I agree, he has a lot of heft to him and all his paint is applied very well. Him, Fox and Kirby have the best paint jobs out of all the ones I currently have.

I think Yoshi's the worst - he has that ring around his snout and the paint is blotched or uneven in some spots.
 
I'm gonna sell my Marth, villager, and wii fit trainer. I planned on keeping them and collecting every figure. But with scalpers I'm done. If I come across ones that I want I'll purchase them. I don't have time to run around town and search for these anymore. Good luck to you guys trying to collect them all.

I will be keeping my holy trinity but I feel the same in general. I've preordered the characters I want online, but I'm not pre ordering the rares just cause. I had to stop caring for my (wallet's) sake.

Ended up selling my Marth, Villager and WFT to a bud for retail. I just don't like how they looked in my collection.

Just going to buy the ones I want instead of trying to collect them all. Kinda nice to not feel the pressure of getting them all. Sounds wierd I know...

Seriously, Nintendo, make more!

I've got to assume that they are making a bundle of money on these. But, I guess since i have been seeing full shelves of the non-rare figures, the big N must know what they are doing.

Basically, I'm pissed at myself for not buying the Villager when I had it in my hand.

That's what I'm doing. tbh I find a lot of the rares pretty ugly or ill-fitting at best. I do want rosalina (for daughter) and dedede though.
 
I sold two WFT's, and just sold a Villager. Made about $120 off of all 3, post shipping expenses. I imported a cheap Marth through ebay early on and plan on keeping him.

Right now I have Mario, Pikachu, Fox, and Samus unboxed and on display under my tv. I can't wait until Shulk finally joins them. :-D
 
Damn this thread moves fast.

Still waiting on Rosalina, Lucario and Shulk from wave 3 and Marth, WFT and villager from Wave 1 in Canada.

The thing is other than the first 3 rares I don't think they will go for that much except the retailer exclusives.

You can make a little off the rares but probably not that much.

It sucks because the ones I want are the ones likely to be rare and harder to get.

I think my bro hinted that he got me a Marth and Villager for Christmas since he bought 2 of each early on. He said he wanted to have 1 in box, and 1 out of box just for smash and display purposes. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up unboxing all my other ones as well. Just bought them recently so they've just been chillin' in their boxes.
 
Its more popular than Nintendo though, they've been caught into this now. Not enough production for all the shipping they would need am sure.

I just hope they won't be silly and stop making certain Amiibos alltogether since the demand is so high.

Yeah, I'll keep my guys, along with the Yoshi, Samus and Little Mac incoming. I've decided to just get the ones that I actually have some sentimental connection with from this point, like Sonic, Toon Link and Duck Hunt Dog/Duo, as opposed to the rest whose games I didn't really play. Otherwise, feels a little too much like when I was collecting comics in the early 90s but not reading/enjoying them. :)

All power to the collectors, though! (If I hadn't just been made redundant at work, I'd've considered keeping up with you all more!).
 
Those looking to get Marth, Wii Fit Trainer and/or Villager can still get them from Amazon Japan. All you have to do is register at Tenso (forwarder) and get your account verified (usually done within a day) and then order the amiibo at Amazon Japan.

Shipping 1 amiibo to the US:
~2000 yen for the figurine (Marth: ￥2080, WFT: ￥1740, Villager: ￥1980, others ~￥1113)
+
300 yen as service fee to Tenso
+
1500 yen shipping cost (EMS Express, 2-3 days, cheaper options also available)
=
~3800 yen = $32

2 amiibo
~3820 yen for 2 figurines
+
510 yen as service fee to Tenso
+
2010 yen shipping cost to the US (EMS Express, 2-3 days, cheaper options also available)
=
~6340 yen = $53

3 amiibo:
~5800 yen for three amiibo
+
540 yen as service fee to Tenso
+
2220 yen shipping costs to the US (EMS Express, 2-3 days, cheaper options also available)
=
~8560 yen = $72 for the trinity

I've used amazon + Tenso before and I really recommend them. They work very fast and get things out even in the weekend. Via this link you can calculate the service fee + shipping cost to any destination in the world yourself. You only have to enter the weight of the parcel (amiibo are ~180 gram each).

I'm in Europe where these three are still readily available so I have no idea if this is a good deal for US gaffers. But I've seen some ebay prices and compared to that this would be much cheaper.

edit: Should note that Marth/WFT/Villager are currently being sold by third party sellers instead of amazon.jp themselves, so if you order three from different suppliers, they will arrive in three seperate boxes at Tenso. It costs 500 yen to "merge" 2 boxes into one, and 800 yen for three boxes (+300 yen for every other box). These costs are not included in the calculation above. More info here.

I know it's silly, but it really bugs me that amiibos aren't properly scaled. I know it'd result in Pikachu and Kirby being a lot smaller, but they looks like giants compared to the humanoid figures.

Are we using Mario as the basis? If they scaled them properly then Kirby would be...

He'd be 7 mm tall.
 
I couldn't help myself and opened my Marth. Reselling it now seems nice to pay for a game or something but damn do I like collecting and the 7 I have sitting out all look nice.
 
I'm praying that I'll be able to find a Marth and Villager this week somewhere (I've heard rumors of a new shipment this week). That obviously could be bull or truth but who knows. Nintendo is definitely being shady with all this.

At least that means Olimar will be close to 1:1.
 
I just want to say that I received my Villager amiibo today, which completes my wave 1 set. Wave 2 has been paid for and shall be waiting for me when I come back from Japan next week :)

Best thing is that I paid the normal price for all of them (15 euros) and for some I even paid less than that (13 euros).

I'm a happy gamer! Now to wait for the ability to (pre)order wave 3, which isn't possible in Europe yet. Then again, we don't have character-specific exclusivity deals here, luckily.

Yeah look at Dedede, but it's the ONLY purchaseable figure of Dedede currently so I'll take it. Bowser is sculpted off the stand's edges but Dedede seems to fit entirely in there, so Dedede is undersized since he's supposed to be bigger.

EDIT: Disregard my post, I must be too drunk and was drunk when I first saw Dedede. He seems to be hanging near the edge so he's pretty big. I'm hyped as hell now since Dedede will be big enough.

Will just add that yeah they are not totally in scale. Fox seems a little beefier while Link/Zelda are really thin/small looking. DK is sculpted properly but he's small since he has to fit in the stand/base, while Diddy is bigger to fit on the stand. You won't have much scale with these.

The same will happen for Lucario, he's taller so they had to shrink him down to fit on the base while Pikachu is smaller so he had to be enlarged to fill more of the base.

I wasn't really bothered about getting all of these outside of the Zelda characters, but my girlfriend has pretty said shes got me Link, Mario and Donkey Kong for Christmas, now I want them all

We were in GAME yesterday and they had Zelda and Diddy Kong for sale early

Thanks for the heads up, Audioboxer - Just bagged myself a WFT and Marth. Now I'm deciding whether I want to go the distance and try and own all of the amiibos. So far I have only been buying characters I like (Link, Fox, Villager, Samus and Captain Falcon). I can see why the Toys-to-Life genre is such a money maker for both Activision and Disney.

Nintendo are probably pretty happy with the uptake on these figurines too.

Jeez and I thought Best Buy was giving me headaches. This is plain Unsatisfactory. These retailers need to be more responsible with preorders. If they aren't guaranteed the stock they shouldn't assume they are getting it. Now that others are sold out of preorder spots it puts you in a shit position. Sorry to hear op. If you have to switch to release day retail searching I wish you luck. Find a lazy store like my Target where you have to ask someone go in the back and get them. Yesterday at 330pm they still hadn't brought them out till I asked.
