Say Devil May Cry 5 is announced. What do you want to see?

I want a crossover of Devil May Cry and DMC. Devil May Cry Dante will pick on DMC Dante, and help mentor/guide him on how to help his brother turn onto the right path. Nero can be in it as a older man who is more powerful and experienced, and just make this game showing the best of both series of the game. But all while keeping it a sequel to DMC more so. Then in the end make it so it's possible that we can either see a DMC or Devil May Cry game again, and that these two universes of Devil May Cry can coexist with each other. (But then say fuck that, and go straight to Devil May Cry 5 for the next game.)

I want to see co op. And not just a hack job. I mean, true, built from the ground up, coop.

Like combos designed to take advantage of coop play. New characters, tougher enemies, the works.

Co op can work if done right. Just look at mortal combat shaolin monks. That game was--

...ok. I'll just let myself out.

New origin story with the gang as teens Dante, Lady, Vergil are all there, Trish too. Nero and Kyrie are kids encountered in the game. New story, built on Panty raid engine

Yes please Coop it needs to happen!
- Bring back Vergil and make him playable in some form.
- Make Dante's style system flow better than it does now
- bring back weapons like the ones in DMC3. I was disappointed when Nero got only 1 sword and gun, and Dante got basically 2 / 3 of the same melee weapons from DMC3. We need a bow staff weapon, and bring back a nun-chuck like weapon.. DMC3 was king with weapon variety..
- bring back crazy combos or w/e they are called (those were cool)
- more action/button overloading, aka like table hopper, and moves you can mash out in different instances (like crazy combos too i guess). DMC is pretty good with this already though..
- Change up battle music, don;t make it the same theme like the previous DMCS (-DmC), the Boss battle music is great so model it after that
- enemy types from DMC4 were probably the best so more like them
- Weapons of all elements
- Boss battles relegated to a single mission and/or boss rush mode
- mission mode ala NG
- possible more open worldish like NG black, but not a requirement
- plenty of normal size bosses, don't go bayonetta route please
- dual wielding weapons, like Vergil's Yamato Force Edge combo, and options to customize what weapons can be dual wielded (like some fpses add weight to weapons or classes you can carry)
- probably make dodge a button, though I don't care too much about that
- more evolution of devil trigger abilities and leveling up of devil trigger abilities
- Make weapons have better range and stickier to enemies like in DMC3, and a little more range than DMC4
- Better story. Basically make it like DMC3's where the characters are developed well enough and the story isn't too convoluted. Just setup cool lore and have a basic story...

I'd like it to have a bit more rpg-ish hooks to it. Maybe have the option to create a character instead of boring old Dante every single time. Also, some co-op would be nice. Maybe say up to 4 people playing at a time? Of course, not everyone can get so many friends together so you should be able to play with computer controlled sidekicks too. I also think it would be neat if you could use the create a character to make your own sidekick and share that sidekick with other people. Of course, if we're going to have so much co-op we should allow people to specialize in a certain playstyle to mix things up and make sure fights aren't just a bunch of people spamming the same move. We should probably make it so all characters are assigned a certain class with certain skills that others don't have. Of course, you would be able to level up those skills through fighting. Also I think we can all agree that the devil thing alone is a bit overplayed, so it would be nice to introduce some more elements like say... dragons? A bit too dogmatic?

Devil May Bayonetta?

I also wouldn't mind a DmC2 if they put better writers on it, removed color-coded enemies, and just generally tightened things up.
DmC's environmental design was phenomenal, and the combat was solid enough that I bet Ninja Theory could do a sequel justice building on what they learned.

Definitely for PC, though. 60FPS was a necessity.

You can play as any of the characters anyone mentioned they want to play as. Capcom made a cast of characters that obviously resonate better with some than others by the huge amount of different responses in this thread. It also adds huge replayability to a game that hardcore fans probably play the shit out of. Also no shitty backtracking.

Being serious for a moment, in my ideal world we would get an action game with DMC/Bayo tier combat but with an open world structure instead of a mission menu.

And an infinite survival Bloody Palace with random enemy spawns and no timer from 4.

I don't really have too many specific wants. Basically, I want:

-Music like DMC1's. I'm mostly not a fan of what they went with in 3 and 4, although I understand that most people who are really into the series are.

-Strong and interesting enemies like in DMC1 and 4. This is probably my biggest desire really; if they draw heavily from the enemies in DMC3 and (to a slightly lesser extent) DmC, I'd be really disappointed.

-No insane environment reuse like in DMC4. I'm fine if they do it to the extent seen in 1 and 3 though.

-Ideally I'd like there to be multiple well-developed, interesting playable characters. It'd be fucking awesome if we could get Dante, Trish, Nero, and Lady or something like that, and have them all be cool to play as. But honestly, I imagine this is a big part of the reason DMC4's stage reuse turned out the way it did. I really love having both Dante and Nero in the same game, but although I want there to be multiple characters - if it's that or taking some major compromise on something else, I'd be okay with just having Dante (or shit, maybe even just Nero. I like him a lot even though a big part of the reason he's interesting is how his playstyle contrasts with Dante's).

-I'd like to see them keep the kind of grounded feel (compared to Platinum's games). I really love Bayonetta and I think MGR is pretty great too, but they have this big focus on insane over-the-top setpieces and on making it really easy to feel like a badass even if you only kind of know what you're doing (sort of like what Nero's devil bringer does, but taken to another level). DMC feels a lot more intimate and player-controlled, and I'd like to see Capcom stick with that style.

- Nero and Dante as MCs
- each with its own meaty campaigns,
- different bosses as well as some uniqu enemies in each campaign
- more devil arms for both
- expand on dantes styles, maybe some kind of mix and match between styles
- maybe use neros devil arms to grant unique abilities to devil bringer while having a huge movelist unique to each weapon, for example, using yamato gives him some form of darkslayer styles and abilities
- proper nero devil trigger form while still maintaining DT stand that can change DAs as well
- go CUHRAYZEE on presentation
- bloody palace with various characters like vergil, trish, lady, etc
- boss rush where you can fight bosses from other campaigns
- various costumes

- personally dont want co-op to be in, but if it has, i'd prefer if it was in some kind of intersecting level or being restrictde to modes like bloody palace

I can't find my own wishlist so I will just make a new one.

*Set after DMC4. Loose end tied, Nero's relationship with Vergil confirmed and expanded up. Game needs to confirm that there are more powerful demons or a different multiverse with beings more powerful than Mundus. Dante actually has to try now. I don't have much to say about story but it needs to be written better. Cutscene direction needs to be more like DMC3 where there are more simply more balls to the wall action scenes.

*Itsuno and Neo_G directed of course. These guys are the best for the job.

*Return of Vergil. He can be anti hero, protagonist, antagonist whatever... just bring him back.

*Doesn't really matter who is playable. Can be Dante + Vergil or Dante + Nero. 3 of them would be over doing it. Dante should definitely be playable though, he's the main man of the series.

*Semi open world design. Not asking for Ass Creed here but more along the lines of a Souls or a Metroidvania game. Interconnected regions, areas that aren't unlocked until you have certain abilities. PS2 era linear level design is not going to fly anymore. You should still be ranked on performance in particular regions but the game doesn't need to be split into number missions especially for the main story. Have it all be continuous but you can go back to particular "checkpoints" to improve ranks sort of like Verses in Bayonetta.

*Devil Hunter side missions. You have the main story but side missions are present that you take on as jobs through NPCs. You can choose to accept them. Some of them have you tracking certain demons in a certain region. It would be a way to utilize the more open design of the game. Please no fetch quests though. Completing side missions would unlock stuff to customize Dante as a professional demon hunter or his own shop and some side missions would give you interesting combat related items (not weapons but stuff like the Bangle of Time). These can of course be replayable to attain higher ranks.

*Styles of Dante incorporated into the base controls. Switching Styles doesn't make sense when you are switching just to gain basic techniques like Dashing and Wall running. Stuff like that should be tools available to Dante. The D-pad can be used to switch whole weapon load outs (like Right/Left D-pad allows you to switch from Rebellion + Beowulf to Cerberus + A&R where as Up/Right switches gun load out). R2/L2 switches between 2 weapons at max... none of this 3 weapon crap from DMC4 where you needed multiple presses to switch to a single weapon.

*Nero's combat expanded greatly. Give him additional weapons and tools, make use of the whole control like with Dante.

*Some element of combat customization to return from DMC3. DMC3 had you customize Style and weapons which lead to the development of various playstyles among players and preference. While I want Dante to have all styles and a shit ton of weapons at once (same for Nero)... I want some of these factors to be customizable. I feel that it adds an extra layer of strategy and replyability to the games. Maybe that or further customization on individual weapons (like a rune system... eh I am just throwing stuff out now).

*Enemy AI greatly improved to accommodate for Dante/Nero having better evasive tools. I want more aggressive enemies, I want them to jump up to try to hit you when you are comboing someone else mid air. I want more mix ups in their behavior patterns.

*Combo system expanded further. Hit stun decay incorporated but not like a fighting game. Basically you can combo as you can in the previous games but repeating combos causes less hit stun on moves allowing enemies to escape from combos if you start repeating them. This would put greater emphasis on mixing up your combos and it would create an extra layer of skill and creativity for combo creation in combo videos.

*Speaking of combo videos... I want a full training system with input recording, enemy spawning, environment spawning, slow down time/speed up time, ability to pause the action and rotate camera while everything is frozen... basically control of various parameters. I used to asked for uploading of footage from the training mode but with the PS4 system it's not hard to upload stuff, we just need a good training mode.

*Customized Trial mode. Basically this is like the customized arena mode from Dante's Inferno. Game has a Mission mode type system where you are given a bunch of challenges. However aside from the game's own trials you can customize your own OR download trials of others to see if you can beat them. Players can rate other people's trials and people can keep stacking up the difficulty (increasing speed, increasing style decay, increasing enemy aggressiveness/AI, decrease player health, limit certain tools of players etc).

*Return of Bloody Palace mode with ability to play online co-op (Nero + Dante). Co-op BP would have it's own leaderboards and match making system.

*Costumes, costumes and more costumes. Game definitely needs a ton of unlockables. It's too much to ask but having legacy weapons in DMC5 would be godlike too.

*Fully rotatable camera like DmC. None of this half ass movable camera.

*In-depth combat stat tracking like in DmC. Also option to display individual style points of moves with the style bar. I would also like to be able to try out moves right there and then like in DmC.

*DMD mode's Devil trigger enemies have individualized buffs given to them. Some enemies will hit harder, some will be faster, some will even do newer moves. DT activates when you take too long to kill enemies. When DT'd enemies take damage proportional to your Style gauage.. so they take 20% damage when you are at D rank, 30% at C rank, 40% at B, 50% at A, 60% at S, 80% at SS and 100% at SSS. This would mean that DMD enemies don't actually have way more health than from Very Hard/SoS mode but if you play like crap they will take longer to kill.

*More gothic, moody environment like DMC1. Enemy designs like that too. Actually not even DMC1 is gothic enough... that crown has gone to Bloodborne. Of course not that level but at least DMC1 level would be good for DMC5 especially if they are going for a more serious/darker tone.

*More orchestral music please. We can have the hard rock stuff but I want my boss fights to have the organ/chorus music that was in DMC1/DMC3 which was godlike.

Generally everything from the previous DMC games (like 60FPS, hard lock on, taunts etc) should return except for the following:

*Backtracking. No one gives a fuck about that.

*Shitty puzzles. Replace with platforming that requires skill like usage of wall runs, dashing, teleports etc.

*Passive as fuck enemies. No more training mode dummies as enemies please.

*Don't bring back DTE. It's bad enough holding so many inputs, I don't want to hold anymore. In fact just make DT R3 + L3 so that it frees up L1 as a Royal Guard block button.

*Mashing to get crazy combo moves out. DMC4 had the perfect system of holding an input to get its auxiliary move out (ie. you just held down Triangle after doing Stinger to get Million Stab out).

*No repeated boss fights unless the bosses progress as characters throughout the story and improve their repertoire dramatically (like Vergil in DMC3).

I genuinely believe that hell will freeze over before Devil May Cry fans ever get what they want again, especially if the original series is what they care about. The only reasonable course is to have no hopes concerning that franchise, and expect nothing.

Takes place after DMC2.

Dante must go through the depth of hell for akin Dante`s Inferno but with everything better everything.( after all he did said he would go to hell on the ending of DMC2)

The game focus on Dante`s Journey but offers missions that connect to the main plot for 4 others characters ( Nero, Trish, Lady, Lucia) akin to Yakuza 5

Each characters has it own unique set of styles.
Corrupted Nero Angelo/Vergil Returns
Explains the deal with Nero and Vergil
No dice
No Backtracking
No Ninja Theory Involvement at ALL.
Sets up for a Devil May Cry 6 in which we play as Sparda " a time travel plot similar to Onimusha 3.)

I only read "Devil May Cry 5 announced" and my heart skipped a beat

Developer: Platinum Games.

I know why people ride Platinum's dick to the ends of the earth, but I'd prefer if Capcom's team does Dante. These giant crazy set pieces are neat, but I always liked Dante's more "grounded" fights.

I want DMC5 to open with this sequence:

Uncle Dante wakes up from his afternoon nap, looks at Trish and tells her, "I had this cuhrayzee dream where I had this god-awful dark hair and looked like a dino! I had to fight Bill O'Reilly inside a TV and kick the crap out of a pregnant demon lady. How messed up is that?"

Then the phone rings, gets hired for a job by a client, and off we go, DMC style. Don't care much for the story, just gimme more of Uncle Dante! Oh and maybe revive Vergil.

This has been discussed pretty exhaustively in the past, but I think a job based structure, where you can freely choose different jobs for Dante on a city map. Only certain missions would actually progress a mainline story. Using this structure, they can continue to add side missions and bosses via DLC.

The game doesn't need to be about Sparda. And it doesn't need to be about a human trying to gain the power of Sparda. This has been retread time and again. Instead, make a villainous and charming antagonist, and work the story around him/her. That's the most important thing.

Multiple characters are a must, even if not fully integrated into the story. DMC5 would be a game where I will gladly pay for additionally developed DLC characters down the line. Each character is essentially his/her own game. I want to play as Dante, Nero, Vergil, Lady, Trish, etc. Keep 'em coming.

In addition to the Dante Must Die, I want a Dante Must Style difficulty, where you only deal any damage at certain Style Rankings- A: 25%, S: 50%, SS: 75%, SSS: 100%. This would allow players to get more creative within the confines of the game itself.

I have no idea. They're screwed. They can't bring back Dante just like that, because it would be like DMC4. Then there's the residual resentment of DmC from fans like me, so they have to change things up a little to make it fresh. I want to say make the first half of the game about Trish and Lady, but then you might say they're hopping on Bayo's bandwagon.

Better than Alex Garland?

smh

If it was his idea to have Kat tell a melancholy story about being sexually abused by demons every night as a child was his idea, then yes. Better than him.

That scene/those lines were so manipulatively sympathetic and such obvious "rape as drama" that I busted out laughing at the story, instead of being horrified.

God damn it Guardian you literally just copy/pasted what I posted in my wishlist!

But I much prefer your naming convention though...

Alex Garland was an adviser, but he didn't write DmC. It was credited to Tameem.

Oh wow. I was planning on reading your post after because I wanted to jot some quick immediate thoughts down. I think we had talked about damage-style integration before, so I'm not surprised.

I'd personally prefer there be a particular difficulty set aside for this new Style damage only gameplay, and leave DMD DT as something else.

60 frames per second, no exceptions. Lock-on.

And also most everything this guy said:

- DMC1 levels of atmosphere and enemy design
- Butt rock with butt vocals. The time has come and so have I. I can see the fear clear as I look in your eyes.
- Uncle Dante who becomes more serious business gradually throughout the game.
- 5 devil arms and 5 guns
- On-the-fly style switching. On-the-fly arms and guns switching.
- More aggressive enemies like Blitz. Dancing scarecrows are fine at the start of the game but have no place later on.
- A scene making fun of DmC
- A scene with pizza
- Cleavage
- Awesome boss QTE moments a la DMC4, Bayonetta, and Metal Gear Rising. But keep them limited to boss finishers, don't want qtes for regular enemies and certainly not for cutscenes *vomits*
- LITTLE TO NO BACKTRACKING.

I like that opening.

Also great idea for the missions: make it like two to three stages per job, don't need an overarching story culminating in a massive mutant boss the size of a building. I'm tired of that, and let's face it they suck at telling stories anyway.

Oh u can choose among Dante/Nero/Trish/lady for each job.

a theme song as good as devils never cry

a fakeout intro making fun of DmC though i feel that's too mean spirited for a real DMC game

style switching

I can't believe I forgot about co-op.

Co-op is an absolute must. It's a downright shame that Devil May Cry was beaten by both Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta in integrating online co-operative play. My mind explodes with the thought of co-op combo videos utilizing different character pairings.

Dante, Vergil, Nero. All playable a la DMC3.

Dante has the on-the-fly style switch a la DMC4. With the option to do DMC3's style mode as Vergil, maybe? (Though probably Dante should have that since DMC3 Vergil has his own style)

Nero is the same as DMC4 Nero.

Very little backtracking.

Boom. DMC5 best-seller.

I'd like to see a new character that actually looks cool (cough) and embodies the DMC style that's been adopted since 3.

And I'd like to see the same weapon diversity that was present in Bayonetta 2.

1) Real Time Tag Switching - Instead of switching styles, I'd rather have the option of being able to tag Dante and Nero on the fly. Since this has been done in the likes of Sengoku BASARA (another KobaP production) for several years, I'd love to see what it could do for DMC.

2) More playable characters - Runs tandem with #1. Not only bring back Vergil, but let's add in Lady and Trish, while we're at it. Give Vergil Darkslayer, and perhaps Trish could get a style that elaborates on her DMC2/MvC3-based movesets, while Lady can inherit and upgraded version of Gunslinger.

3) Co-op Bloody Palace - Bayo2's Tag Climax pretty much laid the groundwork for something I've been wanting in this genre for years. Maybe Itsuno/Neo_G and co. can add their own twist on this idea? Besides, I think adding at least one type of co-op aspect would be something Capcom's marketing team would appreciate.

The whole concept for "Dante Must Style" mode came when DMC3 leaked and people on Gamefaqs were like "oh man DMC3 DMD mode is so hard... you don't do any damage to enemies unless you are S or higher!" People actually got hyped for it but as it turned out enemies just had a fuck ton of health and having more Style rating didn't impact this.

I thought it would be cool that instead of having tanks for enemies that their health depended on the Style rating. This would force players to be more creative in their combat rather than relying on the bread and butters.

Here would be my additional difficulty modifications on "Dante Must Style" mode:

*Style gauge builds up slower but goes down faster. Repeating a move instead of retaining neutral style would cause heavier decay than normal.

*Enemies will instantly pop out of a combo if during a combo your decay resulted in a full letter grade decrease.

*Taunting in Dante Must Style mode slightly reworked. Taunted enemies will increase their damage and speed by 100% (twice as fast and twice as damaging). You will receive a 10% damage boost on S rank or higher grades (so on SSS rank you will be doing 110% damage). This will apply on bosses too. A failed taunt (a taunt that does not raise style meter because you used it too early) would result in your getting a damage nerfed by 10% instead.

*Enemies are more potent during their own Devil Trigger mode but if you Style hard on another enemy with full SSS rank and kill them with SSS then it will remove the DT of close by enemies for a short time as they would be scared of your demonic power.

1) Real Time Tag Switching - Instead of switching styles, I'd rather have the option of being able to tag Dante and Nero on the fly. Since this has been done in the likes of Sengoku BASARA (another KobaP production) for several years, I'd love to see what it could do for DMC.
That would be some next level shit but I can't imagine how it would make sense in the game. Like where would the bodies of Nero or Dante would be when not in action?

Make sure its weapon swapping. Not weapon cycling.

Dmc3 was weapon swapping. Good.

Dmc4 was weapon cycling. Pain in the ass.

I adapted, but give people the option to load out how many weapons they want on hand at once.
