Uncharted 4 Gameplay Demo [Up: Sony - Was running at 30 fps]

After playing tlou I just dont see the point to uc anymore. Its a mediocre franchise in terms of gameplay that relies on quick thrills. Graphics look good but meh overall, give me tlou prequel

One little detail I'm soooo fucking happy about is the strap on the rifle -- finally, no more magnetic spine!

Also the letter he finds on the skeleton reads:

Our navigator we lost to sharks, our grommet (gourmet?) to hunger. Today our Captain, whilst exploring, was struck by a serpent and has presently succumbed to fevered derangement. Any time we tend to his puncture he lashes out. Yet again our journey is misruled by indignity and loss.

Now Hayes and I are quarreling. He regards this place as an island of emptiness, and its treasure a mere tale of oriental hyperbole. But he is vexed with fear. I will pursue this remnant of Captain Avery's fortune alone if I must.

One line in his journal looks like it reads, "Call Elena!" lol

The other stuff in the journal relates to "The Rhode Island Pirate," with dates, flags, some latin, and other stuff.

Better quality gif of that scene:

YESSSSSSS. Best part of the demo.

I'm really surprise to see a playable built in such short time. People who judge the final graphic from this, could really wrong. Tons of details appears rushed for now. Imho it's too early to show something of playable, I don't know if it has been a good idea show it to the public in this 'state'

OR we simply expected the gameplay to be as good as usual but with the graphical leap the E3 reveal indicated? Too much to expect?

It will look just like that in other cutscenes plus it months away .
So yeah it is to much to expect a game that has at least 9 month left to look like that .

Damn trolls everywhere.....thought GAF was stricter on trolling, but damn trolls everywhere. Looked amazing as usual. People saying looks like uncharted...LOL no shit...Halo looks like halo too.

What it is I think is that, other than the character models and the foliage density/interactions, it looks just like an up-res'd Uncharted 2 or 3 environment. That goes for the lighting, texture quality, geometry, and shaders. It doesn't have that "woah" jump in visuals. The game doesn't look bad right now, just like even UC2 and 3 don't look bad now, but I think most people were expecting it to be more impressive.

I just hope it improves a lot by release.

Honestly we see the same issue for God's of previous hardware each gen. Rare, Bungie, Naughty Dog.

You know what? Naughty Dog were not gods. They have great art design. That doesn't scale and I do not see how they lost that design here.

I don't play their games but if you did and this disappointed you then that's the risk of buying for visuals.

It's not that ND did not utilise the hardware. It is that actually they didn't really need it.

That looked awesome. A bit samey compared to previous installments but the level design seems to be more open and if it's "open-world" it's more than enough. The bullet impacts looked amazing. Reasons to buy a PS4 in 2015: +1

They are targetting 60 with a year to go. They probably wanted to show at least a consistent frame rate so they capped it to 30 rather than having it fluctuate all over the place. Unless you are just batshit insane and think they would have a game a year out running at a perfect 60. The graphics look good enough for a game targeting 60 and the different gameplay elements shown have me excited.

It looked considerably better then that......did you see that same video or are over rating how uc2 and 3 looked, everything looked considerably better , lighting, textures, characters, shadows.

Take it up with the modship. Your passive aggressive "I thought GAF was stricter!" act is unnecessary.

Also, people saying negative things is not trolling.

For Uncharted 3 we got reveal at VGA's and then a long gameplay demo in June at E3, right?

Pretty sure there will be at least a small improvement of graphics for E3. People wanted gameplay, people got gameplay.

I really hope these UC4 threads don't start becoming like the Order ones. Dull colour palette? Can be done on the PS3? Too much climbing in an Uncharted game? Come on people.

Hey man, this plays like like an Uncharted sequel... I was expecting Skyrim meets Gran Turismo meets No Mans Sky here

It looks great, but most importantly the gameplay looks tactical and vertical as in Uncharted 2, vs. the regression that was Uncharted 3. Glad they're also keeping the focus on traversal+shooting (with seemingly better stealth mixed).

Huge sense of relief after seeing this.

It's not like I can't see the difference... but a generational leap in graphical fidelity? Are you guys for real?

Yes lol don't patronize me, I'm exactly aware of that and usually ND sets the bar higher than third parties. DA Inquisition looks as good as this UC4 demo IMO.

That Sully is pre-rendered in the cutscene on like 4 PS3s connected together and your shot of Drake's brother looks compressed.

As for the DA:I comment, I really don't know what to say other than that it throws away what you have been saying.

We all know it's gonna look amazing regardless

could you fucking not? that's an awful pic with barely any of the worthwhile lighting and it is definitely compressed

i must have miss it if there is a clear front view with lighting and yes there is compression , i must have said best quality video available.
it's stil a a near 4 mo image

Has Uncharted always had a climbing tool and ropes to get across ?

You're correct that they've claimed many things from the last Tomb Raider game.

Climbing pick (axe), rope (arrows), use of stealth in combat with the takedowns, even the flooded cave sequence.

It's like Naughty Dog saying "Ok, you take ideas from us, and we'll take yours right back from you."

Round, and round they go.

Naughty Dog have done a much better job with the implementation here though.

Cool.

I expect the environments to look even better by the time the game comes out, but I was still very impressed with the way Drake interacts with water (omfg, seriously), and foliage (a clear improvement on what we've seen in other games).

Also, you can tell the climbing animations have been slightly refined, sometimes the precision of it is impressive.

Visuals look real good. Need to take a look gamersyde version later when I get a chance

But I want to take a moment and appreciate how bloody awesome the level/encounter design was. Bravo ND. Looks like so much fun

Gameplay wise yes, everything shown could have been done on PS3 with a few less trimmings, moving bushes, etc...

Right like ever game ever. Come on now...

They said 60fps...

Now is at 30fps because it's in alpha stage or is going to be at that frame rate in the final version?

Alpha. Not attacking you but people really need to read all ND have said about 60fps because that's their aim for all the games they are making.

I thought the game looked very impressive, especially 1 year from release. They have tons of time to continue to work on the game.

I really like the layout of that mission they showed. It seemed like you could really go about multiple ways to get to your next checkpoint. I like how open ended it appeared to be.

I think we all wanted a much more open mission design, and this appears to be that. Hopefully they can maintain that layout throughout the game.
