This is my main gripe with the internet.
If the robot is made of platinum, then Korra will find a way to bend it because that makes sense right?
Book 4 finale wishlist:
-Spirit vines take down Kuvira-bot
-Zhu Li and Varrick do the thing (if you know what I mean)
-Korra gets with no one
-Wu does not become king aka free elections
Korra gonna get with Bataar Jr. Just you watch.
Korra gonna get with Bataar Jr. Just you watch.
Let's not complain about things that haven't even happened yet. There'll be plenty of time for that later.
No way!
Bataar Jr. and Iroh Jr. is the real OTP here. Junior shipping.
Yup, it's gonna be amazing when Republic City goes down.Lol finale will have so many glorious tears.
Wow. I can't imagine how someone who loves this franchise must feel, because as a casual fan, I think I witnessed something worse than Book 2 today.
Kuvira bot is somehow better than S2's spirit jaegars.
Shit it looks so stupid. But I still really enjoyed this episode. Bataar Jr. is going to kill Kuvira.
I hope the spirits get involved somehow. They probably will. Mega vine.
Maybe the spirit vine super soldier serum is already in her back pocket. Kuvira seems like a determinator though. She's not going to let something like her robot being smashed dissuade her from her goal so defeating her will take a bit. Korra will probably just break all of her bones or something with an avatar state tornado.Yeah that's something to consider. Like, I think the design of the robot itself looks really stupid/silly. But then again, I also think the problem with the Korra/Kaiju right wasn't just that it looked silly and played out clunky. It was more so like, just the overall plot and how it was used. How the fight itself was done. It was just a mess.
So really, the robot can look as stupid as it wants. As long as the fighting stuff is great. And the last episode was cool. So.
I just can't imagine Kuvira stays in that robot for the majority of the episode. At some point she has to get knocked out of it. I mean just from a practical point of view, Kuvira being in it for more then 10 min means she would decimate all of Republic City. That beam alone can take out a pretty substantial chunk. So her running wild on the City for like 10 min would pretty much leading nothing left.
So I do think Korra is going to take on the robot obviously right away. And I imagine Kuvira will be taken out of it early on. Then they will keep fighting (because this isn't even my final form). I'm going to sigh if Kuvira DOES end up fusing with the spirit vine energy (like we joked about)....and becomes a mutant (after the Robot is destroyed). Not really sure how they would do that. And I don't think they would do that at this point.
But just lol
Kuviratron whises it was the giant Vaatu spirit.well let's not go that far. But the idea of giant robot in a show based off martial arts is off putting

Please no serum. :/

Yeah I kind of agree. But I also felt that way going back to Book 1. I mean, it wasn't awful per se. But the idea of like technology mixing with a world of magic, and like you said, with everything rooted in martial arts (that's really what bending is)....it always felt jarring to me.
For all the criticisms you could have against Kaiju Korra and Unavatuu, you could at least say they were fighting like hand to hand, and using their spirit energy. So it looked incredibly stupid. And the fight was really dumb. But it doesn't feel as lol (at least to me) as a big fuckin Robot. Also, why did they go with that design? Out of all the designs for a robot mech, the thing looks like something out the Jetsons. It's just so silly..
The topic of technology in this show is something I have a big issue with.
Martial arts and technology can still co-exist peacefully without fucking silly anime technology. The series was doing fine up until people like Varric started introducing mecha suits. Technology was relatively grounded to the 1920's era they were basing the show off of.
The second we started introducing mecha suits that's when I knew the show jumped the technological shark. These are technologies we don't have today and you expect me to believe that a show where technology hasn't advanced past early ford vehicles and silent films can all of a sudden create technology that we ourselves don't have in this modern day and age where technology moves at a much faster rate than Korra's world?
The spirit vine weaponry I can forgive because it's basically their version of the atomic bomb, but now they're using it as a cannon.
S1 was the perfect representation of technology in the show, if you suspend your disbelief a tiny bit with certain technology. The idea that the non-benders advance technology so they can have a chance against benders is great, but executed poorly.
An issue with the show is that probably in reality, just like the swords and cannons irl, they should have used the technology from cannons and so on to create guns/rifles. But it being a Nick show means they can't show that particular aspect of technological advancement. It would have been a great statement if all of a sudden nobody is bending as heavy because guns kill people faster, and a lot of folks move on to using guns in warfare.
I guess my argument is that technology can be grounded and still present a threat. All Kuvira really needed is to have a vehicle, such as a big ass tank, with the cannon on top, and ground troops surrounding it as to protect it. It didn't need the mechs nor the giant mech.
I personally wouldn't have a problem with the Mech if it looked more steampunk-y.
Steampunk is defined by it's rough looking, asymetric looking design. The one Kuvira has, other than looking stupid, just flat out looks like it's from another show entirely. If her mech had this kind of roughness, it'd be easier to swallow, because this obviously isn't an ideal, refined design, so I could buy it as this massive prototype kind of weapon.
I wasn't a fan of the smaller mechs that were introduced in the first season either though.
She'll be a hero, history is written by the victors. This finale is gonna be weird. How often do kid series end with the villain winning?
I would take serum over that POS mecha any day. In fact I was hoping for serum from the get. At least the spirit cannon gave me FFVII mako cannon vibes. /sighPlease no serum. :/

? The mechs were introduced in Book 1 tho.

I had completely forgotten about them in book 1, though now that I'm recalling I didn't much care for them then and was hoping that was the end of the technology-breaking.
Well I wasn't really thinking buff Kuvira so much as I was thinking an avatar-esque mode much like everyone thought was the case during The Battle of Zaofu.I dunno. Imagine what Bryke would have come up with, design wise for a Hulk Kuvira. Could have looked even worse.

Not of that size, and not really of that design.
I had completely forgotten about the EMP. I can see it now: Varric, Bataar Jr and maybe Asami go somewhere. Varric suggests the EMP rod, they start thinking about a large enough rod they could use for the sense of scale of the mech.

Not of that size, and not really of that design. But to be fair, Woofington was saying he had an issue with technology the entire time (going back to Book 1). I have mixed feelings on it, personally. I don't have an issue with it per se, in terms of the world moving forward. I think the idea of bending and tech co-existing is really interesting. I guess I just have found it sort of jarring, since so much of the show is based around Martial Arts. Having robots for fighting has always seemed kind of silly to me.
But at least with the old robots, they felt a bit more grounded.
Can Korra fly? if she can,she could use the Avatar State to go the head and stop KuviraSee that makes too much sense though and I doubt the victory they'd want is to have science win the day.
Another possibility is that they storm the mech all secret ops and try to take it out from the inside with Bataar Jr's info on what they need to do. Maybe there's a deathstar-like weakness of "don't bend in here" hole.
It's not like technology wasn't more advanced in AtLA than a comparable era in our own history. They had mechanized tanks and iron-clad destroyers and airships in what amounts to a feudal era. That's way before we had anything like them in our own history.

Yeah sure. But we are talking about robots that do hand to hand combat. That's not even something we have today.
