Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

So apparently Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles works on European PS TV's so I'll assume it's on the EU Whitelist at the official PSN website.

I wouldn't necessarily think it's a licensing issue since the game is already released in one Western territory in English available to play on the PSTV. (Nevermind being able to actually buy it as a digital download that works on the Vita handheld no less)

Yet, the game isn't on the US whitelist. Whoever thought it was a bright idea to use a whitelist method rather than a warning "This game and all of it's functions may not work on your PS TV, are you sure you want to load it?" with a Yes/No prompt.

All in all, it just comes down as needlessly complicated and lackadaisical in terms of software support.

Waiting until someone at SCEA decides to whitelist a PSP game for the PS TV that for all intents and purposes works as-is even on the PS Vita handheld, doesn't actually seem like the best idea to me.

Gaf, please help! I am having issues getting the party chat app to work with PS TV while using PS4 remote play. I understand the PS TV only supports bluetooth headsets and the one I have works great until you launch remote play. Has anybody found a fix or a workaround to get party chat to run while using remote play?

I have a Vita and am looking for a fun game with some sexiness mixed in. I already have Valhalla Knights 3 which I enjoyed quite a bit, but now I'm looking at the following:

Akiba's Trip
Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus
Persona 4 Golden
Deception IV

I know Persona isn't the most sexy game, but I heard it has dating which I find interesting. I am not big on jrpg's though which is holding me back. Also really looks like anime which is a turnoff. The "teddy" character being so prominent on the cover concerns me.

Looked at Senran Kagura for a while too but the anime look is a big turnoff. The baby faces kind of ruin the sexy, but if it's fun I could overlook it. The watery boob jiggles are sort of hilarious, but the faces being like 12-yr olds is killing it for me.

So really I'm mostly between Akiba or Deception, leaning more toward DIV. I think the character looks the best, and I enjoy the semi-horror theme as well. Figured I'd throw it out to GAF though and see what everyone says. Thanks in advance!

Persona is indeed somewhat anime but it's really not that bad. I wouldn't let Teddy turn you off to the game.

I expected Akiba's Trip to include what you're looking for but I was disappointed. Also, if anime look repulses you, a lot of "eligible" games might be crossed out.

A Vita game (now PS4 as well since I loved the Vita version and it's cross-save) that surprised me regarding gameplay and attractiveness is Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate. It reminded me a bit of Valhalla Knights 3 minus the "love bar".

I'm still waiting for Hyper Neptunia Rebirth and Dracula X to be whitelisted... :(

so im planning on picking up one of these. i already have a ps vita and my question is, is it possible to play local multiplayer using ps plus games (for example, soulsacrifice) i currently have_?
I only have one PSPlus account.

Yeah it's totally possible but the game has to be downloaded to both the vita and pstv while using your account on both as well..

I'm not sure how often or how low Vita memory card prices get but right now Amazon has the 16gb for $30 [50% off]. I just got the Vita TV and this is the first time I bought one of the memory cards. 30 is still kinda high for 16gb, but at least it's not the sin of 60 like it normally is.

The memory is the biggest bummer with this thing and the Vita in general but I know there's a decent amount of PSP and other games I'll have to have downloaded.

Any preferences on what resolution to run the PSTV at? I see 1080i and 720p, right now I'm on 1080i......I didn't know if either could have advantages for this particular device

When chosing between 720p and 1080i always go for 720p. Reading through the ps tv and other resolution threads over the years people have always said go for 1080i. If it was 1080p that would probably be the best choice. But interlaced is supposedly worse than progressive. Not the most technical answer, but it's what I've heard over the years.

Persona 4 *does* have some limited "sexiness" in a couple sections of the game. As for jRPG, it's not really your standard jRPG: half of the game is a social "dating sim" type game where the player deals with every day life as a teenager going to school, doing after school activities, and meeting and hanging out with friends to get to know them better (the other half is a dungeon crawler with turn-based combat). I'd say it does have an anime feel, though don't get too scared by Teddy, the majority of your time is spent with other characters.

Just got one for Christmas. To chat while remote playing to my ps4 can I still do the trick you can do on a vita where you start remote play then jump to the party app, join, then go back to remote play?

If so I think I'm going to need a Bluetooth headset, right? Can I just use any of the PS3 Bluetooth headsets?

Quick question, is the PS TV region free? I'm getting conflicting answers from reviews on Amazon. I really want the white one to match my PS4 and Vita!

Yes. I'm using a white Asian one on my UK account and UK power supply just fine. You just need to change the mains lead to another one (it uses a figure of 8 lead to plug into the charger)

Awesome, will probably order one soon. And I'm from the US, 99% sure the Japanese plugs are the same as ours. Will have to double check, but this is good news. Thanks!

Would also like to confirm that I'm using a White Vita TV with NA games/account using the supplied power supply though since it's the same in Japan and America.

WARNING:
MENU SYSTEM WILL BE O FOR CONFIRM AND X FOR CANCEL

some games will also take this change
Example: Muramasa Rebirth will change to O for cancel. Title screen says Press X but you must press O, however throughout the game it will list O as confirm.

Most games I've played use X for confirm once in game however if they access SEN Store in game it will once again be O for confirm, X for cancel.
Example: Freedom Wars uses X for confirm however if you load up the SEN store within the game it will switch to O for confirm. (it will switch back to X is confirm once you return to the game)

Yeah, I'm pretty used to the O/X thing since I imported a white Vita. It doesn't bother me at all, so it shouldn't be a problem.

They have White Vitas in the states
Just need to buy Liberation bundle and trade in Liberation.
I think Amazon sold the White Vita stand alone for a while too.

I'm new to the PSTV, and a lot of lists I've found for compatibility are outdated, so can anyone tell me if Sly HD is compatible yet with the Vita TV? I was hoping to play through Sly HD and then do Sly 4 as well

Anyone know of a way to not have Vita TV destroy your memory card organization each and every time?

I decided to give my Vita TV a seperate 16GB card... but now that seems to be a pain in the ass to get all my saves synched up.

I just made Vita match the Vita TV.
The deleted everything off the mem card that was the Vita TV's
Placed welcome park in place of the power button.
Hopefully this does the trick (if not then after making it match how i put it on vita)

*edit
Noticed any retail games that save on the cartridge show no signs on vita tv till they are placed in again (Virtue's Last Reward and Muramasa Rebirth)

This is a dumb question, but does Playstion TV's remote play work across two separate networks like regular Vita, or is RP restricted to a PS4 and PSTV on the same wireless network?

Figure this is as good a place as any to ask: I just got a new 64gb card, and I want to move everything from my 16gb and 8gb cards onto it. What's the best way to do that (if there even is one)?

probably back up the 16gb as a whole to your computer or PS3. and then back up each individual app/save from the 8gb to computer or PS3.

Then restore the 16gb to the 32gb and download each individual app/save from the 8gb.

Haven't tried this myself maybe someone knows of an easier way

Restore a backup from the one that's got more data on it (most likely the 16gb) then manually copy over the content from the other through the Content Manager.

Thinking of picking up one of these, specifically for the chance to play Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max with some friends.
Has anyone been able to use two dualshock 3's simultaneously for local play through the ps tv? I know on PSP/Vita that Alpha 3 Max supported ad hoc connections..

Pretty sure you can't do this with the PSP titles. PSone games might.

A mate of mine got one of these to play DriveClub whilst his missus is using the main telly but the first time he's tried it he suffered bad lag of the controls and could join our chat but we couldn't hear him.

He was using wifi for both the ps4 & pstv so I've advised him to get some power line adaptors so he can run it wired. Can you connect the pstv directly to the ps4 using this method? (like the vita can connect directly) or would it have to run through his router? (so 3 power line adaptors reqd).

Has anyone got any experience with driveclub on pstv? I've used it on a vita with a wired ps4 and found it ok but you can feel the lag there.

Any solutions/ methods to get chat working?

Thanks for any assistance.

The PS TV supports up to 4 controllers, but no PSP games are made to take advantage of this. PSOne and Vita games can though. The Vita and PSTV do support PSP AdHoc mode, so if you already have a PSP or Vita, you could do an AdHoc match with the PSTV, and it'd be kind of like the PSP/Vita was a second controller.

It'll need to go through your router. If his router is near to his PS4 or PSTV, he could get a power line adapter with 2-3 Ethernet sockets. I have one with three.

Always worth checking if changing wifi channels improves your connection - might just be congestion in the channel you are using.

Spelunky, Nidhogg, Skullgirls, and Desert Ashes.
Also PS1 games and PS4 Remote Play.

There might be more but I haven't looked much farther into it.

I posted that list before but as someone else pointed out It has some errors on it.
Such as the Sly Cooper Collection NOT working on Vita TV (wikipedia says it does work)

Yeah it also lists Rayman Legends as working. It wasn't working when I tried it in mid-december.
