New Xenoblade Chronicles X trailer

I have to admit, that trailer put a smile on my face. It looks like the extra power the WiiU has over the Wii will help make Xenoblade's universe that much more compelling to me. I hope the game is a bit more streamlined though.

I'll definitely be getting this game this year. I'm also impressed at how MonolithSoft can make a massive game like this, put it out much faster than SE, and have it be a success with a fraction of the sales. (talking about Xenoblade Chronicles here)

EDIT: I have to agree with some people though, the soundtrack sounded a bit weird. Some of the tunes that we've heard are pretty good though, so it seems maybe there will just be a couple of odd ones in the soundtrack.

XB was not a sales success. The only reason it's getting this sequel is that Nintendo funds some games to have more games on their systems, not to make money. They'll most likely not make up development costs with this one either.

Glad Nintendo funded it though! XB was amazing.

Perhaps calling it a 'success' was a bit much, but I remember hearing that NOA was surprised how much it sold in the US at least, considering how much they gimped it's availability.

As for calling it 'not a success,' it goes both ways. They haven't mentioned either way. I think Xenoblade did okay personally, but I would say Chronicles X will have a much harder time. I hope it sells well in Japan. I know the people who supported Xenoblade will support this in the US at least, but everywhere else I'm not so sure.

Indeed. I hope this one sells better and Nintendo prints more copies of the game too. Because I don't think we'll be seeing many more Xenoblade games if this one flops as much as the first one...

So we are to assume now, that the game is SP only? No more multi component as once theorized.
What? There are still online elements, we don't know how they work yet. They've just shown us environments here.

All I remeber was some possible multiplayer stuff shown in the first reveal trailer. And then nothing since, no offcial word, no info, and trailers have since not shown anything else like that. But its very likely I have missed some info...

I thought I remember them possible saying something but it could be some weird online stuff, like miiverse, or some other asynchronous multiplayer elements. But not sure.

seems if its only a few months from release they would have mentioned something concrete by now.

I really like the music. There's a lot of great soundtracks in gaming, but there are also just as many if not more totally forgettable "atmospheric" soundtracks with nothing but drum beats played at quicker or slower pace depending on the situation, or no music at all. I'm actually surprised by the AAA games I've played this year with almost no OST to speak of. This is a very epic, very fitting score from what I've heard so far. Well above average with the potential to be excellent.

This trailer suffers from the No Man's Sky Syndrome: Just what the fuck do you do in this game besides walking/flying around in huge gorgeous environments? Dear developers/publishers: That is NOT motivating.

Do you a favor and open google search or youtube next time, then write :XB was not a sales success. It was probably underrated like many Wii titles back then.
Now, the physical copy of that game worth more than 50 euros :\

I actually don't like the music. But the game looks great and that was a well made trailer to showcase the vistas as well

i somewhat ..agree about the music in this game

#bringbackYokoShimomura

anyway game looks sooooo good can't wait to explore this world

Yeah the OST doesn't seem to be on the same level of genius as was Xenoblade's. It's just not that good for me, tbh. But the rest of the game has epicness written all over it.

For a person complaining about a lack of things you to do, you sure post in the Destiny thread a lot.

Lol! Sick burn...

Anyway, yeah, this is the year I get a Wii U. This, Zelda U, maybe Star Fox, and the other great games already out will make it great.

I actually find the music we´ve heard of this game much better than the first.

Im not as enamored as most of you guys with the original´s soundtrack. This music seems much more unique and classy to me.

Does anyone else think Zelda Wii U might be using this engine?

Would make sense. Nintendo doesn't really need two separate engines like this and XCX and Zelda Wii U are the only two Nintendo games it seems that seem to have this size and scope. Monolith Soft's name is on a number of Zelda games. The two games sharing an engine, etc isn't a big leap. They very well could be I think.

I definitely wouldn't call it unique going by Sawano's other work but I do like it. Maybe unique for a videogame.

WOW

Absolutely sensational

Crazy that this and Zelda will be out in the same year. Since Splatoon is May, maybe this will be July/August?

Not nearly the same situation; XCX is a sequel to a known commodity, it's by a developer with a proven pedigree in the genre, the trailer itself is called an exploration trailer and was introduced as such in the direct, and we HAVE seen unbroken live footage of combat and questing in the E3 tree house steam. I'll admit to being a bit underwhelmed by the trailer myself, but this is not at all in the same situation as NMS

If Nintendo was smart they'd release a digital Wii u VC version in the month leading up to the game's eventual NA release.
Why would they do that? They can charge double for the 3ds version.

Today's Direct certainly had some fog to cut through for North Americans, but this, Splatoon and Codename S.T.E.A.M. were really highlights for me (not to mention Metroid Prime Trilogy for $10...480p though it may be).

The one thing we really hadn't seen much of yet, as far as X goes, is environmental variety. This trailer has it in spades. I love exploration in games, and Xenoblade Chronicles scratched that itch like no other with impeccable art direction; they've knocked the art direction out the park, the sense of scale looks immensely satisfying, and I'm also really pumped that exploration seems crucial to the game and motivated by the plot this time around. This looks like everything I'd want from a Xenoblade sequel and more (with the "more" being customizable characters and motherfucking mechs).

As anyone noticed that while on the Mech, you don't see any other party members following you?

But we saw Mech traversal and combat in a teaser beforehand, whats going on here?

The landscapes are outstanding, great variety, colors, the world seems alive enough to me and from the long range it looks detailed.
Now, the bad points. First, chara design is a punch in the eye. Second, I'm not a fan of that physics even if I can live with it. Third and last, the world seems detailed from the long range but also extremely flat and poor from the short range.

My only concern is that there's only the one main city in the game? I really hope there's other civilizations on the planet , my favorite part of an RPG is arriving in new towns. Xenoblade was lacking in towns, but it did have Alcamoth and Frontier Village which were pretty damn good.

Anybody really disliking the music? It sounds like a series of epic noises and cues rather than a consistent theme.

Third and last, the world seems detailed from the long range but also extremely flat and poor from the short range.

Yeah. That last thing is bullshit. In fact, there's about two hours of Treehouse footage that says otherwise. Not that that even holds true looking at this trailer, mind you.
