The Order 1886: 15 mn of B Roll gameplay video (direct feed)

Just so we are clear, having a moment like that concept art in-game is NOT a breather. It's the exact opposite

:)

I will be if RAD includes photo mode. I'd spend at least fifteen minutes taking a ton of pictures no one but me will ever give a shit about.

Yeah man, its looking like an interactive movie more than TLoU. Maybe its just the way its edited. Atleast some of that gunplay looks exciting.
Come on chabbles, an interactive movie? It just sounds like you‘re trying to be negative. Why not just call it what it is? A cinematic 3rd person shooter. We're not talking about heavy rain here.

Dang, this 60fps B-Roll footage is such a tease. Game looks so fun at 60. Still, 30 won't be too bad.

Well, hyperbole and all, but i also still hope there will be large portions of the game where there are no small cutscenes every couple of seconds.
No matter how well they are done, they take you out of the immersion if it happens too often.

I have no problem with well done QTE-s though. They can be really great for life-death situations, making you even more nervous.

8:15 or so in the video was some interesting shit. That was a nice little shootout there, I enjoyed that.

I'm sure the complete lack of music had a bit to do with it, but everything up to that point looked like the most boring game ever.

The Dark Sorcerer was running on a quick port of the Beyond engine. I don't think QD will have any trouble taking the crown.

I have to agree. After just completing Beyond on PS3, I feel like with an upres and texture pack, it could have been a launch PS4 title. I also forgot that The Dark Sorcerer was practically 18 months ago now.

What's with the good AA? What's with the ridiculously good AA? How do you get such really, really, ridiculously good AA?

Now I actually can't wait for the more open-ended levels in London. This footage might coax me into buying the game sooner than I wanted.

I fucking hate Mega! it never works for me, download always freeze at 99% with nothing i can do :((

How can i fix it? please help it's really frustrating.

My biggest concern at this point with the game at this point is pacing. I'm totally fine cinematic presentation and cutscenes but the pacing of the scenes seems off.

Why do they spend 2 minutes scaling down the side of the zeppelin? Cinematically, that scene should be much tighter. Put that in the context of a video game and that scene is downright plodding.

Nope. They've never worked with Naughty Dog.

People really fucking underestimate RAD.

Reminds me of the reaction to Sucker Punch and the work they did with Infamous

Lets just go ahead and say it.

The PS4 is powerful, easy to program for ( compared to the past ) and these first party studios within Sony are f'in talented with this whole engine creation stuff.

I play a lot of game and this game is pretty far to be "the most boring game ever".

Any word on when we're going to get a glimpse of the soft-body physics, or more info on the horror elements? I assume RAD would like to keep the latter of the two under wraps as much as possible, but it would be nice to get some previews before the year is out. Most of my concerns about The Order have been alleviated and I'm eager for more information about the game world and how big a piece of the pie the action/detective/horror/story moments will have.

But will you not be 'breathless'?

Get it?

Sigh… I'll go back to my corner now.

Oh, I get it! I'll most likely be too busy talking to myself in an incredulous tone to forget to breathe.

I've been kinda avoiding this game, not trying to get my hopes up about it...

I'm looking at the vids now and I sorta can't believe my lying eyes. I'm so used to games being plagued by screen tearing everywhere including cutscenes regardless of them being prerendered or not, for starters.

My new year resolution will be to cut back on the negativity, but i stand by what i said.

Having said that, i'll be buying this game because it looks unique. Its a hybrid movie/game of some sort, or "cinematic 3rd person shooter", i see no difference.

I think a lot of the soft body physics are those cloth physics we are seeing and the pots and pans and stuff. I bet there is more with destructable environments and cover

The only thing more boring is the combat dialogue.

Who is he talking to in the kitchen?

I assumed Perceval was within earshot.

Yeah, I definitely noticed the amazing cloth physics, but I remember the Game Informer article from early this year saying that a large number of environmental objects would be soft bodies. I assumed a lot of that will be used for set pieces and such, but I think something was mentioned about puzzles as well. I'll have to find the article again and go through it. It seems RAD are being really secretive about the things they think will truly impress us. At least that's what I'm hoping.

-Gorgeous graphics
-Immersive atmosphere
-Promising premise
-Interesting characters
-Solid gameplay
-Superb voice acting
-Beautiful soundtrack (from what we've heard)
-Nikola Tesla

Only thing I didn't like so far is the stealth, but it seems that won't play a big part of the game.
Aside from that, this game is looking better and better. The wait is painful.

The music was disabled for b-roll since there's supposed to be commentary over it.

The only thing more boring is the combat dialogue.

Who is he talking to in the kitchen?
He's talking to Percival.

The footage in this B-roll is 30FPS. Video is 60, but every frame is repeated twice. Essentially, what you see here is what the game renders, with some added compression artifacts to the video of course. The reason it looks smoother than most 30FPS games is that they employ some ridiculously good motion blur.

Eh, maybe I'm just being too defensive, I just read "interactive movie" all passive aggressively. Just so many "David Cage game" and "looks like Heavy Rain" comments. :p

The IQ is superb, i dont know what AA they use but there is not a jaggie insight. Anybody know what technique they use?

That's the third person now who has thought it was 60 fps due to the super high quality motion blur. Dat blur doin the business.

Anyone notice the cloud shadows passing over the fabric shell of the airship when viewed from inside at about 2:30? I guess it could be fog inside but incredible either way.

I'm definitely hoping they have kept stuff like that secret. Curious how they would incorporate it into puzzles. I didn't notice the wooden tables getting damage in the b-roll though...
