Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

I don't know if I ever played a DLC Halo 4 map in matchmaking (not counting the maybe 2 week long dedicated playlist) or customs outside of Forge World stuff. I usually buy all the Halo map packs but I'm reluctant to do so now after the waste of $$ on the Halo 4 season pass.

I would rather pay for armour, armour skins, weapon skins and keep the map packs free.

I'm interested in the Crossfire mode. People refer to it as "Halo's Search and Destroy mode", but that's not really fitting, because there's also an objective in "Search and Destroy".

I like 1 life per round gametypes, because you will have to communicate more on a higher level.

Is this the thread to go to for meeting my fellow Halo brothers?

We also have a community thread for anything Halo related: HaloGAF

You're complaining about not getting something for free?
It would seem as though that is exactly what I am doing.

If non mcc owners can play it that would make me hate mcc more.

Yeah Im ready now, just had to stop myself posting a gushing reminder thread.

Do it, do it now!!!

This game warrants the gushing reminders... I am a bit pissed if I am honest. Tomorrow I'm going to be in the UK visiting my family until Saturday. So no halo 5 for me until Sunday.

Its gonna be a long week

Anyone else worried that three weeks of halo 5 is going to kill the MCC for them?

The two day trial began lining up the nails, I think that three weeks will shut the coffin for good.

Am I the only one?

I'm not worried in the least, since I'd rather play broken classic halo than working call of halo.

I finally got into a game on the MCC and whilst it felt pretty good, it was definitely missing something. It just felt slow.

Anyone know how to pre-download the beta?

I still have the beta file in my Game and Apps from December 19th. Not sure if there was an auto update, any way I can be sure?

There should be a little star in the top right corner of the icon in your games and apps. If it's not there, just start up the game, it should start downloading.

The small green star was there, on the top right corner of the Beta file...but I'm checking now and it's not appearing. I'm guessing going into the app or game makes the notification to disappear?

When I go to manage game/app settings, the file still only shows as 10.2gb, which is the same as when I downloaded it.

I don't know if this is new thread worthy, but select Best Buy locations will be allowing gamers ages 17+ to play the Halo 5 Guardians beta on December 29 and January 3 from 3pm - 7pm local time.

Is that why it said my MCC was at 94%? Totally makes sense now.

I actually don't know about that; I've got the separate app from the preview beta.

Hmm. I'm seeing the same thing, but I know I downloaded the update (and the little star goes away when you boot up the app).

I think they've moved to an "install-and-delete" model for patches, which would explain why the MCC isn't taking up 100+ gigs of space. It alters/replaces the relevant game files, then gets rid of itself. So 10.2 gigs is about right.

3 days of the beta killed my enthusiasm and desire to play the MCC. Seriously I can't go back, it was like trying to play BF4 after playing the Titanfall beta.
