Gonna miss PotD :'(

Thanks Samurai for delivering a dream game. the PotD were mostly awesome :)

What a great ride SmashGAF! Now to wait for Mewtwo, lets go!!!

Wow, I never realized how useful amiibo are for farming, well... everything until I just started putting them to work farming CDs for me.

I've got Paisano (Mario), Denver (Yoshi), My Boy! (Link), Kirbz (Kirby), and SpaceFurry (Fox) doing repeated 99-Stock matches with Master Balls set to high (for Mew, who drops CDs), and it's great. After one match they had gotten me:

- 9 CDs
- Around 7,000 Gold
- 4 Mii Fighter hats
- Around 10 custom specials
- A bunch of equipment

I'm probably nabbing a Pikachu amiibo tomorrow too, so I'll put it to work right quick as well. :3

Yep, I'll be doing this quite a bit to farm stuff easily when I'm doing work/other stuff. Really glad there's a fairly reliable way to farm CDs that doesn't involve Crazy Orders...

It would be amazing if Amiibo would get their own character-specific moveset rewards which would make farming easier but it's just random.

I preferred 3DS over Wii U for farming custom movesets since Smash Run and Classic 3DS are character-specific custom moveset rewards along with low chance of random characters.

Classic Wii U don't. I'm still looking for better way to get those custom moves.

Can you find a better way for hats too?

Just got this game today, but I'm having a problem connecting to friends on WiiU. It keeps giving me error code 018-0515. I never have any problems with PS3 or PS4 connections but my WiiU is giving me problems.

Google the error code. You may need to open the ports on your router / add Wii U to the DMZ feature.

Some have also said that it happens because the IP Address the Wii U is using is already in use by something else.

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/results.jsp?error_code=018-0516&system=3DS&locale=lang

Give those links a try and google "018-0515" and you'll get all kinds of responses of people who are also having that problem.

I haven't fully concentrate on the hats yet but I noticed that I got a lot of hats from Crazy Order for now. Here is the advice if you are doing Crazy Orders; you need to click any tickets that had Smash Bros Logo on it because it is more likely to give you hats, outfits and equipments.

I'm pretty sure that Crazy Orders is only best way to get CDS. I'm done with getting all CDS in the wild.

Denver (Yoshi)... hahahahahaha. The song, both english and french versions, came to my head.

Can anyone guide me to a tutorial or something for this game? It's the first smash brothers I've played, and I have no idea whats going on. For example:

1. What are the percentages

2. Having trouble landing attacks. Seems like half the time I'm punching to the wrong side or just hitting air.

Japanese tier list, what do you think ?
Falco and Robin ain't that low...

Also why is Dr. Mario so far down compared to Mario? Aren't they pretty much the same thing; does the fireball really make that big of a difference or is there a different reason? Same for Dark Pit and Pit.
Recovery, speed, (FLUDD? lol) etc.

Just added now. But as I was saying earlier in FGW, I really don't think Link is as good as he was. Even in Brawl. Link is incredibly sluggish, but I'm willing to still play him. But I know he isn't what he used to be.
Whuh? Link was garbage in Brawl. There was nowhere for him to go but up.

That's the thing, I don't like his Dash Attack. I hate how he leaps in the because it has such a long startup and is easy to avoid. It makes for (slightly) good air combo follow up but that's it. I prefer the old Dash attack where it was a quick running swipe. His Smash attacks feel the same yeah. But that doesn't mean he got better. They're just as good/bad as they've always been.
His Boomerang zoning took a huge nerf with how slow the startup is. That is my biggest problem. I rely on the Boomerang all the time.
All you're saying is you rely on his worst nerf and haven't yet gotten the hang of one of his best buffs. The new dash attack is excellent for edge-guarding. But the idea of the gale boomerang has always been terrible for a zoning character. A projectile that brings enemies into the range where Link isn't as good? Wtf

Check out the how to play video that plays if you leave the console on the main menu for a few minutes (It's one of the 3 things that might play)

The higher the percentage, the further attacks send you fying.

For missing punches, well, I find the controls in this game to sensitive, but you can try to use the right stick to make some attacks. Your character will do a smash attack or an air attack in the direction you press the stick. Maybe that would help. Most characters have the neutral air attak as a multidirectional attack.

Correct answer. I know Smash guys love their octagon gate... but the Pro Controller is really the correct choice.

Another question: Is this game "safe" to play online? I know there were crashes and lock-ups going on. Did they release a patch for that?

It is not realated to the game but to the OS. People had data corruption on thier hard drives.

No crashes, no lockups at all. Lag in one on one is basically non existant but 4 vs 4 can be bad about 20% of the time. It only takes 1 person to have a bad connection to cause lag in the match.

Finally got my GF to like this game.

She immediately dismissed it on the first go-around, saying it was too chaotic and the character (Samus) was too difficult. She never wanted to play the game again. I was discouraged because I was convinced that Smash would be the perfect gateway game for a budding gamer like her.

So I tried once more last night. I lowered the availability of items and chose Omega-style stages. Since she likes to kickbox, I encouraged her to not select Samus and to go with Little Mac, a far simpler character to handle. She didn't like this at first (I guess she wanted to play a female character), but when I told her Little Mac was from Mike Tyson's punchout, she complied.

2 hours later, she's loving the game. Her biggest problem was controlling and timing her jumps so she wasn't falling needlessly all the time. I'm glad, because now I feel like I have someone to play this game with and that I didn't waste my money. lol

Can anyone recommend other easy characters for a newb?

Ok, now that I have an amiibo (Samus) I can finally play this. She's not Fox, but the only thing that she'll ever see until level 50 is Final Destination, no items, against me.

Can't CPUs do that?

Has this been discussed already?

My Smash Wii U online experience has been great so far, if only laggy when other users have shitty connections, for obvious reasons. But the other day I wanted to play with friends, and it was me who was creating the match. However, even if I created it without problems, the "now recruiting!" yellow button never showed for two different friends, different times. They just found me "online".

When they created, however, I could see the "now recruiting!" button.

Did this happen to anyone else? Should I tweak some router stuff?

Thanks :)

To this day my son still cant host an online game with friends on his 3DS, I can just fine and my other kid can as well, so I doubt it has anything to do with your router.... actually I have no idea what I'm talking about lol.

Not sure if this has been replied to or not, but in both the 3DS and Wii U, there's an option in your friends list (when you select yourself, I believe) that asks if you want to allow others to see when you're online. If I recall correctly, that's what's causing your issue.

A friend and I had it happen on 3DS, and that was the fix. You may have mindlessly selected that option at some point. :)

My girl liked the game at first and plays as Samus too, but I recently annoyed her so much using King DeeDeeDee and Duck Hunt Dog, she raged quit indefinitely.

I got my GF playing Kirby. Simple recovery.

I'll TAKE IT!!!
THANKS!!!
No prob Kizzle

Is there an ETA on the Tournies update? I'll probably start playing online
and suck horribly because I'm not really playing Smash 4 at all
once that drops.

I'll make sure to try it when I get back home, thanks.

Edit: Son says it worked, and wanted me to let you know that he is happy as hell right now lol.

thanks bro.

I know this was posted at least once in this thread:

Is there any "new player" thing you can reference to in terms of learning how combos work and what is possible with the movement.
I litterally feel like learning too much new stuff by accident (Ganondorfs special can be turned around if you move the stick into that direction right after starting the attack etc.)

Thanks GAF :3

oh oh. I don't know why my eyes decided to skip the word, "coop." My bad, I'm still waiting for my friend to stop by so we can finishing up rest of event matches.

I'm really sorry about misleading! My bad!

Well, beating the final regular event on Hard on the first try is impressive to me, too. I'm still having trouble with that one.

Hey good idea! I'm doing it right now with my 3 amiibos, Kongy Donk, Peachipie, and Mare E O. What a great way to get through life and be productive in your Smash output!

Edit: I hear Mew so I just look over and watch him drop a CD only for all the Amiibos to pass it up... Good job Maverick... ;)

Edit again! Happened twice! CD's disappear so quick!
