Hi! This is Keita and Robin here to share with you this first glimpse of our new project at Funomena. When we told people that we had begun to collaborate on a new game, they were very curious about what it could be. It is called “Wattam”.

The idea for this game came from when Keita was playing with his two-year old son, and wondered about what if all toys lived, and connected by themselves? It would be such a fun world to explore and play with! The word “Wattam” itself is actually composed of the Tamil and Japanese words for “making a circle” or “making a loop”. The initial prototype for this game was made by Keita and his friend Vikram, who are from these two cultures respectively, and this new word acknowledges one of the game’s core inspirations: making connections between different types of things.

But what you’ll see here today is actually about a square-shaped person. It is a sneak peek into the life of the Mayor of the world of Wattam. We hope you enjoy meeting him, and the other characters of Wattam, as we reveal them throughout 2015. Until then, we wish you relaxing holidays and a lovely New Year!

Square seems like a lovely mayor.

This is one of the best mayoral politics square bowler hat bomb terrorism mirror swag simulators I've ever seen--and that's a category with steep competition.

Bring on the gifs because holy shit, a new meme is born. That dude was hilarious. He just didn't give a fuck at all

To be fair it didn't seem like Keita Takahashi knew who Keita Takahashi was.

"I think I'm Japanese" *spins in circles* *plays with fork* *wanders off*

Haha!

Yeah, that dude was great. No idea who he is, but he was awkward as hell. I am genuinely curious as to why he brought that fork out with him.

I have never seen someone be so nervous at a gaming conference. He looked utterly terrified, to the point of sheer distraction. I couldn't even get excited for the game itself.

The "mayor" was a Minecraft creeper right? Keita was basically saying the inspiration was his 2-year-old son's toys playing together, correct?

My teacher always told me to hold a pen in my hands when I was nervous and had to do a presentation. Maybe he's holding the fork so he doesn't move his hands the entire time?

LEGIT HYPE!

I honestly have no idea what this game is. I thought it was some mayor simulator or something, and then I keep on hearing other stuff about this game and now I don't know what it is.

It does have a square mayor with a bomb on his head... I guess?

The forkdude guy was great. He didn't look quite right from the get go, but I lost it when I realized that he's just standing there playing with a black fork. The look in his eyes, the fork in his Japanese hands and the speech that he gave, it all suggested that the dude just doesn't give a fuck. Him just randomly spinning was like a grand finale of his performance and a great culmination to the presentation.

So I dunno, the game looks alright

I guess

Hell yeah! I gave up hope that he'd make another game. Noby Noby Boy is one of the most underrated games around. Did he end up making any playgrounds? I'd love to see pictures. As far as Wattam goes, this teaser is adorable.
