So far I really like what I saw. i think the game's artstyle is just beautiful,my favorite Zelda artstyle yet. This game will need some sort of photo mode.
There's not too much going on in the overworld right now but this is just a small glimpse and there's still quite a bit of development time left and I personally don't want to run into an enemy or something every 5 secunds, sometimes I just wanna run around and explore. And i'm fairly certain that they will make this huge overworld worth exploring.
I for one enjoyed exploring every single Island in Wind Waker and also had no problems sailing around for a while, as I found that relaxing and it gave me a great feeling of adventure.
Really can't wait to get my hands on this game. 2015 is gonna be amazing.

It's true.

That doesn't explain why this footage was shot off tv, though >_>

Thanks to Ubisoft. The so-called direct-footage/controller pantomime segment really poisoned the "real-time" gameplay waters. Now we have to resort to off-screen so we at least know, by the very least that it is RUNNING in REAL-TIME!

HOW DO PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM NOT KNOW THAT YOU CAN ALREADY GET A WII U FOR 200. BUY A REFURB ONE. THE QUALITY OF REFURBS IS FINE. JEESH.

...REGARDLESS, YOU SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT A WII U FOR BAYONETTA, THE TRUE GOTY.

Sorry, the bigger question should be: HOW CAN PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THIS GAME IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT AND DOES NOT REPRESENT THE FINAL GAME. JEESH ;)

Dat smooth horse running animation

Dat dynamic shadow on the grass and land contours

Dat horse's tail hair physics

Dat sunset

Naysayers are going to be eating their words just like they did about Mario Kart 8.

I really liked the footage, but let's not go overboard here. I think it's best to have cautious optimism than to set yourself up for disappointment.

Trust me, I have adequate levels here. I expect the overworld to be uneven and even sparse, but I like that they're going back to the sense of scale and "journey" that got lost as Zelda lagged behind the west in open worlds.

It was especially evident SS's gamey and dungeon-like overworld. And I like SS. But there was a flow that was lost in making non-dungeons and dungeons basically the same and the world felt very gamey. I need more immersion and breaks from the puzzle formula... and this game can probably deliver that.

I'm not getting my hopes up anymore that.

I really hope this game has a more contemporary Zelda & Ganondorf (more so with a Zelda that looks like she can fight). I really don't want this style to be passed up in the next Smash game for the reuse of the Twilight Princess designs.
I don't hate the TP designs, I just love this art style.

The only thing I'm worried about is the music.

I don't want them to go overboard with the 'ambience' WRPG/MMO approach and just play a few seconds of a song when reaching a new area and then fade to silence.

I want themes to be playing the whole time, or at least give us the option.

We'll get that sort of thing at E3, this isn't nearly as big an event and there's no reason for them to blow their load here.

If your going to show zelda to over 100 000 viewers, you can't half ass it. If it was big enough to show, they should of done at least a proper 30 second to 1 minute trailer with more action than this. It would get people way more hyped than they are now.

Not Skyward Sword, it had a shitty motion controls live demo that failed to work on stage, in front of millions of gamers.

It still got a proper combat trailer which also highlighted like 3 or 4 new items. And the demo at least had combat in it, it wasn't completely hands off like in this case.

You can't really say that this early in because there will obviously be more stuff later on along with the eventual marketing push.

I know but Twilight Princess came right out the gate with a mind-blowing trailer. This game is being unveiled the same boring way skyward was.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Holy shit, I just woke up to this. So un expected and so good. HOLY SHIT.

You are worried about the music in a zelda game?

We go through this with so many games. ALBW, Hyrule Warriors, Splatoon, TW101, Xenoblade X to name a few. And time and time again, the rough parts tend to get fixed and the graphics improved from the early footage.

Lifeless? Like what the fuck are some of you talking about? Because when I go for a walk in a field or the woods I have to dodge animals because you know, they are fucking all over the place.

Obviously the demo was to illustrate the openness of the game. They gave a brief tease of an area populated by enemies. There is much more to come.

Jesus GAF, overreact much?

Did you know Halo invented the FPS?
Still baffled that Nintendo wouldn't give Video Game Awards direct game capture of the video.

I am personally looking forward to this. They didn't show much, but I like the glimpse I was given. My hype meter is not up for now, but it is certainly something that interests me.

So map size? Said 4-5 minutes by horse to map marker, map marker looked to be about a fifth of the map? 20 minutes by horse? Anyone have a more scientific guess?

That was also E3 and not an award show that frankly isn't going to get a whole lot of press. It's still got a good 6 months of development to go, they're only starting to build the hype now.

Loved the discussion format, visuals, slow-motion, basically everything except the vastness of space.

They seem rather prepared and confident though, like having planned this game for many years and maybe they do have a solution to TP's empty feeling areas. Could be various combat challenges and random events that occur, like the boss spawning in the initial trailer. Riding itself could be made fun and varied as opposed to sailing or the sky.

They could at least mitigate travel with a teleport system or the bird from SS (i.e. super fast travel speed) and make locations distinct & memorable, not copy/paste feeling. Like he said, this place looks suspicious, perhaps it's a dungeon? etc. It feels like they have studied open world games carefully and are taking steps to improve the formula.

Everyone knows that. The thing is we can make judgments based on the footage and past games, just like you! Just because the conclusions we've come to are negative doesn't make them any less valid that the conclusions of people that like the footage.

I'm sure everyone that doesn't like the footage would love to be wrong about the game, as I highly doubt anyone wants a game to end up bad.

If this and Xeno X come out within a few months of each other, I don't know what I will do. They are gonna be massive

Nintendo is probably going to save that for E3 over TGA.

Looks like it was mostly a tech demo showing off some basic mechanics, not really a full reveal. We'll get that at E3. Still a lot more than I'd ever expected to see this soon.

That said, it still looks really impressive. It seems to have that free-form open-world feel, but I'm confident a developer like Nintendo will still be able to make it a video game with well-balanced progression. Maybe Link Between Worlds was the start, and this will be a more advanced version of that structure where you do things whenever you want.

For some reason one of the most impressive things to me was seeing the herd of horses at the end.

Really wish we had a trailer or something more high quality than a 720p off screen video...but it looks so good ;_;
Any roughness shown is likely attributed that it's still about a year off from releasing and that will all be (mostly) fixed by then. Love what I saw. The sail cloth turning into the deku leaf is really great, and something I really wanted after revisiting Wind Waker in WWHD. Gyro aiming with the bow on horse back looks great, and I love that the e3 trailer was actually gameplay with Link being able to do everything shown.
It looks very xenoblade-y how you're able to go pretty much everywhere. Really looking forward to this game.
Oh, and Nintendo uploaded the trailer to their channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SECWlFInyFM

Nintendo are masters of gameplay, I doubt they would make a world that large without thinking it through.

I am pretty hopeful it will turn out good. It's good to see them really trying to stretch themselves again now that they have more powerful hardware.

They won't. That was probably the beginning of the game, in which Link never has his real clothes.

I hope you're right, but then they've never revealed a game like this, and in 3D Zelda games you don't usually get out of the main town till you have the tunic, so eh, I don't know I'm worried.

Anyways...
