I don't get all the whining about the adapter at all. You can buy them separately. People who upgrade already have an adapter. I even got 2 of them.
At first glance you'd think that, but it's honestly been a fairly standard thing with their limited edition 3DS console releases.
I didn't have enough time to run to a local GameStop. I'm hoping that other retailers are stocking the system. I tried ordering one online through GameStop before 11AM. It just disappeared before I could add it to the cart.
My Mario & Luigi: Dream Team LE came with it pre-installed and that was just a year ago (honestly one of the main reasons I bought it), did they give up since then?
Fair enough. I still think it's silly to not include pack it in.

The GamePad charger is not compatible with 3DS systems.
Oh shit, I thought it was... damnit!
I'm sorry but I'm having trouble grasping this:
Fuck the game. So you buy the system, which is powered by a battery, but it doesn't come with the cable to charge that battery?
This is the first electronic device I've seen from a major company that's actually sold without the essential ac adapter.
This is something I would expect from some cheap third party chinese knock off vendor on ebay but not a renown international company like Nintendo.
And people are actually defending this?
Like wow that's some top level kool aid brand loyalty.

People in AUS/NZ have the New 3DS and New XL (god, what shitty names) and none of them come with power adapters.

People need to stop using this as an excuse. This doesn't validate the lack of an AC adapter at all.
Yes, it's shitty that you've had to deal with it. Yes, it should have been made into a bigger issue sooner. But that doesn't make it okay. In North America, this is arguably the first major electronic product that will be released without something that is 100% essential to using it. And given that it costs Nintendo less than $1.00 to put these things in the box, that's completely unacceptable.

Yeah, I do not get the logic at all of defending them forcing you to get your own charging adapter. And people are actually defending this?

I understand that this has been going on in other regions but why?
Why not pack it in like every other tech company in the planet?
And why is there no more outrage from the consumers over this?
It's just blatant disrespect for their consumers.
If Sony or MS tried to sell me a system without the AC cable, I would go to their head quarters and smash the system over the CEO's head.
They're basically saying "Fuck you, give me your money and just swallow my dick."
Wait, so... if you sell your old 3DS to Gamestop you have to include your charger with it?
Can someone confirm this for me?

Well, they won't already have one if they are trading in their current system for the upgrade.
I stupidly bought one of the Smash Bros. controller for the Wii U.
Hrrmmm... I'm with people in regards to the notion that the New 3DS should come with a charger. And I will certainly argue that the lack of availability of the GC adapter is silly given the availability of the controllers themselves. However, I don't know if I can concede the point I quoted here. I'm not sure where you bought the controller from, but the Smash controllers have never been advertised as anything but GC controllers. Not Wii U controllers modeled after GC controllers, but actual GC controllers. Don't take this as me insulting you are saying you had it coming for not paying close enough attention, but I personally don't think they were misleading in how the Smash controllers functioned. At launch they were sold as part of a now sold out bundle that included the adapter and the game.
If you've bought any Nintendo DS hardware product in the past decade, then you already have a charger.
I'd think it's more of a crime if they made you pay extra for the unit simply because it came with a charger when you already had one.
You can't just expect all consumer's to own a charger. I have never owned a DS, and I'd definitely trade my OG in for the money off, which requires you to include the charger. It's kind of weird that they don't include one and if it's an indication of how cheap they'll go I fear for the build quality of the system, honestly.

Then, congratulations, you have the ability to purchase one when you pick up your 3DS!
You'd rather force everyone to pay for something they don't need simply because you have to add a second item to your shopping cart?
Because they're totally giving us a discount for not including an AC adapter...
As I just posted, this is only true if you don't intend to sell/trade your current system to subsidize the new one. I can't imagine the set of people willing to keep 2 recent dedicated Nintendo handhelds, one of which has BC with the other, is really that large, and I'm someone doing exactly that.

It's just a design, deal with it.
