I...think I'm going to start up Dragon Age finally.
I'm totally new to MMOs. I had no idea that game companies make games worse in order to make up for lack of content. That's my bad I guess.
What's even more odd is the people defending bungie telling others what's not hard or a problem lol.
It might as well be. "Reset your progress or keep your useless weapon."
Wonderful!
Not sure if there's a newer post, but DeeJ's Twitter says that Game Informer's description is accurate and people are reacting "wrong."
:/
You get it, other people don't seem to. If you didn't have to reset anything, people would be maxed out the day the expansion drops and complaining where the content was. It's thin enough as it is, the grind is there to give you something to do.
Not a problem for you. Gamers are not monolithic. Your preference is yours. What you like doesn't fit everyone else. If it wasn't a problem people wouldn't be upset.Because it's not a problem. I like the game and I want to play it more. My friends like the game and want to play it more. I did not expect my old exotics to be usable in the next expansion and so I'm happy that I can use them. I am confused as to why other people are angry at a meager investment to make old exotics usable all the way to level 32.

you have to trade them in and purchase the new version with 7000 Glimmer and an Exotic Shard (which must be purchased with strange coins.)
The weapon's progress will then reset.
The ONLY thing that sucks about this is people with unleveled exotics. Their grind just got longer to hit max from what it sounds like.
Level up > reforge > level up.
I'm doubting unleveled exotics and be reforged off the bat, although if Bungie wants to be nice that could be a place to start.

Why not just make a maxed exotic weapon a requirement for the turn-in and create the new stat cap based on that? You'd still get togrind[/grind] play more and it doesn't feel as terrible sounding.
Why did bungie make stronger weapons anyway? only raising the player level by 2 is already sort of minor and as long as you are on equal footing with mobs at the same level it's fine.
Just seems like a higher weapon level was added just because they could.
you don't need a maxed exotic to upgrade it
Deej was right about one thing. There is a lot of misinformed people.
In addition to Crucible or Vanguard Marks, purchasing new Legendary items will require a Crucible or Vanguard Commendation
Commendations are received in Reputation Reward Packages delivered by the Postmaster upon reaching a new Reputation Level
Keep in mind that your currently leveled exotics can still, you know, help you with all the content that is already out there and that you don't need to purchase the DLC for. They haven't suddenly become useless.
What's particularly baffling is how good most of the changes are. Right up until the exotic reset, which really does feel like a blatant way to force more grinding on players, rather than building replayability through other means.
I have no exotics, so it doesn't affect me personally. But the Destiny thread is filled with players talking about their exotic progress for the past month. What weapons they got, how far they were leveled, how long it took, how great it was to max one. Then Bungie nukes it. Were I in that situation, it would be really off-putting.
Very bad form, Bungie.

yep, the people with unleveled exotics are the winners in this situation.
The perks bruh, the perksI just read that the new weapon's base attack will be higher than a maxed out old weapon, so it's not like you are starting out with a less powerful gun. It will actually be slightly more powerful. Again, the outrage here is just silly and overreacting.
And? You then have to level it up all over again.a newly upgraded weapon starts at 302
Well that is bullshit. I was thinking of hopping on again (I downloaded half the patch but then had to stop because I wanted to play smash online and I havne't gone back to finish the download). I was excited to try out the improved Bad Juju and other exotics I had but it feels a little bullshit having to trade them in to get the patched versions. Like, why are there two versions of them? The patch was supposed to, you know, patch the exotics to make them feel more unique and fun but instead it adds another layer of grind to those that have already grinded out a few exotics. I was thinking at worst the upgrades would reset if you didn't do it all the way or something.
Normally when a patch is introduced to rebalance existing weapons it applies to the ones you already have. When they tried nerfing weapons it wasn't a nerf to all new ones after the patch, it was to all existing ones. This just seems like a way to try and get extra playtime from those that already played enough to get a few exotics and (maybe) upgrade them.
Pro tip : all weapons have the same dmg cap from any extension past lvl 20 Only apply multiplier dmg between your level and your target level.
No need for tiers and out of date weapons or stuff like that.
But nooooooooo they had to pull a stupid trick out of their asses
Yes, it's good that we can take our favorite exotics and keep them relevant. It's the process to do so that is pretty much shit.
Normally gear resets happen once every 2 years or so, not after 3 months.
Normally a gear reset offers upgrades to all items - we know the dark below only has a few new weapons, so the option is either upgrade or don't have any weapon options at max level. Bungie aren't doing us a favour here, they *have* to do this to cover the lack of content.
Oh, and normally upgrading wouldn't be determined by a random selection of gear options on Xur! I think that's one of the craziest bits about this - xur will only have a selection of exotics to upgrade every week, so if it's not on the list you are screwed. Betting Gallahorn and Icebreaker aren't on the list for a long time?
Seriously, more and more these design choices seem to be about papering over a shockingly tiny amount of content with extra grind and forced repetition. The latest patch actually improved things on that front, but these details seem to be a giant step backwards.
(The lack of options around Legendaries is also stupid - it means we will have far fewer weapons at max level than we currently do).
It's like the expansion is gonna be so short on content that they need you to spend more time upgrading weapons you already wasted time grinding to get.
Well at least it saved me from making any effort to finish up 2 exotic bounties that have been clogging my inventory for the last 2 months.
Except it doesn't make it worst. I think this complaining about exotic upgrades is overblown since this is a fair way to upgrade a weapon. The legendary changes is something that deserves the outrage since it requires way more grind but the exotics really don't for the damage upgrade.I'm totally new to MMOs.
