Sold my old car and got a gun as part of the deal. What now?

I was gonna suggest you report this "certified safety instructor" to the NRA, but they'd probably give him a commendation for spreading freedom.

Because it was a good deal. I was already thinking about getting a gun for self defense before so I just agreed

instead of getting the straight $500 you got $500 worth of something you don't know what to do with, am I missing something?

you now need to spend more money on getting a cabinet and training

Glock? Get ready for that shit to explode.

If you live in Dade county I'm pretty sure there's all types of shenanigans waiting to happen for a gun owner.

Enjoy your freedom dude. Shoot the commies.

(go to a police station and ask them, maybe they used the gun during a crime...)

Many people here are not going to understand or agree with you in regards to gun ownership so since you wanted it, just make sure you keep it somewhere safe in the house. Decent gun safes are cheap on amazon and before you decide to carry it around, make sure you took a course. I have plenty of gun nut buddies and sometimes it's scary how they handle these deadly weapons.

It wouldve been a great deal even without the gun. I understand getting a training but why would I need a cabinet?

"I need a gun to defend myself from other people with guns who need them to defend themselves from other people with guns."

Fuck guns foreverrrrrrrrrr *flies off into space*

OMG you're going to kill someone.

"I need a gun to defend myself from other people with guns who need them to defend themselves from other people with guns."
The mind blowing thing to me is that he isn't even that enthusiastic about it.

It's like, "Eh, why not have this thing capable of causing great bodily harm/death lying around? Kinda thought about getting one at some point anyway. For self defense or something."

There are virtually infinite scenarios in which someone like that having a gun turns bad, and only a few in which it turns good.

how would it have been a good deal without the gun? you'd have been $500 short of what you asked for

and the cabinet is so that you can keep the gun locked up and not on the passenger seat of your car

I live in Florida. No idea what a FFL is

It's a firearms license. The Federal Gov't wants you to register your weapon so that when someone uses said gun on another person, they can trace it back to the owner.

If the serial number is filed off, then you just bought an illegal weapon. Congrats, the cops will now think you intend to hurt someone.

You didn't think it was weird that the buyer was so quick to throw a gun into the trade?

Edit: Ah makes sense

To everyone saying the gun was stolen or that the guy shot someone with it: the guy is a gun instructor and the weapon is brand new and unfired. As part of the deal I met with him at his office afterwards because he issued me a license to carry the gun in public. Should have taken a course but I got it just like that haha. I would never carry it in public though.
Here is the paperwork and the gun, apparently the gun has a $500 value

You don't find that abnormal?

Because the asking price was already high to have a negotiation base. I wouldve settled for $1000 less. Instead I got it for $500 less and a $500 value gun. Maybe I should just sell the gun though I dont know

In all seriousness OP: You don't need a gun.

Sell that shit or trade it for toys or whatever you can do. If your attitude toward guns is one of such ambivalence that you don't actually know what to do with it now that you have it then you should probably just get rid of it.

Guns aren't toys.

Good deal bro!
Gun classes are a rip off.
Just go to the woods or find a nice river bottom. Then line up some glass bottles.
Wish we could buy guns like that in Germany (many dangerous Muslims here)

Go looking for gold and if you find anything even mildly shiny fire it into the air and yell "I'm rich!" while hopping from foot to foot.

If you didn't want the gun, sell the gun.

If you're not sure if you want the gun, sell the gun.

If you think you wanted the gun but aren't going to learn how to use it and buy storage with a lock to keep it in, sell the gun.

If you want the gun, are going to go learn how to use it properly, and will take responsibility to make sure it is stored properly, then keep it.

Guns aren't toys. I've grown up shooting guns and am comfortable around them, but if you are not, and don't want to be, don't force yourself. And whatever you do, if you keep it, keep it locked up so that it can't be easily accessed by family or thieves.

If you don't intend to target shoot, can reasonably afford to live in a secure area that doesn't require a self-defense weapon, and don't intend to take up hunting or sheet shooting as future hobbies, just sell the gun and take the cash. Guns are expensive to maintain and pistols are terrible home defense weapons.

IMO, you were hosed on the deal.

As a Florida gun owner I'll give a rundown of laws.

You need a permit to carry that gun concealed.

You can transport it to and from your house or to a gun range.

When carrying your gun in your car it must not be loaded. Keep the ammo separate

Go here and for more information on gun laws, also has the contact numbers to get a concealed carry permit

Edit-PM Me if your in south west florida. I'll take you to a few ranges to shoot.

There has to be more to it than that. You're messing with us.
