Hi all thanks for the advice!

I guess I wanted it to be black as everything else I have is that colour (PS4, TV, Virgin box, TV stand etc) but I guess it isn't a deal breaker.

If I do decide to expand on the 8 gig of storage can anything be installed to it? ie patches, eshop games etc. I remember expanding the storage on my Galaxy Note 3 and I couldn't even choose to install apps to it, only media files. Pain in the a$$!

Where is the best current deal for basic + game? I saw a few floating around for the £170 mark is this still the best way to go?

Can anyone point me to cheap PS4 consoles or bundles, preferably white?
I'm located in Germany, so factor in eventual shipping costs.

There's no point in paying more for a premium WiiU.
The storage in the premium version isn't enough, so youre gonna need an external HDD anyways, so it's better to use that extra cash towards that than the premium.

I think the storage in the premium version is plenty enough if you're not going to be purchasing many virtual console games or going digital i.e. in this basic case, purchasing a Wii U premium and no HDD against purchasing an external HDD and a Wii U Basic. Of course, if you're paying £50 extra then it is not worth it.

Even on Game's recent 'double next-gen trade-in value' day, I still got an extra £6 that I would have otherwise got by pricematching the CEX opposite... ... ...

I always thought it was just me who obsessed over these things. Now I don't feel so alone in the world.
 
Generally I don't see what all the fuss is about. You want a game, GAME send you the game, so as long as it's in good condition just get a partial refund and play the bloody thing. If you get a brand new sealed one, you're only going to unseal it anyway, why worry?

But hole-punched covers are kind of another thing entirely :lol

At GAME, two copies of a new game are always "gutted" and put on display. The only time this box should ever be used for selling a game is when the store in question is down to their last two copies.

This is why you sometimes get opened ones from the website as stores, in a stock recall, have sent back the opened ones as it's all they have left at the time.

And also new and used games are very rarely kept in the same drawer, if ever. They are 95% of the time kept separate.

They listed it as new. I expect to receive a new copy.

It's more the fact that they haven't sent you a new sealed copy. No matter how good condition a game is in, once the seal is broken, it's pre-owned. We want a new sealed copy, which we paid for.

Even after all this time I still can't get my head around why anyone would ever need to bring a hole punch to the party. Strange stuff.

It's enough for me since I only buy some indie games and VC titles, didn't need to upgrade yet, while if I had bought a basic I would have been forced to buy an external HDD from day 1 'cause of games' patches/updates.
Btw, claiming the eShop is rubbish and only have 3 games worth on it must be GAF's shit post of the year 2014. And why would only exclusives count? Do you guys exclude games from Xbox/PSN if it ain't exclusive? I own every console (PS360/PC/Wii/U/X1/PS4) and if the game is the same resolution and especially the same framerate/gfx then I consider the Wii U version the best one just on the basis of offering offtv play (60fps no lag streaming to the couch) ...and miiverse is kinda nice too for some titles.

Yeah I get that, but once it's in your hands it doesn't really matter. If you're going to play it, you're going to need to unseal it anyway, so why not just get a partial refund and play it?

Why go through all that hassle returning it, waiting for a new one to come, only to unseal it so it's in identical condition to the one you sent back, whilst paying an extra £10 for the privilege?

(This assumes the condition of the one they send is close to "like new.")

I get that you wanted a new one, but once the second-hand one is in your hands and you can properly assess the condition, why not judge it based on said condition?

I buy games new/sealed so I have peace in my mind that some sweaty gamer or snotty little kid haven't drooled over it and then 'cleaned',these pre opened games are normally store displays so I don't think that's an overreaction. The games game have sent me unsealed haven't been as new either. There's also the other argument of 'principle' and it's kinda the law for you to receive what you purchased. but if you're paying £2-£8 for a Aa or AAA game I wouldn't complain if it comes in this condition but would get a replacement if I planned on keeping it.There's also the fact that game ship internationally so returns for some people are long and tedious.
As I've said before the issue is blown out of proportion on GAF, it shouldn't be happening but GAME do a good job on most of their orders which isn't really highlighted just the fact that they have a crappy stock system which causes this. Whilst I don't blame them(up to a point) , people seem really whiny and entitled when they complain about the issue as if they've lost a basic human right, which is pretty ridiculous. Whenever the issue is brought up a trail of hate posts follow without fail. In the end, you have the option of a return or a partial refund, Game accept they messed up (although why they choose to constantly do this I have no idea) which is good in my opinion, I've had some places simply refuse a replacement and only offer a refund for faulty items.

They didn't even have, want or know about Smash. They also wanted to play NSMBWU, which requires wiimotes to play multiplayer for some stupid reason, and they had no wiimotes at all.

Well, I felt that telling them why they might want a 40 euro controller rather than a 20 one was the bare minimum. Especially when said controller WON'T work with the game they had in their hands. The pro controller isn't the golden hammer you're making it out to be.

NSMBU works with the pro controller (was patched in post-launch, is supported in NSLU by default).

While we're in the middle of a Wii Remote discussion - what's the cheapest I can pay for a Wii Remote Plus? I only wanted to go back and play Skyward Sword and I was shocked to see it's £35-40. I know they can be used on the Wii U as well but still :/

Cheapest I've seen and in stock is a Wii remote plus and nunchuck on Nintendos shop at £45.

I bought one out of curiosity. It hasn't arrived yet, but judging by that video. I wont be getting a second.

It's all personal preference, but I think I'd only find value in those if I really loved the franchise the box was themed on. Buying them all doesn't seem like good value for money to me.

Looks like I might just be better buying a Wii Motion Plus adapter from Grainger Games for £6.99 as I already have 4 standard remotes anyway. Is there any advantage to the Wii Remote Plus over the standard remote + addon other than form factor? Does it work better in any way?

I had a look on eBay but that looks like a minefield filled with non official products

I find them more comfortable to hold without the adapter. Don't think there is another downside to it.

Nippon Yasan has them for ~26€. But only the Peach Edition is in stock at the moment.
