While this is great for people who might have skipped the Wii to be able to play some of these great games. I find it hypocritical that a lot of people on GAF, will call out Sony, Microsoft and what not for re-releasing old games or remaster's on PS4, PS3, XB360, XBONE.
And yet are praising Nintendo in this thread for doing exactly that, and their not even HD remaster's, so I would hope a cheap price would be attached to these titles.
As some people can find the hard copies second hand or Nintendo classics that they sell for 19.99 and just pop them into the Wii U and play it.
I guess Nintendo fan's have double standard's on NEOGAF.
NEOGAF GOING TO NEOGAF.
This is very different:
Think about what people are complaining about when they say they are sick of remasters:
1) The price of remasters is often close to the cost of a full retail game.
2) Remasters hypothetically take resources away from normal development.
3) They are often used as filler due to a lack for first party titles.
In this case:
1) These ports are exceptionally priced.
2) These require very little development time since it is just booting the Wii hardware to play it.
3) Nintendo is doing fine on releasing first party titles.
The main reason for this is that Nintendo wants to collect on the long tail their games have. Ninendo games stay fresh for years and years after release and age very well. Think about it: Xenoblade, Kirby, and Metroid Prime are hard to find used and sell for nearly full retail price. New copies are even more expensive. This curves the high cost of those games, gives Nintendo money instead of scalpers, and required next to no development from Nintendo.
Since N64 and GC games run in Wii mode, Im excited at the prospect of having these games come to the eShop for Wii U.
