends online and searching in these playlists...........

You know, the same kinds of features present in competing platforms from over 10 years ago.
 
Got the game today, can't play the game online. I have faced the same issue with Mario Kart 8, sometimes I can play one race then a connection error is displayed. I have no problem playing Monster Hunter 3 online or Bayonetta 2's co-op, I only have issues playing Nintendo's first party games online. Does anybody face the same issue? I have configured the router's DMZ, but it didn't solve the connection issues.
 
Yeah I noticed some of your mistakes, but I made a lot more hahaha. I really need to practice my movements and using this Classic Pro controller more.

Good games! Your Shulk is as scary as ever : p. Felt like I missed by an inch so many times with some of the normal attacks I was throwing out with WFT. I probably shouldn't throw out the explosive deep breathings near you too often since you kept punishing that lol. > . <
 
Good games, Beats as usual. Sorry about the lag in some of the earlier matches. Fun matches regardless; especially the Shulk vs WFT ones.

Gotta look into better Kirby customs; the set I use right now is kinda bad. >:
 
I was wondering something, am I the only one getting mini freeze in "all-star" battle events (beat 8 characters), it's starting to worry me.
Also I need a quick restart for the event mode in general >.<
Edit : looked a bit and I'm not alone, phew.
Apparently it's not the only bug about those battles.

It's no problem! Try the Up-B one I was using. You can get more followups with it and it sort of acts as a reversal upclose, but it can leave you pretty vulnerable if you miss. I think the Jump Inhale and that one are pretty good.
 
Okay quick question about the "beat classic above 5.5 with a customized Wario" milestone. I did it once with custom equipment only and once with two custom moves added, both times at 7, but it wouldn't unlock. What am I doing wrong here? Do all moves have to be customized?

I think it said, beat classic above 5.5 with Wario without any customization because I already got that and I haven't make any customized Wario yet.

Welp at least in the german version it says customized (well "personalized" to be exact), I just checked. I'll try tomorrow with regular Wario. Nice translation if it works :D

I'm shocked if they made translation error with that because it's extremely rare for Nintendo games to have translation errors, right?

Competing platforms were not built around an immutable family-friendly policy. Nintendo is Nintendo.

Yeah usually they're great, Nintendo games actually are the only games I play in german.

This is so wrong it physically hurts.

Charizard has been buffed considerably. He could be nerfed to death and still be better Than Brawlizard due to Flare Blitz.
 
Flare Blitz is so fucking annoying. If you're at high percents you can spam it since the damage doesn't matter anymore and it has so much knockback.
 
So my copy finally arrived yesterday and I was disappointed to find out that there's no good way of setting up custom sets on the fly like there is on the 3DS version. So I'll probably never be able to use them with friends.

It's such a good concept, but every stage of their implementation is a complete failure

What is the limit on saved sets per character?

it's lower than 81, isn't it

This is a sort of thing we could actually petition Nintendo about. A minimal effort feature that won't hurt anybody if properly implemented.

I think, drop-rates aside, that the two main things holding the system back are:

- The inability to seperate equipment and custom special moves, as lots of people want to use the latter but not the former and it renders "random loadout" pointless
- The inability to change the specials in a set from the character select screen

But yeah it's definitely something I could see changed if Nintendo was aware of the problem

Not really. Most other fighting games online have been fairly limited to the modes you can play on.
 
are there any videos (or documents) that cover intermediate to advanced strategy? coming from street fighter to this has been a bit of a chore.

Melee Advanced How to Play (this covers a WIDE RANGE of tech in Melee, from stuff that is still in Smash 4 to stuff that is not -- you should be able to identify what isn't in Smash 4 but if you need help just ask).

If you were looking for a more handwritten guide well... that's not likely to be around at this point. If you want specific advice, I'd suggest going to smashboards or you could try asking folks here on what you want to learn or need to learn still. We can't help you if you don't tell us anything specific.

I also recommend anyone watch those videos as well that is wanting to get somewhere skill-wise. You might expand your knowledge and learn something new, you never know.

Should just be able to pick the custom moves at the character selection Marvel vs Capcom style. Press Y or something if you want to tweak, regular A for the normal set. Done.
