PS Blog:
Hello there, Prinny Pals! Jordan from NIS America here to deliver unto you news the likes of which you have never heard before! In fall 2015, PS4 will be the exclusive home of Nippon Ichi Software’s latest entry in the fan-favorite Disgaea series! Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance brings together a completely new cast of characters to tell a tale of rebellion and revenge.

As a new and terrible Overlord named Void Dark seeks to enslave the countless Netherworlds, one young demon has stood to end his reign — Killia. In Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, you will lead Killia and his tenacious army of rebels in their struggle against Dark Void. Along their dark path to vengeance, you will encounter more hilarious writing, over-the-top animations, and absurd damage numbers than anyone has seen in a Disgaea game. Ever.

If you’ve been thirsting for quirky characters, intense strategy, tumultuously tall towers of teammates, stat numbers, and gameplay hours that approach infinity (sort of), all in one game, well… you’ll have to wait until Fall 2015. But then, my young Prinnies, your thirst for vengeance — or Disgaea — will be quenched. Until then, bide your time; we’ll be back with more sweet, sweet details on your path to vengeance soon.

Gives me plenty of time to play Disgaea 3, the only one in the main series I've not played.

I hope Killia is at least as enjoyable a protagonist as Valvatorez was.

This game is dead on arrival at least in Japan and they'll probably throw localized version into crowded schedule too.

The audience for this series in the west isn't going to care what season it releases in. As soon as the pre-orders go live, they're in.

I actually never played any game past Disgaea 3 for some reason. I think I rented 4 when renting games was still a thing around here, but never got to play it. I think its about time I jumped back into the series. Might be with 5.

Hooray! This will be the first I will double dip on when the inevitable ultimate Vita edition comes. Here's hoping with a western release the studio will do over the 150k to stay afloat.

Still haven't checked out this series. What's a good one to start with?

4 on Vita is a decent choice. The cast isn't terrible (3 lol) and the Vita version has a bunch of quality-of-life features reverse-imported from Disgaea D2 (which is a game released later but canonically a direct sequel to the first Disgaea)

SARDINES! Troy knocked it out of the park with him.

Good good stuff.

Also, those thinking about a Vita version well...

The familiar grid-based strategy gameplay remains intact and NIS said everything from the past games will be a part of this entry. Instead of giving Disgaea a huge overhaul, NIS wants to go bigger with everything the series has to offer. You still can level to 9999, but you can also deal absurd levels of damage in the high millions. All the enemies and sub characters are also overlords along with the main cast. And playing into the story's theme of revenge, a new revenge mode, which increases your stats, can be activated during battle. Since you're playing as demons, you'll also have a demon ultimate skill that can be activated within revenge mode. NIS wasn't ready to share any specifics on these new features just yet, but did confirm that the PS4's extra power is lending it the ability to make battles so much grander. Now battles can include a 100 enemies on screen. This is a far cry from the 30 that were in previous games. Because of the extra power, it's almost impossible for the current Vita to support the game, so don't expect the game to hit Vita like the past main entries have. NIS isn't ruling it out, but doesn't think it would be possible on the current Vita. ]

Can't wait, should be fun.

Doesn't matter what has been said, it will come to Vita.

150k is an unrealistic figure for a game like this releasing in March/Fall.

I remember enjoying Disgaea 1 back in the days, but I never gave any of the others a chance. Maybe I should grab 3 and 4 for VITA. Or are the PS3 versions better?

4 Vita or D2 should be a nice place. D2 might be a direct sequel to the first one (kinda), but nothing really happens in the plot, so no reason to care

Thanks, guys. I don't have a Vita so is the PS3 version of D4 acceptable?

PS3 D4 is very, very serviceable. Like I said, there are just some quality-of-life features they added to the Vita version after learning how to cut down on e.g. a lot of unnecessary menu navigation when grinding out endgame, etc. with D-D2

Been humming and hawing over buying D4 or Dangan Ranpa for Vita as my Holidays game.

Which is better? Are they vastly different games?

Yes! So excited for it.
I really love Disgaea 4.

Yes to question 2. Disgaea 4 is a strategy RPG and DR is a visual novel with Persona esque character interaction.
Both are great games!

I played and loved disgaea 1, but have never had the chance to play any other. (I don't own a PlayStation 3, or Xbox 360 for that matter.) How are they in quality compared to number one? (which I consider to be a legendary classic)

I bought a PS 4 so I am looking forward to D5.

Mechanically wise, far better. Monsters are actually worth having, for example (Even though it's only support for humanoid ones).

Plot wise, not as good. But definitely not bad (Even though it can have some annoying characters).

Hm hope it doesn't get released between a bulk of games.
Would have bought the Japanese Version if they wouldn't have put Bloodborne right on there.
Well definitely Day1 for the West Version.Need to support them.

Please, everyone buy this game. Disgaea is my number one most loved, played and anticipated series, and even if NIS burning down makes me sad, the chance of losing Disgaea makes me spit up blood.

God, I'm going to buy the shit out of this.

Also, I'd say D4 vita having a literal army of DLC characters make endgame real fun. Not sure if generics only would be as nice but I like mixing and matching. The choice is appreciated though.

I reckon October 2015, hopefully not much later for the sake of its sales. Anyway so many PS4 games coming next year I can't keep up anymoe.

Majorly hyped. Gotta save NIS.[/QUOTE]

not sure why you have to save a company that is in absolutely no need of saving.
That was a mistranslation and Nis is in no danger of collapse even if the game doesn't sell at all.

that being said I will be there day 1 with my $65-$75 limited edition that I will preorder from the NisA store even though I could have gotten it cheaper from best buy :P

Disgaea 1 then go directly to Disgaea D2 when NIS finally makes a portable port of that.

Every other cast from Disgaea 2/3/4 pale in comparison to Laharl and company, IMO.
