I just decided to open them, because I'm not collecting for value. I just want to enjoy them. I do love the packaging though. But I also really liked getting a display case like this and having them out. Maybe it was the wrong decision, I'm not sure yet. But either way I am happy. Here is a pic of the glass door open:

If I had kept them in the box, I could have only fit 9 on each shelf (and they would have been stacked in front of each other in a straight line (so the one behind would be blocked).

Anyways, Wave 1 and 2 100% complete. I'm so happy. :D

EDIT:

I still plan on adding more to the case. I want to get those Staircase holders that will allow me to put each one on a stair level. And I'm toying with the idea of using LED strips (I'm not 100% sure if that will be too much lights). You guys have to see the case in person. It looks better in person, and is beautiful. But I think maybe it's too vanilla. I've seen some really creative display cases that I'm jelly of.

Is that okay? I like how it looks like sparks out of the glasses. But it's up to you. I have to go eat dinner. But I'll try to make a transparent version later if you want. BTW...the reason some of the pic is cropped out, is the original picture was not the right ratio for this board (which would just compress it).

So it looks better like this IMO.
 
Another B&H update from reddit:

Just called B&h and talked to the sales manager. I explained in depth how rare these toys actually were, and we went through a long process of trying to find out. Jack, the salesman whom I was speaking to, called me back a half our later after he talked face to face with the buyer of the amiibos for the store. He said that a) they sold too much and only realized it this morning, hence the reason they took down the preorders and b) B&h took an order with nintendo without knowing exactly what quantity they will be getting.

TL;DR Hot items are still hard to get, in other news water is still wet. Due to limited quantity, it is first come, fist serve. If you've ordered right away, there is a chance that you may be receiving your amiibos.

Still got around 3 weeks to see if these ship out or not, considering the original date they said they'd get most of them was Feb. 2nd.
 
Found a Pit for under 3000 yen, so I took the plunge. Since Azula was kind enough to offer me a Villager, now I just need Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi!

Most of us got our orders in the exact second it went up. So...if they are actually claiming they will be getting SOME in from those pre-orders, that bodes well for us.

Like I said, all of the orders I got were extras for this thread. They are for those that haven't got them and want to complete their collection.

I actually got your villager in today. Can you PM your address? I think I would rather just ship it, in the off chance we can't meet up in Tokyo. But yeah, it's yours 100% for free. Just hit me up.
 
I actually just took in that Samus and Fox are harder to find??? I'm glad I picked them up so early in the game. Not sure if I wanna go back for Wave 1 or just leave it behind (you're cool Marth but I'm waiting for Lucina, need to paint her in Cordelia colours).

Yeah, I think the only orders that've been cancelled are the ones placed later i.e the day after or those who were ordering 5+ of a certain amiibo/people who were planning on scalping. It still sounds as though those who placed them right as they became available while still limiting ourselves to just a few might get lucky

I'll still be amazed/very pleased if they ship Marth & Fox and all I had to pay was $30 after how rare they've become.

I added my name and location to the Google doc. Right now, I don't have any wanted or extras, so hope that's okay. I think it's a really great idea!

I do have an extra Pit and Lucario on order, but they are from TRU, so I'm not going to add them to the sheet until I actually have them in hand!

I love that optimism you have. I am seriously jealous of that type of trait. I hope you all get them. However, I was really confused by this retailer and situation. I did not order because I believed that no more NA holy trinitys exist but just due to the seller.

A photography company in New York has the ability to order these? I know some other smaller and less obvious companies got some. There is that Furniture Store that has them and I think a few of the older CD/DVD type stores got them and that bodes well for you all. However I don't think stores like K-Mart got any stock and the other major retailers were barely stocked. It is known that Gamestop and others could not order additional inventory up to this point. So I have a hard time believing a one off photography shop can get them this late. The New York Nintendo Store can't get them.

My guess is that at some point stores were able to order some from a regional distributor. Maybe like most people they have no idea what they are and the scarcity factor that exists. So they would have no reason to think a figurine would not be available because they waited to order. As a photography (heard they sell other electronics) shop they have probably never ran into not being able to buy a certain camera because they waited 2 months after manufacturing. Even items like iPhones are still around after the first day and shipment. I think this is an alien concept to this business due to the market they normally deal in. Just my thoughts. Nah, I think the same way. But I'm going to choose to remain hopeful until I get the cancellation notice. If they do cancel I'll be bummed of course, but it's also kind of expected so I'm ready for it.

I keep hearing that "all Smash characters are going to have their own Amiibo" but I've never heard Nintendo say that, nor anyone in any official capacity. I think it's just wishful thinking.

that said, if there is no Pac-Man Amiibo..... I will rage.
 
I have been following this thread for a while and thought I would share the new shelf that I recently bought. For those keeping their Amiibos in their box, it fits six of them across very nicely without wasted space. And with the removal of the bottom shelf in this picture, it should be able to fit all three waves once they are out.

Hmmm, Nintendo Direct confirmed for Wednesday at 6 AM PST/9 AM EST. Maybe we'll get an exact release date on Wave 3, then maybe a release month and who'll be part of Wave 4?

Looks amazing tbh. I'm torn on whether I made the right decision to open mine. I'm not collecting for value. But more so, because I love them in the box. In your picture you only have space for 6 more on the bottom shelf right? Wave 3 has like 11 amiibos? I wish I had the space because I would have gotten 3 of those cases and displayed them all in boxes. Would be soooo good.

Wave 3 on Feb 13 is my guess. Makes too much sense, even if it's just more stuff coming from Nintendo on that day... lol

I can see Wave 4 being late March/early April, and Wave 5 (last one) being late May/early June

Thank you! When wave 3 comes out, I plan on moving the controllers and removing the bottom shelf. I also plan on moving the three figurines to the top of the shelf to make room.

Ah. Honestly looks amazing. If I had the space I would legit get 3-4 of those and display all of them in their boxes *drools*
 
I just passed on a Luigi and Diddy Kong Amiibo at the GameSlop. Am I crazy?

Considering we got the rumor of it coming Feb. 13th AND GS doing their trade-in offer for it (trade your OG 3DS, get $75 towards New 3DS, $100 if you trade a XL) just a few hours ago, there's a very good chance it'll be part of the Direct.

Actually, considering New 3DS has NFC built-in, we SHOULD hear about amiibo since that was one of the things they were mentioning was a key feature since OG 3DS owners would have to buy a special device to scan them.

Luigi is easily the most common of Wave 2. Diddy is a bit harder to find, but not all that rare.

there's still a number of Amiibos in local stores in Singapore

they retail for $29.90SGD (can't remember the current exchange rate)

if anyone from GAF needs some, let me know. not sure how to ship them to you guys through
