What is the angriest you ever got playing a game?

Playing WoW when I was young and dumb circa 2006ish. Prior to the following, I had already been reported a couple times for swearing.

I had loaned a guildy the mats to make the Arcanite Reaper -- no small cost at that time. The very next day he quit the guild and refused to pay me back for the crafting materials. I went on an absolute rampage with profuse language and then reported him for scamming me.

As a result, he was suspended 72 hours but in doing so I was permanently banned from the game for my use of language. So, not only did I get my materials jacked, I also banned myself from a game I had dumped hundreds of hours into. It's actually probably the angriest I've ever been in general.

About 2 years ago I sent an email to Blizzard appealing the ban of my old vanilla account, and the ban was almost immediately lifted. It was awesome to log onto my UD Mage on Archimonde. I was one of the first mages to have a piece of Netherwind at that time.

You can get perma-banned in WoW for swearing? That's the lamest thing I've ever heard. The dude scammed you and only got banned for 72 hours, yet you use some mean words and it's all over. What the fuck?

GTA Vice City - there is a mission that you have to race this guy to join your heist. I wanted to break the controller, the game, and the console in half.

I remember that mission, it made me give up the campaign.

I'm a patient person but the angriest I've been was in the first week or so of Black Ops II when the lag was at its worst. So frustrating.

Playing Perfect Dark 64, I put a hole in my wall trying to do one if the challenges in the shooting range. I was 12 or so.

Getting that achievement in CoD4 in the airplane post credits. I threw the controller and tried to twist it in half probably a dozen times.

Beating the boss on Guitar Hero 3 (Lucifer, or something like that.. I think it was a Devil Went Down to Georgia cover). I was so pissed, because he would best me at the exact same part of the song every time. I seem to recall that the part of the song was one of those parts that are so crazy looking that you can't really read the note chart day enough. I think I finally beat it by holding star power or a power up for that specific part (weren't there power ups for bosses in that game, or something? ), but there were plenty of other opportunities to get wrecked on that song.

I couldn't give up on either 360 game because at the time I took achievements really seriously, and I was engaged in a bit if a competition with a friend.

Gotta be a racing game. Like being crashed on the last lap of a long race by an on-rails AI car, or blowing my engine on the final lap of a full-length race in F1 2006. The latter HURT. 90+ minutes gone in an instant.

Well the only time I ever broke a controller out of anger was Fight Night Round 3 on the original xbox, I was pretty young. Either Frazier or Ali kept knocking me out and I took that bulky ass controller and started slamming it down until it was in pieces, hahaha. I imagine that is the angriest I ever got while gaming

The original Gears of War multiplayer with the shotgun wheel of fortune. Despite being on both ends of the infinite shotgun of doom many times and also seeing many shots register and do nothing I managed to perform the most ridiculous feat ever which pretty much stopped me from playing ever again. It was on Gardens from the second map pack and I was having a long range fight with some guy when I magically scored a headshot with a shotgun from practically opposite ends of the map in with only a couple shots too.

I have no idea what the hell was ever going on with the shotgun in that game but it was the most unpredictable hit detection I've ever dealt with. Eventually almost every game ended in rage but I had a blast up until then.

Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2...well 2 especially. But man, when you finally kill that enemy or that boss that hounded you...all that rage seems like a distant dream.

DoA 3 on Xbox 360. I ejected the disk, tapped it from the bottom of the tray to get the game in the air, smacked it mid-air volleyball style, and it hit my closet door knob, shattering into 20 or so pieces. I couldn't do it again to save my life, and my friends still remind me of it today.

When I finished Final Fantasy X-2 with like 99.99% or something (missing out on the last dressphere/job) because I entered the Moonflow area from the road instead of teleporting in way back at the beginning of the game. Even though I completed the side quest, I didn't get full "completion" for it because of bullshit. I didn't break anything because nobody from the development team was around for me to break, but I am still completely fucking fed up with that game and I still get angry when I think about it.

I've never raged out at a video game before. I got so frustrated I started squeezing my controller, not bending, just squeezing, and I only caught myself right before the controller snapped.
Got to this part on Sunday. Spent many times trying to kill the sniper and during one try he just fell off the building lmao. Also beat Ornstein and Smough today so I know the pains :D

Persona 4 when I had to replay a bunch of stuff because of not making certain choices towards the end. Thank fuck I kept multiple saves around the branching point but even so it took hours to replay all those months even with the fast forward feature.

When I was a kid Luigi's Mansion round my neighbour's who didn't have a mem card. We got really far one day and a friend offered to lend his memory card but it wouldn't work by being plugged in with the game running. Fucking sucked.

FFVII. One Winged Angel battle. I levelled everyone to 99 only to find out that makes things harder. FUCK!!! Have only ever beat him with Knights Materia.

MGS3 and the never ending End.

MGS2 and the never ending Rays.

MGS1 and the never ending torture.

FFXIII and FFX bosses near the end with one hit kill/near one hit kill attacks. Fuck grinding, these games just spiked in difficulty without warning.

Uncharted 2 Crushing mode. The final boss.

Uncharted 3 Crushing mode the heavy guy with a gatling gun on the cruise ship. Pseudo-boss.

All great great games though. I have never gotten angry at a game I don't care about.

There was some RPG mini-game, I think it was in Grandia 3.

I punched my oak dresser hard enough to split the face of a drawer horizontally down the middle. Then put a hole through my door. Oak dressers are really fucking hard and hurt really badly, by the way.

Thankfully, I grew out of that a long time ago and I don't break things anymore. I still get pissed from time to time, but not as bad as I used to and at worst I yell "FUCK!" once or twice. Though in extreme situations, like this one end level in Killzone Shadowfall on the highest difficulty for example, I've taken to biting my arm. It's really weird I guess, but it's better than yelling and breaking things, and super rare too.

Mirror's Edge has a very unique implementation of First Person perspective/platforming and I always felt that (in the early stages) a mistake was always on me. But as the game progressed I just... I cannot for the life of me remember which stage but it was a later one. I swear I was doing the godforsaken stunt properly and even when the game registered it as complete, I had no idea what I did differently which leads me to believe the game was trolling me.

Needless to say, I was off to amazon to order a brand new controller.

I was so mad at losing in Madden to my brother that i stormed out the room and kicked the shit out of a clothes basket in the living room which flew across the room at light speed and put a whole in the drywall.

CoD pissed me off with cheese deaths that i slammed my hand down on my arm rest and broke it....sucked cuz it was a nice desk chair i took from google.

Online fighting games. Also, the last level of Super Meat Boy.

Getting the sniper to fall off is generally the most reliable way to deal with them. Congrats on beating Ornstein and Smough by the way!

I only seem to get annoyed at Football (soccer) games.

Football Manager for the matches where you have 20 shots to the other teams 3 and they come out 3-0 winners, just makes my blood boil.

Fifa for Ultimate Team whenever I lose I swear that i'm never gonna play Ultimate Team again only for me to fire it up again the same day and repeat the cycle...

Stealth Edit: Also forgot to mention Rock Band on drums once where I kept failing on Colony of Birchmen and got so frustrated that I threw my drumsticks into the wall, still have the dents in them, god damn you Mastodon!!!

I have teeth marks in my 360 controller from fighting the Capra demon. I was 27. I felt shame.

Still, every time I feel those marks I remember beating the shit out of that guy at long last.

Breaking a controller over a video game seems hilarious to me.

Not only are you bad at the game but now you're out a controller, congrats.

Everytime I okay a Call of Duty.

In every other multiplayer FPS (Halo, BF, Resistance, Killzone), I usually die from it being my fault, or lag sometimes. But 99% of the time in COD it's stupid bullshit.

Why has no one posted this yet

I've never actually smashed any of my video games or controllers in rage...
I have broken Cell Phones and threw my netbook once because of unfavorable conversations...
Cell Phones did NOT survive.
Netbook lives to this day but I had to solder and hotglue the charge port back together (still works to this day) (Acer Aspire one a0110 in case anyone is wondering)

I've recently gotten really angry with Hatsune Miku Project Diva F by trying to do more perfects. I usually don't bother trying and just play casually, but I decided to see if I was capable of pulling them off at Hard difficulty. And I was, but at the cost of my sanity.

When I was a kid I threw my NES and SNES controllers a bunch of times. They both survived. Those fuckers were tough.

I mostly just get exasperated at something if I think it was cheap or poor design.

Not angry just basically this

MW2 MP at launch. Dual 1887s killing me from across the map.

Also Mirror's Edge. That fucking four hour game took me two weeks to beat. I loved it but holy shit did it piss me off like nothing else.

Smashed an £810 television and busted a wall and a door up really badly.

I have way better anger management now though.

ornstein-smough-large.jpg

These guys.

Damn, someone beat me to it

Counter Strike. So many rage.
These two, though I've never broken anything. Worst I've ever done is curse and toss my controller onto the other couch cushion or slap my palm on my desk.

Haha, yes. Not sure why people can't just slap/tap an object and then chill.

The last time I remember just getting pissed at a video game was when I played through Dead Space 3. Fuck those times during the end of the game where seemingly never-ending hordes of necromorphs would continue to pop up, I just want to get through the game not deal with this poor excuse of game design.

Dance water,dance!

*shudders*

Most recently, it's Super Smash Bros 4 single player modes.

I mean, I understand the game is designed around "WOO HOO PARTY, YEAH RANDOM BULLSHIT, HOORAY" but when you're trying to get through Classic Mode or All-Star Mode to unlock shit and you get bullshit KOs that were not a result of your lack of skill, its very off putting and frustrating.

Namely, the Master Hand fights on high difficulties. I guess, it's just typical "Last Boss in a fighting game" type of horseshit you expect.

Honestly the flying skinny demon things right before it were much more annoying, iirc you could easily become stun locked by the arrows and both flying skinny demon things. It was incredibly annoying and very hard to simply run through. The shield dudes you just have to get your back against the building right before the arrow hits so that you won't be pushed away from it.

That said, like with most Dark Souls stuff, if you're not scared shitless, which you'll probably be during the first playthrough, the game gets much more manageable.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Arcade mode end boss made me throw my PS3 controller. I'm never that type to throw stuff, let alone my controller. It was that bad. Eventually "got good" but still....ugh...

Gears 3 Execution Ranked on Escalation. 4/4, game match. The bullshit design of Escalation mixed with some ridiculous lag and Retro spam made me curse up a storm. I was so upset.
