LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

Same happened with the last big ddos attack nothing came of that. Also as people pointed out they have been posting updates.

Also the free game thing is likely BS especially with the attention seeking following nonesense attached to it.

This has reached the mainstream news, Sony will have to bow down again and offer games and more, many families spend probably 600 dollars xmas towards new PS4 games & accessories

I been playing Destiny all day long, managed to log in 15 hours ago and been online playing all day and night. However got kicked out now, and cant get back in :(

Just tried and I still can't log into PSN from the PlayStation app.. I can see my PS4 is "Powered On" in the app and can't even connect with it. The free game tweet is BS as I don't think there is any way to even log into the PSN store to begin with...

Yup, that's how it works.

If you're lucky enough to get in then it's fine, but once you're out you're fighting with millions of other false traffic that the network is attempting to filter out.

With all the progress that's happened in getting children to learn programming in the past year or so, what are the ramifications of these attacks constantly taking place these days? The whole issue surrounding The Interview, the attacks by Lizard Squad (and Lulzsec before them). Hell, League of Legends gets DDoS'd almost once a month!

I know the question may be blowing things out of proportion but I'm genuinely curious. I would assume it makes computer savvy seem "dangerous" like the whole hackers/progammers being anti-social emos back in the naughties.

Does the Dutch store show "Gratis" when an item is free? If not, its fake.

Also never heard the word "Gratis" being used in english, at least in the US. (unless you speak spanish here lol which I do speak both)

It does show "Gratis" when something is free yes.

Interesting :

The easier game network to take down was Microsoft’s Xbox Live. Sony had apparently upgraded its security recently, which took “a bit of time to work around,” but Microsoft had “almost nothing” in terms of security.

This is the fifth or sixth time this article has been referenced here. I would take anything in it with a grain of salt, since not only does it contradict what LS themselves have said on Twitter at the time - something along the lines of "Wow MS, you got some good security, hats off", it's also likely a bunch of lies meant to incite angst in the console warrior base. Their "oh, we just want companies to admit they're not paying enough to protect against us" reeks of insincere lulworthy justification.

Vita PSN says Iam signed in. But when accessing messaging it says cant refresh. Trying to go PSN store it says I need to login.

PSN has been down nearly 48 hours and we havent heard shit from Sony since it first happened.

Almost exactly the events of the 2010 hack all over again.

I wonder if the network was actually compromised.....

Sonys lack of communication here is worrying
i connected to PSN about 1 hour ago, i also connected to it yesterday and earlier today. PSN overall has not been down for 48 hours, its not like the 2010 stuff.

Oh hey look, this troll and Sony basher has jumped in.

Well known for shitting up threads.

To be fair I don't really use twitter or follow their account so yeah.
Also that doesn't really say much other than they're working on fixing it.

But at least they are trying to fix it.
It's pretty silly to say that you haven't heard anything from them considering you're not keeping up with what is arguably their most used public communication channel.

I assume we'll get more information (not necessarily direct from PS Twitter but maybe from employees, interviews etc) after everything's working again. I imagine they're hesitant to give an ETA because if they miss that people would probably get even more annoyed.

So, this has probably already been discussed multiple times in this huge-ass thread:

Is there currently any good evidence that the current problems are due to "hackers" at all? It's not rocket science to wait for the inevitable service problems over christmas and then just pretend to have something to do with it. That could've been their "act" in the past as well.

Microsoft had “almost nothing” in terms of security? LOL! That's a good one. Obviously this business insider website has no idea what the hell they're talking about.

I have not been able to get online for almost 24 hours.

Its down for many.

Saying "down" is wrong.

PSN is up, people are logged in, it's simply the process of getting into it is impossible because of this

XBL and PS+ are experiencing issues on this wide of a scale, I highly doubt this is the cause of the networks being unable to cope with new systems in the network. We would have seen this issue pop up on black friday if that was the case.

The Dutch store does use the term gratis when an item is free.
And yes I wouldn't claim gratis is commonly used in English, but it still is nevertheless an English term too. English PSN stores however don't use the term gratis obviously.

It does look like the real thing, the Dutch store does say Gratis, Volledige Game (full game), Dynamisch Thema and that sort of thing.

But its most certainly a mock up.
