Gematsu: Sony to hold Playstation Experience event in December

To stoke the flames a bit, I went and checked up on the Last Guardian trademark. Sony filed a request (their third, actually) for an extension on the requirement to show usage of the trademark. It was a six month request, and was filed in July. So they have to either show that it's being used in commerce in the next three-ish weeks (which would be difficult, unless it's done and ready to go out), or they need to file another request for extension in January. Anyone wanna guess which one happens? :V

I've been saying over and over, I think it's a distinct possibility that Sony are trying to make something Shenmue-related happen, most realistically a HD Collection, which if successful can lead on to other things. I know I'm going to sound like a broken record using this example, but whatever. Truth is, without Sony's influence, Double Fine would've never been able to convince Disney to give Grim Fandango the remastered treatment. But Sony came along, they smoothed things over with Disney, they made it a reality, and now we have the HD version of one of the greatest games ever made coming out early next year.

Lately, we've seen Sony linked to Shenmue many times in some way or form. Cerny and Yoshida pictured with Suzuki on more than one occasion, Cerny introducing Suzuki at the GDC Shenmue postmortem and also serving as his translator, Scott Rhode making reference to it recently on Twitter, Sony acknowledging that out of the compiled list of games most requested by gamers to appear on the Playstation platforms, Shenmue came out on top, and also that whole #SaveShenmue Twitter campaign that was appealed directly to Sony and retweeted by them.

I'm not saying it's definitely going to happen. I just think it's not outside the realm of possibility. Suzuki and a couple of the folks at Sony do seem awfully chummy these days.

Means were gonna get EA Access on PS4 for plus subscribers.!!! What happens when he fights with Sony and breaksup with them? Hes gonna have to either get it removed or get it covered.

What contributes showing it's being used? Surely Shu saying 'yeah, we're making it' is enough?

Seriously, this is my hope for TLG, one last troll. You finish the show, lights up, people start leaving, then the lights drop, the screen comes back on, the Star Trek (I think it's Star Trek) gif about the game not being at E32074 or whatever plays, then it fades away to black, then you see some feathers falling, and that super thick black chain rattling, slowly pitching down to the well, then black, and just 'E3'.

Fuck, I'd die.

I had a thought that maybe I was too hard on it back when I first played it so me and my friend picked it up on PC for a weekend of IPA fueled gaming. Even with the mighty Pliny as my medic that game sucked so bad.

This seems likely. I can't really see any exclusive game or content deals in the pipe from EA given how tight they are with MS. The only other major thing they could do is announce an iteration of TitanFall, but people seem to be displeased with such a notion.

yes!!. my hype for the order is starting to rise again. had dipped a bit due to neg impressions but with talk about the new demo and the graphics is starting to go up up up!!!! hypeeee

Well, I think a public showing is necessary, and then it actually has to be sold in some form in an eventuality. There are two trademarks for TLG. The original, filed around the announcement before its original intended release window, which was then abandoned, and then a second TLG trademark, which was filed in 2012, which is the current one, with the extensions.

I'm pretty sure EA's annoncement will be something Hardline related. Some exclusive content or smething like that. I doubt they have anything big to announce at PSX.

I'm with all of you on a Dragoon sequel, although I'm a bit scared imagining all the things that could go wrong with it being made in this era. I loved the first one to bits, still have my original copy.

Not much longer until the event and either the hype pays off or it disappoints us all, though.

Yeah, it'll probably be something incredibly dull like a Hardline PS4 public beta live straight after the announcement. Yawn.

It means that Titanfall 2 could be a PS4 exclusive if Sony had the cash. It also means Titanfall 2 could be on all current gen platforms.
