LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

Do you have a link to that article?

That's the best I can do an iPad. This was the quote from the article I was referring to though. "Jensen's announcement was an about-face compared to Sony's previous messages since the ordeal began -- mostly tweets that were sparse, vague and almost always ended with 'thank you for your continued patience."
For the record they now have an article on their front page with the headline'Playstation is back online'.

Wait, you need to change your MTU size to connect to PSN with a PS4? Most of the gamers don't even know what the MTU size is. Sony really need to make their OS/network connection more consumer friendly/easy to use.

No, you don't. I didn't change anything and it works perfectly fine.

And it most certainly is not for many of us. It's actually regressed from last night for me.

Someone (boredandlazy) mentioned earlier in this thread that maybe Sony is putting stuff in place, trying to prevent similar things to happen again. I think that sounds very plausible, and i hope that its true. It sounds crazy to me that it would take about 3 days to simply reboot/restore the service at least.

This. The damage has largely been done, I would take the opportunity to 'fix' their holes now, and just keep everyone offline. Damage count has tapered off and they're going to have to clean this mess regardless. However it's not like they can just come up with a defense plan in a week. This is an internet issue, as stated before, not simply a Sony issue.

Aaaaaaaaaand nevermind. They're obviously scrambling like a bunch of headless chickens

Well maybe it's taking its time to reach you. Doesn't mean it's not exactly the online, maybe it really is just taking a few more people to get online later than others. Everyone obviously isn't going to come back online at the same exact time.

Made some progress. PS4 for christmas, stuck on please wait... until today. Now it welcomes my PS3 account, I set my privacy settings..

then timed out -,- pls hurry sony

I hate xmas term for digital users, everything is slow. All networks, sometime down for overdue.

People got voucher and all redeem and many of them downloading 20GB+ files at the same time.

Imagine that 10,000 users x 20Gb that 200Tb request data. Crazy for one thing of many!

Was able to log in on PS4 last night. Can't log in this morning. Seriously Sony. Get this shit together. If this keeps up tonight. Definitely looking into an Xbox One

I'm quite sure after the NK hack Sony isn't taking and chances and combing their network with a fine tooth comb to be sure no data breach occurred before, during or after the attack. Then slowly bringing clusters back online one at a time. At least that's my guess. I can't see them just flipping a switch after a DDOS right after a hack and saying "everything is cool, folks". I'm sure they are putting their data under scrutiny.

Sucks but I'd rather them take their time making sure than not.

That would be great when all is said and done. But yeah, it has still crossed over into ridiculous territory now.

Yeah, hopefully the end result will be that this DDOS attacks are less likely to happen (or at least less likely to succeed). Hopefully everything will be up and working as soon as possible.

I'm not even trying to get on. I have work etc. I come to GAF to keep updated on the news as it relates to gaming. I'm not looking for an apology. I just think we should expect more from these companies. Not just Sony but all companies that are involved in a hack or breach. Sony should have learned this lesson by now. Transparency should be key. I remember how exciting Christmas was growing up. I remember getting that SNES and playing all day with my brother and Dad. You've got a bunch of kids and parents that aren't on GAF wondering for days why their PS4 isn't working. It's not right.

Thanks for the link. I think that Sony said in one of their blog entries that it wasnt anything wrong with the PS4s. They also posted on Twitter. I think the biggest problem is that many people (thinking mostly of those outside of NeoGAF) didnt go in there and read it. And also that the different news outlet might not report on everything that has been said by the companies. What do you think that they could do differently? Honest question.

The sad thing is that the next attack will come.

And I see the exact sceanario for XBL und PSN downtime happening again.

I disagree on the external source. Attacks stopped days ago.
Its logical that the PSN is down when is getting attacked. But its not when the attacks stopped 3 days ago and yet the network isnt working as it should.

If phone wont work for 3 days, I would do the same. Complain. And Im in my goddamn right to do, because Im paying.

If your phone doesn't work for 3 days, you can complain, you'll likely get nothing because no service gurantees 100% up time.

No you don't, people are just doing that on their own. I have been able to get online since yesterday. I am on right now on my ps4.

For what it's worth, I wasn't able to sign in to my brand new PS4 last night or this morning. I changed my MTU to 1473 and was able to log in. Then I changed it back to automatic and started downloading stuff and updating my games. My Vita on the other hand hasn't had any problems.

Say what you want, but the MTU trick works.

Haven't had any problems in the last days at all. We were also playing a few hours Titanfall last night without any problems at all.

Maybe it's a regional thing?

I was playing destiny all night on ps4 yesterday and all my friend list were online. That doesn't mean anything.

Clearly MS has way more experience and resources when it comes to running servers since that is a major part of their business. But saying live is not having problems is hilarious. Both networks crash to shit come Christmas time with or without hacking.

The only way I can get in with a working party and friends list is, settings/psn/sign out/turn off ps4(no rest mode)/turn ps4 on/sign in until it lets you.

I'm right in the mid west USA and I STILL cannot connect to PSN on my PS4. My PS3, PS app, and sonyentertainmentnetwork.com all connects, but trying on my PS4 just gives me a network connection lost. #WakeUpSony

New York / Long Island area
on all day, no problems so far. My friends list has the usual 50 people online at a given time, things seem normal to me

haven't messed with any of this MTU stuff, but I've been connected since last night on PSN with the ps4 with a good chunk of my friends list being online as well.

I wouldn't bother changing any of the settings, personally

I just went online and all is fine, BUT it says my subscription has ended, which im pretty sure it shouldnt end, it was bound to end in january im pretty certain (around the 2nd or 3rd because thats my brothers birthday, and thats when I renewed).

Also, I had Hotline Miami (which was free on PS+) and It was the only PS+ game that didnt expire, the rest did expire.

This thing is so weird, I heard about another case of a guy who redeemed a PS+ 15 days on the 25th, and it ended on the 27th (just like mine).

This MUT thing really works ; I've managed to play destiny with MUT 1473, tried to come back with normal MUT (1500) it still not possible to start the game.

I've changed again to 1473 and I am back in !
