Swung by Meijer in central Michigan today. Had plenty of Mario, Link, Pikachu...The tags for Marth, WFT, and Villager had been covered with blank tags. No wave 2.
And the worst part has yet to come.
They released the most common ones already. The incoming waves are gonna be a real nightmare.

No, because Nintendo always is conservative with demand. The thing that is making this difficult is hoarders and resellers that are buying up stock and creating demand for stuff, especially Wave 2, that isn't all that rare. Nintendo will produce more as they have seen demand for Amiibos increase, but people buying shit up and trying to make a profit aren't helping the situation.

I looked up online which Target might have Little Mac. Plenty said out of stock in store but the one near me said In Stock. So I showed up 15 min after they opened and didn't see any Wave 2 at all on the rack, but then all the racks were filled with no spots for them. So I asked the Target employee if they had the new Nintendo figures and he said he was just about to put them out. I thought, great, nobody has gotten to it. So he brings out the rack and there's only Diddy and Zelda. WTF? Where did Little Mac go? He said they didn't have any. Bleh. They only had about four Zeldas and four Diddys.

I think it could have been worse.
It's not like the Wii U is setting the world on fire, and there are already two popular competing brands in the same space. There's only so much retail space to be had.
The two things I think have been planned poorly
1)Not offering any of them via their own website
2)Not having solid release dates for Wave 2

While they knew they'd make a killing and do a limited release the fact that wave 2 was fucked and not released together def isn't a sign they know what they are doing.
It's just the demand is so high they can make mad bank even not knowing wtf they are doing.
Still doesn't make it any less of a cluster. Shit worse than trying to find the N64 back in the day during launch Holiday.

Wanted to buy Zelda and Little Mac today at best buy but they refused to sell the ones they had till the 17th for Zelda and 19th for Little Mac. Which is weird because right next door at TRU they were selling both on Friday.
I wanted to buy them at BB since they are $10.40 for GCU members and TRU inflated the prices by a buck.
TRU was nice enough to price match though (to 12.99) so i just bought Zelda there... no more little mac though ;_;

yeah when I was at Best Buy earlier the register locked out the sale till the 17th. When the guy went to get it for me though he said all they had was Zelda.

Damn Nintendo, do you know what a fucking street date means? I went out to TrU to check on Wave 2. Nothing. I call Target on my way out and they say they have some in stock After driving down there, they have ONE. A princess Zelda.I wanted Captain Falcon, Icarus, or Little Mac, but I didn't want to leave empty-handed. I was told Zelda was the only one who had an actual street date for today and they sold the other ones early. What a clusterfuck.

Now that I have the 2 I wanted from part 1 of wave 2. Now I'll be on the lookout for him and falcon. Thank god I preorederd the wave 3 I wanted.

Refreshing the Rosalina page got me thinking about potential retail exclusives down the road. In future waves I could totally see:
Best Buy - Duck Hunt
Toys R Us - Jigglypuff
Gamestop - Ness
Target - Wario
Ideally there wouldn't be any more exclusives going forward, but I doubt that'll be the case :/

Yeah, I've preorder all of my Wave 3 preferred figures too. I was late on Wave 2 and only managed to order Little Mac & Captain Falcon.
I could see ROB being a retailer exclusive.
You know at some point Amazon and Walmart are going to get in on that exclusive action.
I'm betting both Amazon and Walmart will get exclusives in a later wave as they are listed as Nintendo retailers on the Amiibo page.

Nope. Ended yesterday. Was all week as it was for videogames and accesories and amiibos (along Skylanders and Infinity) are considered accesories.

Went to Target this morning the second I saw that they had Diddy Kong in stock, and when I got there, someone else was also waiting for the Diddy Kong as well as Little Mac. We were just shooting the shit and I didn't realize at the time he was a scalper, but we just talked for a bit while waiting since the Target employee had to get the amiibos out the back. Well they come forward with the cart, and they said they had 3 Diddys, which this guy was about to buy all of, as well as cleaning house on their 4 Little Macs, he only bought 2 Zeldas though. But he was so nice and ended up handing me a Diddy as well! So thanks Mr. Scalper, you made my day, even though if I was 5 minutes later I probably wouldn't have gotten it.
Plus my Diddy, he doesn't seem to Derp!

Well two visits to two different targets and no diddy kong. The one i went to near me the employees are either kinda dumb or are hoarding them because they said they didn't have them but seemed a bit weird about it. The other one which I arrived at 40 minutes after they opened did get them but sold out when I arrived there. I did notice however that they had a luigi sticker out on one of the pegs but the employee said they didn't receive any. So maybe we'll see him soon? Perhaps Tuesday? I'm in California also.
