Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Yeah I hate having shoot and whip both be on R D:
So many times I accidentally shoot when I mean to whip cause I'm still holding L.

What control scheme do you use? I switched off of the default one the instant that I could (using Hunter scheme now maybe?) and find that using the Dualshock 4 changes very little at all. I love it.

Gains better sticks but otherwise no the playing experience isn't that different. Still pretty nice to play on the big screen.

It really is. Had a friend over this past weekend and played some co-op with me on VTV and he on his Vita. It was a blast. I hope he sticks with the game so that we aren't so far apart level wise and it doesn't feel like I am carrying him through the missions on easy mode...

you'd only be right if playstation now didn't exist, but it does so you can play many games. I think its cool. Its a low cost alternative.

Not to mention PSP, PS1, basically all upcoming vita titles, AND remote play. Pretty awesome device and I say that having all other playstation platforms already, way more value if I didn't. Compatibility is a needlessly thorny issue I wish they would address, but people are nuts if they think the device is pointless.

What's the Featured tab?

That annoying and persistant page that is always there showing you what 'Featured' movies and games you should check out. I admit I haven't looked too hard at options to disable it, but the fact that it isn't in your screenshots in the notification bar is hopeful.

Never heard of such a thing
Maybe it's because I imported my Vita TV? (had to have it in white)

So the Featured tab simply doesn't exist on Japanese/Asian units??

I feel so fucking robbed now. I want to smash my stupid NA region PSTV to bits and import an Asian one.

It does, at least on Japanese versions. I have it, in Japanese, even when using my American account.

So... could it be only the Asian units?

Or is it account-specific rather than hardware-specific?

That might be it...
This is the Japanese box (afaik)

And Here's my box

I also noticed when I first turned it on it was in English not Japanese
So I guess I have an Asian unit not Japanese.

Looking up VTE-1006
This is the Hong Kong Version

VTE-1000 Japanese (white)
VTE-1001 is American (black)
VTE-1005 is Korean (white)
VTE-1006 is Hong Kong (white)

AA01 = Dual Shock 3 Bundle
AB01 = Stand Alone

So Asian Vita TV confirmed as best Vita TV?

It's probably even the cheapest, too.

I wonder if I can convince one of my friends to buy my NA unit. I bet they're worthless on the aftermarket since tons of people must be reselling it after seeing how badly supported it is.

Quite possibly...
Just note that it's Region 3.
So if there is ever a region locked American or Japanese game you can't play it...
That said... Region locked English Asia games seem to be all clear for this (or so I hope)

Are there any region locked vita games yet? (I know PS3 has some like Persona 4 Arena)

It's really a shame that this little device will get little to no support :(.

As a courtesy I feel like they should open up the device after the Vita starts to wind down. At the very least they should open compatibility for every game and allow for Vita tethering. If not, hopefully someone will hack the thing and let us do that anyway.

Hurray for accidentally getting the Hong Kong model and not having to deal with Featured Tab!

I got mine pretty cheap, only payed $40.

I think the DS4 audio may depend on Bluetooth features that aren't present on the PSTV hardware.

I don't think the speaker is supported in PS4 remote play either.

I'm assuming you can stream PS3 and PS4 games with thid to another TV? And can only play Vita games? I missed out on PSP so was hoping this might be a device to support it lol.

Are you able to play Japanese games on it or do you need a separate memory card?

Vita TV does NOT have PS3 remote play.
PS3 remote play was a joke anyways unless your PS3 is hacked.
That said PS Now subscription is right around the corner and at $15 bucks a month (when you buy 3 at a time) it's not a bad deal at all!

So a Japanese Vita TV would be better than a US one?

The hardware itself has no region locking whatsoever, doesn't matter which region you have. Same region rules as Vita apply, you can only bind a single PSN account at a time but retail games from other regions always work except for lack of DLC access.

But as we're just discovered in this thread, the Asian (not Japanese) version is the best one by virtue of not having the stupid Featured tab that you can't remove.

Well I just looked up those prices, i aint shelling out that much. Should just buyy an NA unit I guess.

Unless you REALLY hate the Featured Tab, or having a Black 'Playstation' TV
It really doesn't matter.
Also all Japanese/Asian Vita TVs have reversed O/X

And one more question how do we turn off the ps4 via the pstv? I hold down the ps button on dualshock 4, and click power off. It turns off pstv but ps4 stays fully on.

So I played with it a bit today. Driveclub was flawless but wwe 2k15 was rather jumpy.

I also noticed before connecting to ps4, the pstv wireless signal is full. As soon as I connect to the ps4, it's down to the last bar. Any idea why?

Also, anyone have any recommendations for cheaper powerline adapters on amazon?

do you have remote play on the ps4 setup as a direct connection? they might be connecting directly, and thus due to distance providing an inferior experience vs. going through the router

Uh I have no clue. How do I go about checking? Ive never owned a vita so this remote play thing is totally foreign.

They are relatively close in nature, so maybe thats the case? If you dont mind helping me out, that would be greatly appreciated!
