Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

So, Ono stated that Capcom didn't have the resources or budget for SFV. Yet, there's a trailer out for it now. So, if they "didn't have a budget for SFV", I wonder what else they "don't have a budget for".

They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.

Sony should have left well enough alone and now they're going to get it. It's not enough that they're bleeding benjamins from practically every crevice of their existence. Now they go and throw immense moneyhats at a niche game like Street Fighter just to piss off the market. Why pay to keep a game out of the hands of as many gamers as possible? Why not put that money into first-party studios and games instead?

I know, I know... this is the way the business goes as they say. Well, they forced Microsoft's hands with their early sales lead and Microsoft only responded with an NPD whooping (source: musings thread) by way of incredible deals and value. Microsoft will undoubtedly follow this announcement up with some real megatons of their own.

Gears remake collection. A true Banjo sequel. Halo 5 beta in the hands of gamers. The next Bayonetta, Dead Space and Crysis as exclusives. Those are the kinds of blockbuster response announcements I expect, and then some. You hit Microsoft with a jab, you best be ready for a flurry of uppercuts coming at you in response.

Excellent post. I think Microsoft will do in the videogame market what they did in the tablet space; outspend everyone. It worked so well for them in that area so it makes sense that they would do it in the console space.

Thank you so much for this.

]Does it matter if it's the same people?[/B] We can all pretty safely say that the buzz around SFV is much less toxic than it was for Tomb Raider. You can't deny that. Look at this. Look at Bloodborne. Look at FF13, DMC4 and Tekken 6. At this point it's utterly obvious that a large portion of the Sony fanbase consists of over-emotional hypocrites.

And guys, we're talking about STREET FIGHTER FUCKING FIVE here. You can't possibly believe that this game wouldn't have gotten made without Sony's involvement. Again, same thing with Tomb Raider.

LOL of course it does because if it is not how is anyone a hypocrite like you came into this thread and called people? I am not arguing if this practice is good or bad, just you coming in and calling people hypocrites.

All fanbases have the same types of posters, please, you are now taking shots at an entire fanbase....Many of which were xbox gamers last gen. You are making gross generalizations.

What a great morning. This weekend is going to kill the servers.

Dead Rising 4 is a PS4 exclusive, isn't it?

They didn't have the budget until Sony gave them more money to make it.

Also Ono's words should always be taken with a grain of salt.

People wanting to make the claim the tone is hypocritical regarding the reaction in this thread versus the MS tomb raider deal need to realize there is a difference.

This one is a brand new game announcement with the exclusive known at the same time. So of course it'll be more positive. People are happy a SFV exists and is coming out.

If the exclusive news came out a couple months after this trailer then I would expect the news and reaction in that thread would be more like the TR one

That trailer has me pumped to go and play street fighter. Woooo

MS started this game buying 3rd parity exclusives and it looks like it just burned them, no way sony would of done this if tomb raider titanfall ect didn't happen first

MS didn't start it at all. It has been going on since before Xbox was even a brand.

Playstation 4 is doing better in worldwide sales and was pretty much going to be seen as the console for fighters regardless of this Street Fighter deal (which obviously helped this deal out even more). Every gen has had these types of deals. It's nothing new.

Based on the fighting game genre being more niche than other genres + Capcom's situation and remake trend, I would assume that there will be a version of Street Fighter V on the Xbox eventually. We'll see what happens though.

+1

Don't forget Dead Rising as well. It is what it is. This is what happens when u open those floodgates.

Oh my

This is setting a really bad precedent. I expect more and more games going exclusive in the future, especially for Xbox. MS has a deep well to draw from and Sony took a huge financial hit with the hack. This is not going to end well in the next 4-5 years

I have a hard time seeing people legitimately comparing this to the whole Tomb Raider fiasco. The main reason that was blown up was Microsoft was giving out misinformation to the press. They declared the game exclusive and when journalists pressed on the issue, like if it was first party, exclusive forever etc., they gave vague answers that only made people even more mad. It took an entire day too clarify. This was a leak so Sony nor Capcom expected to confirm a deal today. Give it time.

Also I know everyone wants to live in a world where everything is on everything but this is business. A console manufacturer makes deals to make their platform more appealing, be it exclusive games, content, functionality etc. You can be upset about a deal but don't act like you don't know why it was made and why deals throughout the start of video games were made.

This is a joke post right lol SF is niche? Haha

Could be a lot of things. Most fighting games tend to sell better on Playstation compared to Xbox for whatever reason, and as of right now the PS4 seems to be the most popular "next-gen" console worldwide. Sony's also likely pitching in money and development assistance, so Capcom may have taken all this information and decided they can forego the development costs and potential profits of an XB1 version without much impact to their bottom line. I believe Arc System Works made a similar decision not too long ago.

I have to say this, & I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but ever since the Original Xbox (or Xbox 360), Microsoft has heavily advertised their consoles as the go-to platforms for shooters & sports titles.

That's the reason why most people refer to Xbox consoles as "Dudebro consoles" or as "Shooter Boxes," even when Sony receives plenty of shooters as well. It doesn't help when most FPS shooters such as "Call of Duty" sell more on Xbox platforms than on Playstation platforms, & while other genres like JRPG's & Fighting Games have always sold less on Xbox platforms in comparison to PS platforms.

Meanwhile, Sony has always been advertising their consoles globally, & have always advertised their consoles to target towards all gamers, & not just for shooters & sports.

Other than that, I agree with your post entirely.

This is setting a really bad precedent. I expect more and more games going exclusive in the future, especially for Xbox. MS has a deep well to draw from and Sony took a huge financial hit with the hack. This is not going to end well in the next 4-5 years

Highly doubt so, especially when MS investors are already breathing down Microsoft's necks to make sure that Xbox One will be very profitable.

Damn, not sure why Microsoft would let this happen. It's Street Fighter, man. I sure hope Microsoft doesn't retaliate by picking up some franchise I happen to hold dear. Sunset Overdrive isn't enough for me to get an Xbox One yet.

SFV should be fun though, will be a lot of fun to Share matches to friends. Better have Sakura!

Well what we can all agree on is that from what we saw, it looked like SF4 on PC.

If not for the moveset no one would have even noticed it was SF5, which is a problem.

I want something more with SF5. I want to get hyped but this was so underwhelming.

The hype is only coming from the fact its a exclusive and not the game it self.

nah to this whole post

People who are street fighter/FG fans are hyped for the game. We can all easily tell its obviously a new game. Its like, no question about it.

Looks like Ultra on PC? lol no way man.

Don't think you can blame them...it is really hard to tell.....Some people say some crazy stuff.

They do but the sarcastic fanboy troll post managing to derail an entire thread has become an epidemic around here lately. Look at how many times that open_mouth joke post has been quoted as a serious post. We've devolved to the point of having wars between imaginary fanboys.

Holy fuck at the double standards in this thread (remember Tomb Raided Xbone exclusivity?)

It's sickening.

Can you show me the conclusive evidence which makes it clear that SFV was going to be made available on both consoles, until Sony stepped in and persuaded them to remove its availability from the Xbone with a hefty check?

Those aren't really megatons though, unless Bayonetta happened or Banjo with full standard platforming

Is it just me or is it rally fucking weird that people rage at the console companies for buying exclusivity instead of at the developers for selling it?

It's like bitching at The Heat for Lebron going to Miami.

Be less dumb.

I haven't seen anyone pull their punches on Capcom. They're a shitty company who possibly need funding because of company-wide mismanagement.
