That infamous part of Bravely Default could win its own award of Biggest Overreaction of the Year. The game has sliders for both difficulty and random encounters. Just turn the encounters off and walk to the bosses. It's tedious, but people saying it ruins the whole game are nuts, since you can power through it in like 2-3 hours. Plus from a story perspective, it's kind of neat.
Shitbot was robbed.I don't know any of their best character nominees. In terms of story-based games this has been a somewhat meager year. I think I'd give it to Merrick from Broken Age or ARID and the mainframe from The Fall.
The only highway robbery is giving Best Debut to a game based on a multiple-times-exploited brand, with a combat system lifted entirely from another franchise, and from a developer that has been around for 20 years. What kind of category is this? How does Shovel Knight not win this? The word debut has lost all meaning.

Haha, I think in this case it's fine.![]()
Oh man you're gonna have fun when they'll pick the overall GOTY.
It's definitely gettin' hot in here:Holy shit when Brad starts singing. I know about Brad's karaoke infamy, but still. Damn!
It's only been 6 years man, he ain't solid snake.amazing how Jeff looks the same today![]()
Call of Duty? :/
Shadow of Mordor seems like the frontrunner for GOTY. It's just about the only game that every member of the staff has played and liked.
Listening to the podcast, the Best Exclusives category is even dumber than I thought.

Only people that would be willing to fight for it are Patrick and Alex and Alex holds literally no sway over GOTY discussions. Patrick will sell it out if they offer him Alien: Isolation in the top ten in a heartbeat.Bayonetta 2 is the only other game that everyone seems to have played and enjoyed but I don't see it competing with Mordor.

Vivienne isn't in Dragon Age 2....?
