I sure hope Brad's "Smash is boring" criticism can somehow be turned around and used against his DotA 2 addiction.
Dota 2 is the most exciting game ever made, sir. You should choose Destiny.

I think the contention comes from hearing the arguments being made in the podcasts and how flimsy, contradictory or just plain bad they are. Like Jeff complaining about how chaotic smash is the only time its good and then criticizing it for being chaotic.

I think there's just too many people involved this year.the hyperbole is kinda grating on these podcasts. I understand that they have to convince each other but it just becomes repetitive and kind of absurd. patrick and alex are quite bad with it. not everything is the best or worst ever
as someone who hasn't played unity, I still don't understand why its awful. it by all means could be, but that exchange was just a lot of shouting about chests and not much else. what about the design made it poor compared to the last one? I still don't know
when jeff goes on a tirade about destiny it actually hits home because he's considered with his opinions, knows the genre and isn't prone to over exaggerating. that makes it worth listening to.
Yeah the absurd leaps of logic they make to justify their opinions are more aggravating than the opinions themselves.

Is there a reason long debates don't just... End in a vote? It seems like a natural, fair way of ending some of the prickly discussions.
This is the first series of goty podcasts I have tuned into...so I cant say if its always like this, but it just seems like they exhaust their good points for/against a game in the opening argument. When the choices narrow, so do their good arguments
Should be interesting tomorrow....but I think Bayo 2 appears to be a clear winner, they all seem to like that game alot.
Yes, this is kind of how it always goes.
As someone noted, the Skyrim vs. Saints Row 3 horror of 2011 got to some really amazing arguments, like "You fight too many ice guys in Skyrim" and "Saints Row isn't better than Skyrim, it has mediocre combat and glitches."
Alberto brought up last year's attempts to keep Mario 3D World off the list, including "it has cat powers and cats are internet memes so Nintendo was just using internet memes" and "the levels are too wide."

I'm still so raw over that Skyrim/SR3 discussion
I wonder if The Fall is going to make it on the top 10 of the year. They've been showering it with praise in several categories.
Saints Row vs Skyrim has at least an hour of the most circular arguing about problems both games have, which is what makes it the most excruciating GOTY they've ever done. "Buggy" is used against Saints Row in the weirdest case of glass house stone throwing ever.
Who were the 2 contenders last year ? TLoU and GTAV ?
Because the crew's votes aren't all worth the same. Brad or Jeff easily override anything Alex or Drew say, if they really want to.Is there a reason long debates don't just... End in a vote? It seems like a natural, fair way of ending some of the prickly discussions.

GTA wasn't in the top ten. It was between Last of Us, Link Between Worlds, and Bioshock.
But the incredible Skyrim backstab. What a time.
I still can't believe AC4 got in over GTAV.
I remember Brad said that GTA had boring mission design "drive here, press button, drive back" were his words. He didn't even get past the second heist.
And yet somehow he thought AC4 was better, which still had shit tier completely forgettable mission design, a terrible story, and bunk ass mechanics (like stealth gameplay).
Granted I haven't listened to all the podcasts yet, so hopefully Brad can atone for his sins by praising GTAV this year (if they will allow that).

The PS4 was in his personal top 10 for this year.

He probably didn't play much of AC4 eitherI still can't believe AC4 got in over GTAV.

Man, this years goty podcasts are hard to listen to at times. Brad calling Smash just plain boring is insane. Its hilarious how Brad and Jeff keep hating on Nintendo on every podcast when they're bringing out the most polished games this year. Kinda sad. But hey, opinions.
It's fine if he doesn't like it but it'd be nice if he actually gave it a real chance. I can tell that he didn't because when I watch him play on streams I notice he doesn't do very basic techniques like smash moves (he mainly just does tilt moves) and recovery moves. Jeff at least has a basic understanding of the game.

I think Mordor will win Game of the Year, but I wouldn't be suprised if Jeff and Dan make a play for Far Cry 4. Its been on almost everyone's top 10 but Jeff and Dan in particular seem to really dig it.
I don't think Mordor will win Best Game. Brad and Vinny won't vote for it for lore reasons. Jeff likes it but doesn't love it. Only ones who will really fight for it at the top are probably Dan and Patrick. I think it'll be Bayonetta. They all really love Bayonetta.
I'll be surprised if the top 3 isn't Mordor, FC3, and Bayonetta in some order.
If the game was actually chaotic you couldn't do stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wH55tLRYqk
You just need to respect the game and learn how to actually play it.

Sorry, but nothing about that looked fun to me and I really didn't get what was going on. It looked like a bunch of random movement, not some skilled play. I don't have that problem with just about any other competitive game series.
