It felt a little "empty", in a shadow of the colossus way I like. If the dungeons are not, I don't mind exploration.
dont have any that I can think of. Dont think ive played very manyWhat's your favourite adventure game?
If its more action oriented im inIt was always about discovery and puzzle-solving and using minor action to transition between these, but then occasionally with great boss fights.
But whatever it used to be Nintendo has been heavily emphasizing that they're breaking the norm of Zelda with this game.
Nice vid but too many spoilers so I had to stop watching. Will probably finish some of the older ones some timeI like this explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOC3vixnj_0
Ill propably buy this anyway as I love Zelda but wow that open world looks boring and lifeless as hell.
I fell asleep and missed the whole show too lol
I feel bad about tearing into a game's visuals based on off-screen footage, but there's some horrifyingly ugly stuff in the video. Some really bad LOD moments, extremely simplistic geometry, and most notably low quality textures with atrocious blending work. They are really trying to hide some of this stuff with the grass tech and it's not working.
Yeah, that's what I noticed as well. There were some really bad textures there, which is probably the reason they went with offscreen gameplay.I feel bad about tearing into a game's visuals based on off-screen footage, but there's some horrifyingly ugly stuff in the video. Seems like you just don't like the franchise...I mean, if you had said this after only playing WW I'd be like "Yeah, I get where you're coming from.", but TP is far from being a simple game.
As far as I'm concerned the true strength of the Zelda series comes from the harmony between it's fantastic player mechanics, non-disposable item mechanics, and it's puzzle/obstacle course-based level design (Elements that are abundant in TP); if Zelda didn't have those things, it would be a pretty generic fantasy action game.
Also, one can easily find stuff like "discovery" or "adventure" in other video games but the core gameplay elements that I just mentioned are what's unique and engaging about LoZ.
There aren't too many action adventure games that do what Zelda does. A lot of the big mainstream action-adventure titles that we get are way more focused on fighting than climbing/jumping/running or time traveling to solve puzzles; LoZ always feels like a breath of fresh air in this regard.
It is absolutely modeled after Zelda 1's map

I agree with the LOD stuff, but nothing seemed atrocious.
Being completely blunt now, I'll go as far as to say it looked like one of those early-access games on Steam.

that is such a stretch.
Negative Nancy here
1) were they really reacting to a green screen? Wow.
2) bad rock texture, copy and pasted trees, world felt empty, grass could take a cue from Flower.
Otherwise? I'm hyped, but was more hyped by the last trailer. This is too weird, I guess we are supposed to gush over miyamoto but I rather let the music and the trailer do the talking.
You surely must have played an adventure game that you've enjoyed?dont have any that I can think of. Dont think ive played very many
This video goes out of its way to explain that traversal is simplified.Surprised at the people saying it looks empty. This isn't like OoT or TP where you have long fields of nothing but grass. You have tons of trees, bushes, and other landforms to traverse around. Not to mention we already saw quite a few enemies and Epona has some girl horses to play with.
I dont know if these games count as action adventure though. I enjoyed ass creed 2/brotherhood, batman games, latest tomb raider not the older ones, gta etc.You surely must have played an adventure game that you've enjoyed?
With epona? Yeah.. you can always get off and run to the lake and check it out or a mountain, tower or something. This video goes out of its way to explain that traversal is simplified.

The most important aspect of a Zelda overworld is a sense of exploration. I think the moment on top of the cliff (that emulates the 1986 art) absolutely nails that feeling, as does most of what I saw from the horse riding. Packing the world with a bunch of enemies you have to kill every time you pass by would be tedious and annoying. Give me a couple towns, some neat ruins to explore, a few secret caves, interesting NPCs to interact with, and the occasional one-off feature that helps define a certain region (like the wild horses, for instance) and I'm happy. I really don't know what other people are looking for.
Doesn't look like Zelda.
I like that wild horse they ran across; nice touch.
No it does look a bit barren and even uninspired. I assume it just isn't finished yet. There is too little attention to detail that always give the nintendo gams that little extra. I'm sure there will be in the end.Surprised at the people saying it looks empty. This isn't like OoT or TP where you have long fields of nothing but grass. Damn so pretty much confirmed no motion controls. Laaaame.
