Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

Are you sure it's not just the weather effects playing tricks on you?

Have you tried driving an India track on a clear sunny day and seeing if it looks better?

Well, now you got me hyped. Aren't you under the impression about it because of the new weather patch? IQ was overall better on overcast TOD. Tried to race on a sunny, clear TOD to get a better idea?

EDIT - what bananafactory said.

I just did a race in India, clear 12:00PM TOD. Yeah, I'm not crazy, trees look more defined, and they even drop leaves, there's single baloons floating around, it looks noticeably better. I'll upload a couple shots in a minute.

HYPE!

If I don't notice a difference tonight... I am coming for you Facundo :P

I don't want Gran Turismo 7 to lose its "Gran Turismoness" in regards to some of its weirder shit, but Evolution has clearly set the bar for current gen racing with Driveclub.

Most specifically and obviously the visuals/weather, but even down to things like the snappy menu and fast load times. Loading in GT6 is painfullllll

This is definitely going to get a Morpheus patch. Even if they dial things back to hit 60fps it'll still look great. Maybe it'll be in a limited version like motorstorm was for stereo 3D.
60fps isn't really high enough either, but perhaps they can make it work. A cut down version as a showcase is possible, but I doubt the hardware is anywhere near ready, much like the Rift. By the time it arrives, DriveClub will be old news. I would be very surprised if they do it. Gran Turismo is the more suitable candidate, as it would have always been developed aiming for 60fps, and I imagine it is being developed as one of the primary Morpheus titles, considering how much of a perfect match driving sims are for VR.

Damn it gaf, your making me want driveclub now.

Other than the (amazing) graphics, is this game worth getting (mind you I don't have a ps4 yet, but I plan on getting one soon next year.

Here's my Ariel Atom Kyle hot lap in bumper cam in the thundering rain.

Terrifying.

I can't remember the last time I was this impressed by the overall visual presentation of a game. This is taking me back to Gears of War 1 status legit shook right now. Cockpit view in the rain with some of the unique, dynamic lighting situations you find yourself in just looks astounding, particularly when there are lots of light sources on screen from the cars to the streetlights.

Bravo, Evo. Ridiculous talent on display.

The track designs are A+++ as well. Keep pumping those out as long as you can.

Happy to see that some of the game's achievements are finally being recognized. Considering how much it has changed I'd love to see some outlets re-review it, as has been done with other titles.

Ok just did this point to point in India and oh my god.

I think India is the best location to see the weather patch in full force.

Wait, the water in the windshield reacts to changes in direction and speed? This is the most inpressive think i've seen on current gen systems so far. I'm not joking, i've never seen water react like that in a game, let alone one that looks as good as this.

I'm getting this asap.

I traded Driveclub in a few weeks ago... Bought it again the other day when I heard it was all fixed up. What a difference a working game makes. It's incredible. All the challenges are seamless and now the weather... Good gat dayum.

It's a little shame that handling is still too good for rainy conditions.

Can anyone with the wheel report how strong is the change in grip between dry and wet?

Not played this in nearly a month or so.

Looks like I'm jumping back in!

Is there a massive difference in this game for using a wheel over a controller?

I generally find F1 games to be night and day when using a Wheel...

Oh and I want an F1 game in evolutions engine.

I still can't find any only lobby with precipitation ON, Am I alone? :(

its been like that all day.. They haven't added it to online matches yet....you will see lightning in the background in some clouds fro races that have lightning setting.

It plays quite well with a controller but I do find it significantly more enjoyable with a wheel. Much easier to "feel" the track and your car.

I've been seeing a lot of info here about using PC mode on your TV to play games. I have a Sony TV with a Game mode and I use it to reduce the input lag. Is PC mode only a Samsung feature or should I be looking for something on my Sony TV as well?

My TV: http://store.sony.com/55-class-54.6...BR55HX929/cat-27-catid-EOL-XBR-4K-Ultra-HDTVs

Thanks!

I have a Sony Bravia, Game mode is essentially PC mode in terms of what you are asking about (input lag).

Can't please everyone. When DC was first released with realistic lighting people complained the cars looked "floaty". Seems they are using less-realistic lighting for the weather to make it more video-gamey and people complain.

Its okay you can address me directly I'm not royalty. And I'm entitled to my opinion just as much as you are.

The effect looks stupid and obscures the view. I've been driving here in the UK over 20 years, it rains a lot. Thankfully though we can get around just fine without 90s star field screensavers obscuring the windscreen.

Holy baby jesus, talk about the most impressive looking weather effects of any game Hands fucking down. Shit, watching these video's i had a smile on my face the whole time. This right here is the welcome we deserve into Next gen, it only took a year but we made it baby.

Thanks guys. I wanna do a clean lap/race with high speed in the blizzard at night in Norway, but that's proving to be really difficult and challenging. lol

Will the Elements tour mode be up very soon? Anyone know?

Does this update also change the handling for different weather conditions? Do cars slip more due to wet roads etc?

Honestly, this is like DriveClub : Extreme Weather Expansion pack. It's almost a new game to me.

Not the biggest fan of racing games but this looks damn good now and the price on amazon is too hard to pass up. Can definitely see myself playing this game from time to time.

Yes, it changes the complete gameplay a lot.

Sounds good....too bad I am so bad at racers with a controller...I tried the demo at BB and could not do turns without crashing every time. I really want to buy and play this game but since I don't have a wheel, I am hesitating. Any pointers how to play this game with a controller and not suck?

The weather is awesome and everything but if there's one thing I don't like its that hitting puddles in the road makes absolutely no (noticeable) difference in handling or braking. There's no hydroplaning or anything at all. I wish it was more Sim in that respect, it seems like they just said "OK, in the rain make the cars slightly less grippy in turns." And adjusted a slider or something.

Brake early, don't use throttle until your round the corner(s).

Practise makes perfect so try a few time trials with different cars

I can't believe what I'm seeing GAF. O_o This game looks insane now with the weather update.

The new Gamersyde footage man, this is best looking looking race game ever made. Wow.

The king (PGR 4) is finally dethroned when it comes to weather effects.

I will order this game now, can't resist the eye candy.

Norway Atlanterhavsvegen, midnight, heavy precipitation (blizzard), stormy skies, no HUD, cockpit camera.

Nightmare fuel.

I couldn't see anything in front of me at times, had to rely on the lighting from the lightning to see how the track was changing up ahead.

With practice the game eventually feels real good with a controller. you just need to give it some time. I would say a day of racing will do it. Once you get it the handling is superb.
