They should add a 3 day insurance policy. This gives Sony or even Microsoft 3 days of unexpected problems that might keep the user from using the service. Would you do it if they gave an incentive? Like more Free games?

LBP3's issue would be getting all the costumes and shit that I bought from the last 2 games. My OCD probably wouldnt allow me to play without them lol. It wasn't a knock on the game...I am just saying I'm fortunate have not been put in that position.

It is a known fact, there are more ps4's then xboxs. and last time sony released PSn accounts they were way higher then live, and that was before x1 and ps4 released. Who said it was an excuse? it is a fact......Oh right console wars. What a shitty post regardless. Sony also has more platforms then MS using there service.

It's not blame it's a fact. They were both down from the same attack and now live is back up, it's been up all day, for me anyway. Why are you so defensive?

After seeing what the news (Germany in this case) made out of this thing I couldn't blame him for thinking that. :P
They were reporting of a "hacker group" called "Lizard Attack" and basically made it look like the consoles themselves didn't work at all.

So because they both suffered from the same attack despite them both having completely different infrastructures and millions of users your logic tells you to throw everything else out the window and expect them to both magically come back online at the same time? You're being unreasonable.

If it was posted somewhere other than LizardMafia, I'm guessing it's either one of the many troll accounts trying to cause a riot of people connecting to get free stuff, or LS themselves using a fake account to instigate some trouble.

I didn't see the need to point out that XBL is up and PSN isn't. I'm pretty sure people are already aware of this as it has been posted numerous times. Also his comment sterred more towards the " Microsoft is better because Live is already back active" hence the "Not a good look ATM Sony. It's great that Microsoft solved their issue but they weren't immune to it.

PSN's server infrastructure includes redundancy, backups, and third-party DDoS mitigation. But none of that mattered due to the sheer size of the attack. There is no "back up server" for this kind of scenario. What we'd need is a back up internet, and entirely separate Internet 2.0 where DDoS attacks can't happen. But that doesn't exist.

EDIT: Knock it off with the console wars people, geeze.

I'm not defensive in the least. I want to know why there's an expectation that both services should be back up at the same time while tossing other factors out the window? Look you like MS and hey that's great I have both consoles I enjoy both so turning this into a pissing contest helps nobody. It's simply unrealistic to expect Sony and MS to have both services up simultaneously that's the point I'm trying to make.

this isn't "just games". it's as legitimate a business as any other. there are thousands of people who are employed by these companies, they are most likely bigger than the companies we work for even. so yeah, these immature gargoyles are going to get in trouble. they are asking for it.

hey guys, both services are supposed to come up the same time, if not one is garbage while the other one is not.....Friggin console wars coming into DDOS attack.

Sony's network has more platforms and users on it globally then live, which complicates things.
 
dammit its still down. Was hoping to play some Minecraft and little big planet with my nephews since they don't come around very often. This is infuriatingly annoying. Haven't even been able to touch Alien thanks to this.
 
What is indeed a shame about all this is that there were plenty of new people ready to have their first online experience with a new console they got from the Holiday season so they could play with friends, family members and so on. It's a shame that those who work hard and need to take care of their relatives while doing so much more, had a little time off from all the obligations only to find they can't play their favourite game online. I just hope all this to be solved as fast as possible, violence-free, hate-free. Nobody wins from being hateful and negative or wishing others harm. I hope they can find the responsible people for this act and I hope they are brought to justice.

Meanwhile, for those who put aside some free time to play with your friends and family members, I feel you, I love this hobby as well and wouldn't mind to be downloading some games from the latest sale or updating some already owned games so I can play with the best updated versions of it.
