Just disconnect your ps4 from Internet. It works. I have been playing the last 2 days no problems (other than not syncing trophies)

They're not quiet about it. Microsoft updated their service status and Sony posted on Twitter about it. What else can you do in a DDoS attack?

I think enough of their personal info is out there to mount a case. It's just not as easy as knocking a door and that's game over.

Disconnect the ethernet cable, or wireless connection.
If it's your first time playing though that game has had some pretty big patches. I wouldn't play it unpatched.

If there is one thing I've learned as I've gotten older, it's that you should waste time and energy on things you can't control. This is a good example of it. There really isn't anything we can do at the moment but wait for these kids to get bored and move on.
Crime stats then versus now say otherwise. But sure. Nostolgia for a fictional past always feels truthier than real history and fact.
I think the bigger issuer here is internet supervision. Many adults have no idea of the dangers and possibilities themselves, and thus have no idea how much crap their kids can do and get into online. Same type of parents that call all game consoles "the Xbox" or "the PlayStation".
The first internet generation is just starting to have kids, and web 2.0 gen having spawn is a ways off.

be more so worried about copy cats trying to earn a name and free compensation for screwing stuff up. If there ends up being lots of other inspired groups like Lizard Squad targeting PSN and XBL then online console gaming as we once knew it will forever be changed. Imagine having to deal with stuff like this several times a week.

I want confirmation that this is DDOS, or wast this a full blown hack and ms/ Sony shut off the service to prevent further damage?

People were on PSN and xbl all day yesterday. It was logging in that was the trouble.

GAF IS BIGGER THAN THOSE FUCKS! Not really..
I don't think it's reasonable to expect a lack of attention to this issue given the million of people, many of whom are children at Christmas time, who are victims of this attacks
And anyway, a 69 page thread on GAF is pretty much meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
My son can't even play FIFA offline because ultimate team needs to connect to check stuff. Plenty of non onlne multiplayer games still have online requirements
