I'm sometimes concerned for you.
It's no joke. You guys just don't see Kuvira the way I do. She's got some confidence to be able to take Republic City the way she's doing it.It is now canon that Toa Tak is a joke character in this thread.

They made sure to include shots of the decision weighing on her. She gave a fuck, she just wants the city more.I think we've lost the sliver of hope we had for Kuvira getting some depth. She flat out did not give a fuck about Bataar Jr, which comes across as pointless just to make her seem like more the bad guy.
i'm expecting book 4's ending to at least be better than 1's.I can't disagree with anything here.
If anything, I'd have Book 4 and book 1 a draw.
Same, although i'm expecting book 4's ending to at least be better than 1's.
there are people who have never read Sandman? Those poor creaturesOh, speaking of reactions.
Korra comes back and tensely but otherwise calmly states that there is a hundred foot giant robot coming to blast this city off the face of the earth.
Their reaction to this news is also tense, but otherwise calm and orderly. Like, no. You just got told a giant fucking robot is coming to wreck your shit. This is the appropriate reaction to have.
For those unfortunate enough to have never read Sandman, this isn't missing any speech bubbles. This is the character trying to reply, and failing because he can't think of anything to say to what he has just been told.
That is the only plausible reaction to have.
On another note, while I understand that Kuvira is supposed to be a serious character, she really should have laughed her ass off at the President's impotent threat. "Bitch, I am literally standing in front of you in a giant fucking robot. Are you SURE you do not want to rephrase what you just said to me, ant?"
Yes!
But it's not the production team's fault for the budget cuts, though.I think book 1 is far superior to book 4. Book 1 had better pacing, a far superior villian (for 98% of the season), no clips episode, and none of these budget cut stills from the last episode.
She had atleast a lifetime to accomplish everything. With Bataar, this is literally overnight.
Toph has a foot radar that spans the entire continent, Suyin makes Leonardo Da Vinci look like a chump, and Bataar Jr. just shrank Tony Stark's penis to microsize.
What next, Opal awakens to find out she is actually omnipotent and rewrites all of reality?
I'm sometimes concerned for you.
Actually after i posted that i was talking to my brother about the same thing. He convinced me I was wrong. Book 1 is defintly better as a whole. I still think book 1 is the best looking of the seasons as well.I think book 1 is far superior to book 4. Book 1 had better pacing, a far superior villian (for 98% of the season), no clips episode, and none of these budget cut stills from the last episode.
I see how it is.i learn to blot it out
So Opal is evil then![]()
Its ambiguous, we can only speculate, since we arent show much of her character, but since we start seeing her at the first episode of book 4, Kuvira was already a power hungry, manipulative bitch that played everyone, bandits, Bolin, the Governor, Varrick, the united republic, etc. who is to say she not played with junior too? she goes along with him because he is useful loyal, and is a card against opal and suyin, she did care for him, but i think by the moment we first see her she would not hesitate to throw him away if he became an obstacle, like Bolin. You think so? Was it the hug in the beginning that swayed you? Or just that they had planned to be married from the get-go?
While I like to think she did have feeling for Jr, I can't really feel convinced from what I've seen in this show.
Just embrace it, guys.
Embrace the murderous Empress.
So are we getting a distant finale of who's fucking who and who's had who's baby?
Korra and Asami, Korra has kid.So are we getting a distant finale of who's fucking who and who's had who's baby?
I see how it is.
Opal is above such low and human concepts as good and evil.
Hey you have to admit, Book 1's ending blew itself out of the water. And 'nuff said about how great Kuvira is.as said before its only in regards to the book 2 finale and any Kuvira stuff
It's gonna end like TDKR, replace Alfred with Tenzin.Maybe we will finally find out why the show is called Legend of Korra
If Zhu Li and Varrick get together at the end of Book 4, I will be happy.
oh god I just remembered harry potter and laughed like a madman.
Korra with a mustache going to her son.
"Mommy why did you name me this way"
"Now now son. I named you after some of the most influential people in this world."
"But I hate my name"
"Guru Laghima Tenzin Aang Sokka Bumi you take that back"
Redemption!?
She's been putting people in concentration camps! I'm pretty sure the only reason there hasn't been an implied holocaust happening is because this is still a Nick show.
Learn the way of the meganekko Toa.Ah I remember those days.
Contacts are the way to go.
After a shit fucking day this really does bring a smile to my faceis now literally:

Return to Castle Kuvirastein. Only thing missing is the Stroheim chest cannon.
This is great. Somebody really needs to draw Kuvira as Liquid and include his coat.
But Bataar is a non bender. I guess she could've castrated him then.I really didn't like....how Korra's threat worked.
Like, what?
Just keeping him away from her? If things went according to plan, they could rescue Bataar or something.
Good ep besides that I guess.
IMO, she should've bluffed taking away his bending or something.

I was expecting her to take him to the Spirit Realm and use that to break him. Trapping him there as a threat would be pretty effective too--what could Kuvira do about that?

Well, friends today was our last official day at Nickelodeon. Mike and I posed in front of a poster that a bunch of you generous fans made for us at NYCC back in 2008 as a way for us to say THANK YOU! You are an amazing international community of creative, thoughtful, progressive humans and we are lucky to have had your support in our endeavors all these years. I mean, you guys won Tumblr gold and bronze yesterday! We hope you enjoy the 1-hour Korra series finale next week. Well be staying busy and staying in touch. I wish you all the best in your own endeavors and creative journeys!
AV ClubWhoever is left standing is going to have one hell of a challenge stopping Kuvira, and the best thing this episode does is put the heroes in an underdog position. The stakes are monumentally high for Team Avatar, but that will just make their victory all the more satisfying. Or maybe Kuvira will win and the series will end on a huge downer. Either way, we only have to wait one more week to find out.
IGNBetween Republic City's evacuation and Kuvira's giant mecha suit, The Legend of Korra's third-to-last episode set the stage nicely for an all-out showdown in next week's two-part finale. In addition to fun character moments (Zhu Li confronting Varrick, Mako reading protocols, etc.), "Kuvira's Gambit" also featured some heavy and powerful beats, particularly for Korra and Kuvira.
As the saying goes, this is the beginning of the end...
But Bataar is a non bender. I guess she could've castrated him then.
Oh, oops. Good catch.Baatar Jr. is a non-bender.
On the one hand, yeah, I also didn't like the threat from Korra. On the other, Kuvira showed them just how stupid that idea was in the first place.
I was expecting her to take him to the Spirit Realm and use that to break him. Trapping him there as a threat would be pretty effective too--what could Kuvira do about that?
