My PS4 uses Wifi.
It's not loading. It's stuck on "Connecting to Dragon Age servers" screen.
I still can't believe this crap continues... I mean I know its Christmas and all but come on its like Sony isn't even trying to communicate either... I mean put a message up on the blog or something
I thought both MS and Sony acknowledge the outages that intermittently started yesterday and said they were working on it. To be honest, I don't know how much any of them can do

I'm on Xbox one though so it just warns me that I am not connected to the servers and then let's me play. I would assume it does the same on ps4.

I gotta say that i like Sony, but I couldn't apologize for them really for some aspects of their Sony Pictures breach, they we weak target. But i also believe all targets can be brought down, and so everything should be fricking encrypted and follow best IT practices with personal data.. So I am partly sympathetic that, like bugs in software, not every thing can be anticipated.
So in the same way, I think that its too bad MS and Sony networks are being attacked, but I am not really upset. Its just too bad many can play Destiny today, or use other games online components, it shows that these systems are not too redundant, always online has downsides.
Lizard squad are bunch of jerks i guess but i don't want them to have really harsh penalties either, not like the ether i see in here.

Disable all your interwebz. Think of it as putting your PS4 on airplane mode as to prevent the radios from trying to search for a connection.
Prison time and a hefty fine sounds about right to me.
I mean if its nothing more than a ddos attack then I guess not but... still there should be someway of preventing this it happens to frequently and its announced no less...

I can't log in on PS4 but I'm able to on PS3.

I thought I read quite sometime ago courts ruled ddos as nothing more or less than equivalent of a protest?

That's not even the worst of it, IMO, when rival groups are almost made into 'good guys' for claiming to interfere with the 'bad guys'. They all seem to be the same people, just playing one side or another while getting their way all around. What an annoying situation to think will be the norm going forward... At least XBL seems to have been mostly up for the last few hours, thank goodness for something working on the online console side.

Nah the loading circle was spinning forever. I disabled my internet connection from settings and it worked.

PSN although a bit sluggish in Japan when I bought some games at work.
PS3 was fine last night for grabbing those downloads.
Haven't tried PS4 yet, but will tonight - have a feeling Japan will have connectivity, but will be interesting to see if that's the case.

not only that, once people realize these guys are getting rewarded more dickheads will want to do it.
First of all, I'm locked out of Single player too because for some reason I don't have my PS4 as my primary system or something. Fine, I'll chalk that up to my fault, but I can't even change my primary because they've crippled EVERYTHING.
I just don't understand your attitude. What they're doing is serious. They deserve real punishment for the money they're costing both companies money as well as locking us out of our property.
I mean, they definitely deserve time in jail. What example does it set if they prove not only how easy it is to damage these networks, but also that there is little punishment for doing so?
As long as they can force enough traffic then a DDoS will be possible. The best course of action (besides catching these guys) would be to expand and build their network to really robust proportions so that they can handle incredibly extreme levels of traffic. Hopefully they are working on that but I doubt its something they can do so quickly.

The X1 AC bundle was all digital,not sure about the PS4 bundles though. Luckily I managed to get the mandatory update installed and my disc copy of Sunset installed before the servers went down. It sucks that there were probably way more people that weren't ever able to get that far and are stuck waiting until things go back to normal.

Some folks don't realize that if you turn off the wifi or unplug the Ethernet, it will stop trying to connect to EA servers.
There is no reasoning, only the lulz.
I understand that but seriously I mean ddos has been a thing for a long time... You think there should be a way to reroute traffic and packets at the router levels at this point.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Its a tough problem to take care of. Definitely frustrating to say the very least (I say that as a consumer, I'm sure its also frustrating to deal with for these companies :/ ). But we certainly do need to find a way to deal with ddos

fame plus rewards will bring a whole new wave of ddosers into the mix. Cloud gaming will never really be able to take off with ddosin being so effective and hard to combat.
