You know what could make this better?

Bring back one aspect of DMC2: you can now fight multiple bosses at the same time in Bloody Palace.

This. They should add Boss Rush to 4 and do this. Have several "routes" that the player can choose. All human bosses, all demon bosses, multiple bosses, chronological, etc.

As someone who became a fan of DMC starting with DmC last year on PC, I don't know what to think now. I just started (as in, like two days ago) DMC4 after beating DMC3 for the first time, and I have to say that while the changes to DmC are nice, I really hope Capcom is not planning on continuing the reboot series. DmC isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people say it is, but it doesn't compare to the previous games in terms of combat depth.

I plan on getting DMC4SE day one to support the old series, I might check out DmC:Lock-on edition down the line, but I feel like it is too dangerous to support both at the same time. There's too likely a chance that Capcom will jump at any chance to continue the inferior reboot series.

With that said, I wouldn't mind DMC5 and DmC2. After all, DmC was my "gateway drug" to the classic series. But given the choice of one over the other, I choose DMC5. And the chances of Capcom being willing to keep two separate franchises are very low.

Best scenario--->Remaster and a couple of new mods with unlockable weapons for each one.Vergil's little side story a la DmC Downfall
Capcom scenario--->Remaster and Vergil skin for Dante

or the DMC3: Special Edition scenario for DMC4: Special Edition---> Unique Vergil character with unique movesets

Yah, they need to do this. I found DMC3/4's Bloody Palace lacking because of the lack of mixed bosses/enemies in the BP mode. Its one thing DMC2 did right.

Yup and don't forget to mention some very mediocre combat system, compared to the godlike DMC4 one.
Let's not get crazy here, NT outdid themselves with DmC and at times it looks super good. Also the changes they did for the upcoming version are all great, but it still can't hold a candle to DMC3 and 4.

I disagree. The depth of the combat system is definitely shallower than that of DMC3/4 and is only 'relatively' mediocre but the weapon synergy in DmC is arguably the best in the series.

DmC changes sound solid. Doesn't necessarily fix my biggest issues with the game (boss fights, characters, and too much platforming), but with the right options it could have the best encounters in the series. Does the mod for ignoring colors keep some sort of limitation?

I hope DMC4 comes with some sort of difficulty unlock or at least more changes / mod integration (that don't need to be unlock).

It's not shallower, it's actually very shallow, and nothing in DmC can be considered as the best in the series. Period.
As i said, they outdid themselves, i actually like it, but it can't hold a candle to 3 and 4.

I am glad that they aren't together, I would hate to have to pay for DmC DE when I have 0 desire to even play the PC version again let alone have a desire to buy the game again. Also I think the market that would appreciate both games at the same time is rather small.
