Every preorder I've ever made with Best Buy for in store pick up has ended much the same way. I either have to go pull the product from the shelf myself or they've sold out. They do not set aside merchandise that's been preordered online, ever.

There are a multitude of reasons:
1) Stock is flat out not available online for some characters.
2) New stock is being put in stores daily but it isn't matching up with the online orders.
3) Paint jobs and other figure features are inconsistent figure to figure. You can go pick out your best one.
4) Plenty of stories from EVERY retailer at this point have occured where someone has ordered one figure online and received the wrong one. People in this very thread have had that happen.
Frankly, ordering online in some cases is just untrustworthy when it comes to the Amiibos. On rarer figures it might be the only option but it is still the best idea to go in person.
I got that email for about 5 of my wave 3 amiibos this morning.

I actually got a WFT and Marth by just going to the store and checking despite the website saying it was out of stock at Target a few weeks ago. Never hurts to check
apparently not.
and Shipwreck told me that guy is holding a Diddy that he was gonna help me get. oh well, not a huge loss since my TRU orders shipped I just pray they don't ship me more Donkeys....

I wish people set a rule here for people claimed that they got new Amiibo should stats their country and store to make it way easier and less misunderstanding for all of us. People kept asking where people got their. Please post your country and store to make it easier for all of us.
Since Japan and Europe got their full wave 2 Amiibo but US didn't. Some people would make assumption that we were talking about release in USA.

I know I am said this before in this thread, but ordering online has been a hit or miss for me.
Toys R Us sent me the Zelda amiibo no problem.
Amazon sent me Link instead of Marth.

"Lucky for you that because of the memo, we had a managers' meeting and conference call. Now, I can only speak for my region, but some stores have decided that Wednesday was too random a date and not quite fair for kids in school, namely teenagers. Those stores said they will stock over the weekend. Namely Friday or Saturday. The others were debating about that, but no consensus was made. At my store, however, we were full o' angels and racers this morning."
Now either this guy is full of it or there is ONE mysterious, magical rainbow TRU store that has Falcons and Pits in ALL the United States...

Ugh... This does not make me feel at all confident about the email I got this morning. It *says* my Little Mac will be ready for pickup tomorrow. If I get there and Mac isn't, shit's going down.

I just find it hard to believe that one toys r us out of all of them can make a decision like that. And if so, more Toys R Us would have had stock. Too bad we can't send someone to corroborate.

I just got my Best Buy email for Little Mac, too. I already bought one at Fred Meyer last week, but I figure I might as well go get my preorder. I can either keep it sealed or sell it off to someone who needs it.
I'm cautiously optimistic about it being available. My local Best Buy has ALWAYS held the item back for me, behind the customer service desk, when I buy something for local pickup.

Yeah it's been like that. Not for shipping, and no stores around have them.
Gonna vote for "full of it"...what manager decides to change the date to be "fair" to teenagers- when you're still going to have scalpers and the like showing up at 7 AM ready to buy all of your product? What does a day change?
So, I completely broke down and got into Amiibos & dragged my friends down with me.
Tomorrow me, my roommate & my best friend are going to hit San Antonio hunting for amiibos. Not even anything specific, we're just going to visit every gaming related store we possibly can (malls, mom & pop shops, targets, gamestops, best buys, etc.) and see what we can find.
If we find anything good like Marths, Villagers, WFT's, or anything else deemed "very rare/omfg how did you find that?" I'll post the store / street for my fellow TX amiibros.
Also, in regards to the "discontinued forever" to further allay fears: I talked to someone who worked in electronics at my local walmart, and he said that they've had all amiibos ordered for a while, they're just getting shipments incredibly slowly. Our walmart is completely ransacked, they had 5 donkey kongs, 4 peaches, and 1 Pikachu. Not even mario or kirby, which is how hard up they are for more shipments, so there may be hope in a post-holiday season for the "gone forever" figures to return.

Haha yeah I agree, I just want to believe. Any TRU employees here who can at least confirm or deny his story about a regional memo from corporate reading that "no TRU members should abuse their powers to middleman rare toys between the retail and public, especially during the holiday season."?
I was able to pull him up on the TRU app just fine, and he was available for pre-order to ship to home.

No, it was USA. He was there this morning, must have sold out again. As you say, he is now again gone. I'm not sure how long he was up but I wanna guess maybe a few hours. It was there when I got to work at 6 EST, and then was still up a couple hours later. Not sure how long he was up before 6.

I'm not sure of their process but it's the same thing that happened 2-3 days ago when they went up and I got my pre-order in. Pit disappeared until coming up again today. Falcon/etc are still there just sold out, etc.
As far as Little Mac, he and Diddy have been up and down every few hours for the last few days. You gotta keep watching it because they will just randomly pop up and then be gone within a handful of minutes if you're not ready. I'm fairly sure scalpers/watchers have things informing them when it comes back up and they dive in immediately.
Even though I have both, I'm still refreshing the page to inform other gaffers, but also because I think sometime Captain Falcon is just going to unexpectedly come in. Lucario might as well, but I have a gut feeling Falcon is going to pop up and be there for a bit and then be gone as fast as he came up.

I was able to pickup Little Mac at Target last Friday, and only bought one of the 3 that they had.

Real quick as a heads up to anyone in the USA (because I just learned it):
If you order something from Toys R Us on their website and they give you a UPS tracking that doesn't work, they actually made a typo. They are shipping through USPS, not UPS. I had this happen and when I put the numbers into the US Post Office website they were a valid tracking number.

I personally find it fun - and also frustrating of course - trying to track down the missing amiibos that you want for your collection.
Not sure. I wonder if retail space is as competitive in EU than it is in NA. I'm guessing it is easier to get every amiibo on shelf space by having exclusivity deals with retailers. That is why I expect more for later waves.

Depending upon the package, where it ships from, size and such the UPS uses UPS mail innovations which is a joint venture between them and USPS.
