Last gen I told my friends that I was completely fine with the way graphics were back then and a game like GTA V on last gen looked "Next gen enough" to me compared to earlier games.
I guess I really just want developers to keep last-gen graphics but focus on making the gameplay and performance better now, and so far that has kind of happened with a lot of games like Far Cry 4 and GTA Next Gen as well as Destiny (even though Destiny certainly looks next-gen too)
I'm all down for that stable 30fps gameplay. I was getting sooo sick of games having graphical settings turned up to 11 on last gen so the framerates were in the toilet. On PS2 I remember GTA III and Vice City being choppy but that was okay because those were so open world and had huge environments, but otherwise I think all my games including Nightfire, Jak 2, Ratchet and Clank, Rayman and so on, those all had great stable performances.
Far Cry 3, GTA, Mass Effect and The Last of Us had some really annoying framerates in PS3 in last gen. It's so bad that I'm not preordering stuff anymore and I always check comparisons and Digitalfoundry before I make my purchases now.
Mass Effect Trilogy ran like a charm on my PC, so I'll gladly wait 2-3 years on a better PC to play next gen than waste my money on bad current-gen console performances like AC:Unity for instance. Even Dragon Age Inquisition is almost so bad that I wish I had waited for the PC version.
